God, how I hate this. I wanted to find it funny but I couldn't even do that. I imagine if I were seeing this in the style of DK2 I'd at least not find it something that itched my eyes as much.

But maybe not.

The sad thing is, I used to love Frank Miller, before he began to believe his own reviews.

Forget the powers.

Farm boy scout meets Amazon princess.

Never, ever, would they hook up. Other than their power levels and sense of altruism, they have nothing remotely in common.

This is so bad it's incredible that DC willing to publish it. I rank it somewhere below the WORST fanfic. Frank Miller must be laughing at Levitz and Didio all the way to the bank. And the worst part is Jim Lee is tied to this book when he could making his pretty art elsewhere.

I can't decide what's sillier - that she can't think about anything except the men she hates, or that she just keeps repeating herself over and over and over.

What will her All-Star Series Will be Like?

If Wonder Woman had he own All-Star Series, I would like how it be like a retelling of her Golden Age story line, where Steve Trevor is her main-squeeze and being part of World War II, and lead her to modern times. Basically refreshing her origins. What do you guys think?

There's nothing about this book that doesn't reinforce the idea, in my mind, that Frank Miller really does believe that people should be grateful that he even condescends to do a comic book these days when he's all about the movies that he's making out of his (and other people's) comics.

Or, in brief (and WRT the cover above): This is Wonder Woman's ass when he's shoving it in your face.

I know mostly everyone hates All Star Batman and Robin, but I love it just for the sheer ridiculousness of it. It's much more fun to read if you don't take it serious at all. Also, I like the art. Especially the panel where Plastic Man is gnawing on Superman's leg.

I love All Star Batman and Robin solely for its shock factor - I don't even worry about the silly little plot or the botched characterization - I just love how fucking crazy and psychotic it is

Does anyone know when it is going to start up again

Well, that's strike one.

Ok. The moment we get a writer to write for Wonder Woman the Movie, Warner Brothers should go to court and get a restraining order filed on Frank Miller barring him from the studios until the movie is released.

But the concept is sound.

I like the idea of re-booting Diana as an angry warrior who looks down on humanity. But the romance? Nix it.

She's struggling to understand man's world. Perhaps her journey there was a punishment? She has to atone labors to atone? Something like that.

But I do like the nose-guard.

I was the one who posted this back on the old scans_daily, and it hasn't improved any with age. Excluding Plastic Man, who is the only one who even begins to resemble his main DCU counterpart, the Justice League are terribly, terribly characterized.

Superman is a pouty little boy who sulks and goes "I told you so," being a lot more concerned about what the kidnapping of Dick Grayson means for the public image of superheroes than, y'know, the kidnapped boy himself.

Wonder Woman's defining character trait is that she hates men -- in fact she hates them so much that she can't go for five minutes without ranting about how much men suck and how they ruin everything... while paradoxally enough mocking the male Leaguest for not being manly enough for her tastes. Jeez, Miller, you've already gone this far, so why not say out loud what you're thinking and admit that in your opinion all she needs is a good, hard fucking?

(And I really hate that noseguard! Yeah, I know it's supposed to make her look more warrior-like and all, but a noseguard does not belong on a tiara! If Wonder Woman had worn an actual helmet, then the noseguard would have looked in place and made perfect sense, but she doesn't, so it doesn't.)

And Green Lantern is apparently too lazy to bother even gesticulating for himself, instead using his ring to create two giant hands to gesticulate for him.

Also... "TANK TANK TANK"?! What are you implying here, Miller?

After much deliberation I finally picked up this trade a few weeks ago, and it was every bit as horrendously, eye-gougingly bad as I'd been told it would be. But somewhere in between the ham-fisted dialogue, undisguised misogyny, and gratuitous pedo-baiting I sort of really enjoyed it. Kind of the way I sometimes enjoy watching Japanese sitcoms, or antiquated Bond films. I keep expecting it to get better every time I revisit it, because there's some part of me that still refuses to really believe that there's ever been anything that really is that bad.

The art, however, is really freaking gorgeous. So gorgeous it makes me kind of sad that it has to be tied forever to such a hideously bad story.

I'm wondering if the key to enjoying ASBAR is in one's frame of mind. Everyone expects intense dark stories from Frank Miller, but maybe this is his attempt at comedy. Kind of like SNL skits of DC superheroes?

On first read, I can understand why Diana fans would find it offensive, but there are little nuggets I found funny, like her ordering GL to take her coat and him responding with the power ring coathanger :D

Also, no one seems to have mentioned the slight modification to Diana's tiara, namely the extended piece of metal covering the bridge of her nose. I liked it a lot because it reminds me of an ancient Greek helmet.

In any case, some consolation for WW fans: 1) at least she's not a whore 2) it's not in continuity
