[Scar had been tagging along, nervous and ... though he wouldn't openly admit it, downright scared of their situation. The others were braver -- and quicker to respond to the phantom when it spoke than he had been, so he stayed quiet, glancing every once in a while behind the team, out of both paranoia of the situation as well as a strange, inkling feeling that something was very, very wrong]

[and Scar doesn't want to attack it -- he said he's scared, after all. But he hurt Brass, he could hurt the others-- he could hurt him. So almost instinctively, Scar leaps toward, claws and teeth first toward the shadow]
