Will someone tell me why they'd put Jason Todd back onto the Red Hood persona and not come back to some version of his previous Red Hood costume rather than this?

Into. Into the Red Hood persona.

Yeah, WORD. This thing here is just over-the-top ridiculous besides being ugly. The old Red Hood costume had style!

*sigh* I still kind of hope this isn't Jason, but then I'm also still in denial about Damian -- scratch that, about all of RIP and BftC -- and hope poor Dick wakes up from his acid-fuelled nightmare soon.

I think the key term is over-the-top. A version of this classic look (if I'm recalling correctly it is a lot more like the original Red Hood design from way back) could work on some other character, some kind of grandiose costumed criminal, but on a Jason Todd that's now DC's answer to The Punisher?

Off. Way off.

I was thinking that myself. I don't know why DC bothers with the 'WHO is this new character going to be?' game when they're so very, very bad at it. 'Who is the Red Hood? Well, gee, we've just had another guy calling himself the Red Hood, and this guy wears a completely different outfit, so it must be someone else, right? They wouldn't just kill off one version of the character only to bring him back so soo... oh.' I mean, honestly, who resurrects a character after only a few months? Where's the drama? He was dead for years, then he came back, then he died - again - now he's back again after what was probably only a few WEEKS in comic book time. Whoo-pee. Personally, I had my money on Black Mask, but it looks like I was wrong (unless, of course, DC is just toying with us, and it isn't really Jason at all).
