The Gilded Court: A Royal Harry Potter AU RPG [16 Sep 2009|01:36am]

The assassination attempt on Prince Draco was only the beginning. On Saturday, August 22, 2003, a reporter from the Daily Prophet attempted to assassinate King Lucius and succeeded in killing Minister of Magic Robert Greengrass. When his home was searched, a cache of documents and writings implicated a conspiracy by the Minister of Magic and the Crown to surpress muggleborn magic. The Crown denied the allegations, but with muggleborn test scores falling at Hogwarts and increasingly violent protests from muggleborn activists groups, people are beginning to question if the royal family really does have their best interests at heart.

Since June 1, the Gilded Court has been an active community of diverse characters exploring an alternate universe where the Malfoy family rules both wizarding and muggle Great Britain. With elements of real world politics, paparazzi, and current events melded with canon spells, biases and dark forces and sprinkled liberally with historical research, Gilded Court is a game unlike any other.

Most Wanted: Muggleborn/Anti-Crown Activists, Older Nobles, Progressive Leader Frank Longbottom, Tracey Davis, Vincent Crabbe, Ted Tonks

Recuperatio [16 Sep 2009|03:14am]

2005. Seven years since the fall of The Dark Lord Voldemort. After all of the pain and suffering that he inflicted, one would think that things were back to normal and peaceful. If you think that, then you’re dead wrong.

Convicted rapist and murderer, Fenrir Greyback has escaped from Azkaban and has already began to leave a trail of bodies behind him as he works on building a werewolf army, along with being intent on finishing what he started with Hermione Granger back at Malfoy Manor. Poor Crookshanks has already paid the price of his bloodlust. The leading vampire rights activist has been murdered and vampires are ready to expose everyone to the Muggles if the killer isn’t caught and if their demands aren’t met. The Muggle War is affecting Wizards left and right, from soldiers to suicide bombers in London. Harry Potter is still living a reclusive life, still dealing with PTSD from the war.

The Death Eaters have begun to align themselves once more, planning on finishing the work of The Dark Lord. In an attempt to gain Greyback as an ally, the Death Eaters responsible for the new regime tortured Hermione Granger, with the intent of presenting her as a gift for the wolf, but Harry Potter saved her in time. But the damage was done and Ron Weasley is now on the war path. Will Harry be able to come out of his seclusion and help his friend before he goes off the deep end? And if Harry cannot stop Ron, will his fellow Aurors be forced to do the job?

All of this going on and the Head of the Magical Law Enforcement unit has just been murdered along with the Minister of Magic’s assistant and Andromeda Tonks…

Someone is hell-bent on killing every single person of importance in the Ministry of Magic, leaving room for the Death Eaters to make their move.

Secrets are being revealed, rumors flying, babies are born, and people are dying at an alarming rate. Lord Voldemort would be proud.

Things are just beginning to get interesting.

Want a part in the story? All you have to is join.

Darkness Rising [16 Sep 2009|04:27am]

"Imagine that Voldemort’s powerful now. You don’t know who his supporters are, you don’t know who’s working for him and who isn’t; you know he can control people so that they do terrible things without being able stop themselves. You’re scared for yourself, and your family, and your friends. Every week, news comes of more deaths, more disappearances, more torturing … The Ministry of Magic’s in disarray, they don’t know what to do, they’re trying to keep everything hidden from the Muggles, but meanwhile, Muggles are dying too. Terror everywhere … panic … confusion … that’s how it used to be."– Sirius Black

The year is 1978. Across Europe the Wizarding Community lives in fear. Voldemort and his followers are on the rise, leaving behind a reign of terror in their wake. As Voldemort’s supporters increase and more Wizards are murdered or go missing, Wizards and Witches begin to grow even more uneasy and terrified, and an increasing number choose to fall prey to his Empire, out of fear for their lives, unwilling to stand up and fight.

Despite the increasing danger to their loves, a small group of vigilante Wizards, led by Albus Dumbledore, has begun a rebellion, daring to do what the Ministry will not; fight. The Order of the Phoenix is slowly forming into a force to be reckoned with, a threat to not only Voldemort, but the Ministry itself.

Change is on the brink for the students of Hogwarts. No longer will they be safe behind the confines of the castle, unaware to the real dangers of the world. They will soon be forced to make their own loyalties known; a decision that will affect not only the rest of their lives, but the entire Wizarding World.

Choices have already been made for those just out of Hogwarts. They have picked their sides and now they must live with the decisions they have made.

Amongst all of this darkness, the Order is the light needed to give the Wizarding World the power to take on Voldemort’s forces. As both sides fight to gain support, one question still lies: which side will you choose?

Since February 1, 2009, Darkness Rising has been an active, friendly, and canon compliant Marauders Era RPG taking place in 1978 featuring talented, amazing writers. We seek to find even more active, friendly, and kick-ass writers for our RPG to take us even deeper into the story as it unfolds.

