Nearly four thousand years ago, Khaos punished the gods for their bad behavior. She took the Olympians and those who were loyal to them, and she broke their immortal bodies, gathered their souls and released them into the mortal plane. Wanting to completely purify the world, she also went to the gods who, for the most part, kept to themselves, and she destroyed them too, just because she could.
With Mount Olympus barren and the Underworld empty, Khaos sat back and observed the evolution of humanity. It took her many, many years, to realize that she was not happy. The mortals had gone astray. They had embraced false religion or no religion at all, and Khaos, from which everything had first emerged, decided that she wanted things to go back to the way they used to be. She wanted the mortals to once again know her name.
For thousands of years, the gods have lived mortal lives, one after the other, unaware of their divine natures. On January 1st of 2018, they awoke with a jolt. They remembered. And Khaos was gladdened. From her perch in the far-off distance, she worked to restore divinity to the newly awakened gods.
Finally, she succeeded on the 12th of August.
The gates of Olympus have opened and every mortal creature on the face of the earth feels that something has changed.
The True Gods are back, and nothing will ever be the same.
