This literally fell off a shelf and hit me in the head...

The is about Hans VonHammer (The Enemy Ace) in WW2. Normally when you hear about projects like this you just want to cringe,happily this one bucks the trend :)

	Really? I guess I should stop getting my cues from online language translators, then. I typed in 'the such-and-such of such-and-such' and they translated the 'of' as 'von'. Is that just how it works in a name? (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	What IS 'of', then? I'm asking because that thing I typed in was the name of a character I created, which I may use in the future, and I'd like to get his name right.. The name was 'the Blade of Vengeance', which translated to 'Das Blatt von Vengeance', which I thought sounded completely kick-ass. If it's NOT 'von' for 'of', then what's 'of'? 	No, Von is the elder name of the Prussian Rus, you are "of" the Rus , or a viking. Not from the indigenous people. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Not to add any more confusion, but the German word for "of" is indeed "von". However, it should be poited out that you cannot necessarily translate everything word for word from one language to the other (which is where online translators fail). The example you gave "blade of vengeance" would be " Klinge der Rache" or "Schwert der Rache" in German. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	rubs forehead I'm so confused. I'm guessing 'Rache' means 'vengeance'; OK, I get that - but 'Klinge'? 'Schwert'? They BOTH mean 'blade'? What does 'blatt' mean, then? Is that yet a third word for it? Oy, my achin' head... (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Rache = vengeance - yes blade is literally translated as "klinge" I guess "sword" would rather be "Schwert" It's just that "Klinge der RAche" sounds weird in German (IMO) Blatt is actually a wrong translation by the online translator. "Blatt" is the German word for both "leaf" and "page". Imagine the poor manga-character with a leaf of vengeance... (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
