You almost get to the top when the steps start getting watery and slimy under your hands and feet. It seems to twitch and pulse, like it's alive... it's hard to keep a grip but you are almost there...

It lunges.

Between the two of them, he's dragged up just as a black mass slides past the open, hurdling in full force towards the top of the elevator shaft...

It starts collapsing in on the top of it, forcing it back down, and cutting off the first tendril... The dust settles and finally, the sound is completely gone...

The landscape settles.

Congratulations.
