It's unfortunately devoid of furniture, but there are several jugs of water and glasses sitting in a corner for refreshments. I do not wish for my time with her to end, but that is the nature of things. If I may preserve her life, I will do so.

On the other hand, I worry for my old friends. Khaavren's heart bears enough scars, and spent some centuries in a sad state following a disaster I have not had the opportunity to recall. And Pel -- well, Pel is a Yendi, but I would pretend to know him well enough to say that his own heart will be heavy, even if he would not care to show it.