Most Wanted: Regulus Black*, Amelia Bones*, Alecto Carrow *, Amycus Carrow, Antonin Dolohov*, Hestia Jones*, Rabastan Lestrange*, Frank Longbottom*, Xenophilius Lovegood, Peter Pettigrew, Fabian* & Gideon Prewett, Rufus Scrimgeour*, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Andromeda Tonks*, and many others!

Phased Worlds [16 Sep 2009|10:44am]

There's a reason they call it
"The Hub of the Universe."

When the creatures of dreams are reality...

It's called sleight of hand. Distracting you with the right hand so you'll never know what the left is doing.

For all its history, culture, and highlights, Boston is a bit of a dud. Though it's a major metropolitan area it almost seems a little too Old World, a little too traditional. It's boring, and that's the way they like it. Since their arrival in 1775, the supernatural beings that call Boston home have been carefully diverting attention away from themselves, but not everyone appreciates peace. A new school year is starting at the prestigious Boston Conservatory for Supernatural Inquiry, and the Church of Clear Sight is gearing up for the Hunt that coincides yearly with the influx of supernatural beings into the city.

...what do you believe in?

If We Lost, HP AU RPG [16 Sep 2009|01:52pm]

Halloween at Godric's Hollow changed the course of history -- a savior was slain in his crib, and a Dark Lord rose to great and lasting power.

Headmistress Umbridge has been murdered, Hogwarts closed indefinitely. Werewolf attacks are on the rise, children taken from loving homes because one parent is a werewolf. St. Mungo's is as much a place of torture as of healing as new and better ways of killing are researched. Traitors hide under the banners they chose, while madmen lead the way. The Order is weak, though mobilizing. Some have lost hope in them, while others strive to resurrect the Phoenix.

No one knows what the future will hold.

The world is different. There is no Boy Who Lived to save you.

Xavier Memorial Institute
the pacific coast is calling
An AU X-Men RPG

The nation was stunned when it was revealed that Graydon Creed killed Professor Charles Xavier on live television to prove he was a mutant. Public outcry against the acts perpetrated by the organization known as the 'Friends of Humanity' allowed several laws to be passed in favor of mutant rights. That was more than a decade ago, in that time the realm of politics has come to an impasse. Amidst the political stalemate there was a heavy push by many parents to have mutant children removed from the school systems. The Xavier Institute could no longer provide the necessary facilities for so many mutants, adult and child alike. Ororo Munroe, the new head of the Institute, and Hank McCoy went before the Senate and House and asked that a second school be funded on the West Coast. Senator Raymond F. Donaldson, a democrat from California and the first mutant on the senate, helped to push the funding through. Thus the Xavier Memorial Institute was born.

XMI is an AU X-men game set in modern day California. It is meant to be a place where OCs may flourish, new stories can be written and those who have moved to the west coast may begin again. The school grounds, commonly referred to as Mutant Island, house both a high school and a university as well as a training facility. It is also the facility which houses the mutant team Legacy. The game is open to mutants age 16+, canon and original characters are both welcome. The game hopes to combine the social and political aspects of life as a mutant with the dangers that come from living in a world where humans, mutants, and things only classified as 'other' coexist.

Game Opened August 21st.

The Kingdom of Frell is at peace.

Though the so-called Golden Age of King Char and Queen Ella is long over- so long ago now that few are still alive who can remember it- life continues on much as it ever did. Merchants travel the lands far and wide, finding new and exotic goods to bring back to Greenville, the town just outside the royal palace. Greenville's markets are thriving, and most of the town's inhabitants pay little mind to the castle looming in the distance.

That is, of course, until The Gray Death appears. There is no known cure. Sufferers initially feel very weak, and are soon not even able to get out of bed. Overcome by fever, their complexions turn gray and they die. Still, Greenville believes it is safe- there are just rumors of the illness, and being so close to the castle, they're safe, right?

Wrong.

The illness knows no boundaries, a fact that is brought starkly to light when the King of Frell contracts the disease and dies a short time later. The King leaves behind a land in limbo- his wife, the Queen, is trying her level best to keep power from the hands of their immature son. Heroes search for a cure, trying to avenge their fallen King. Life in Greenville continues on, if a bit more cautiously. Life in the court, however, is marked by ambition and intrigue. Courtiers' motives are far from pure, and ambitions are on the rise. No one is sure who will emerge victorious.

Happily ever after was never a guarantee.

Fair is an original character role playing game inspired by Ella Enchanted, Fairest, and The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine. The game takes place in the world created by those books.

The people in this town are in for a rude awakening and some will discover the horrifying truth about the Beast and how it all comes back to the Fitzgerald sisters.

Explanation
