Ever at the Ready [20 Mar 2008|08:23am] - Mod Journal - RP Comm - OOC Comm - Graphics - - Plot - Rules - Character List - Played-Bys - Team Info - Apply - - Contacts (F-Lock) - Advertise (F-Lock) - So we all know that Captain Jack Harkness runs Torchwood Three, that Torchwood One was destroyed in the Battle of Canary Wharf, that Torchwood Two is headed by "a very strange man" and that Torchwood Four is currently misplaced. Well that's all fine and dandy, but things are about to start changing. Torchwood One is reopening just outside of London and is now known as Torchwood 1.1 and Torchwood Two's leader has been replaced. Torchwood Three of course isn't any different, with the exception that Jack has been missing for a bit. The big thing is that Torchwood Four is back on the map, headed by the same person it had been before it was 'misplaced'. It seems Torchwood Four, headed by one Major Charlie Sheppard, had a minor malfunction involving Cardiff's rift. In fact, Torchwood Four is located right near Torchwood Three, or at least it was until it and its team got pulled into another universe. Which is where Lucian Devereaux comes in. It seems that he got a hold of a Time Agent's vortex manipulator in the far future and has been using it at his own pleasure. Well, until it backfired and he was sent to the present and made the rift flux, sucking Torchwood Four into it. Luckily, Major Sheppard wasn't there at the time. Now as for Lucian, he'd been jumping through time randomly and unwillingly as he tried to fix the vortex manipulator. During this time he realized that he'd jump from the present in Cardiff to some different point in time and then back. Along the way, he managed to bring back people with him who shouldn't be during that time, and that caused the rift to go haywire, also bringing people to the present that shouldn't be there: those that are dead, those who aren't born yet, and those in other dimensions. And so, Torchwood realized they needed to work extra hard to try and stop this and thus re-established Torchwood Four, somehow convincing Charlie to head it once more. And that is where we begin... Ever at the ready is a Torchwood/Doctor Who RP that allows for any character from either series (old and new) to be incorporated, as well as original characters! It takes place around the start of season two. We've only just started and we're looking for a majority of the canon cast still, including The Doctor (any of them) and most of Torchwood Three. We're also looking for bad guys and aliens to be hunted down, as well as people to fill up the other Torchwood Teams. If you think you're ready, then we're ready to have you join the team! Before Harry Potter could reach the diadem, before the fighting could truly begin, Death Eaters stormed the castle and it was over before it had begun. Finally, with the Boy Who Lived in his hands, Voldemort was free to do as he pleased with the Wizarding World. Those who were present at the battle, as well as all Muggleborns and those who are loyal to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, were rounded up. Hogsmeade was transformed into a concentration camp, and all of those who had been captured were imprisoned. Witches and wizards from all walk of life now live together, scattered throughout numbered buildings in the town. They have duties they must perform, chores that need attending, and what little freedom they do have is carefully watched by the Death Eaters who rule the town. I mean, who wants the pressure of being super all the time? The year is 2108, exactly 100 years in the future. Thirty years ago, people with superpowers started appearing across the globe, and not long after that, masked and caped Super Heroes started patrolling the cities, protecting justice and the innocent and effectively making all the everyday heroes almost obsolete. Lately, the government has been urging those with super powers to relocate to a new city designed especially for them. Located underground, the city (called "Haven") is massive and contains everything you could ever want. The only catch is that anyone inside the city is required to report once a week for testing - so the government's scientists can figure out what distinguishes someone with superpowers from the rest of the world. But don't worry, the tests are "harmless"! In fact, they even pay you for your time, right along with giving you free housing and a free car. What do you have to lose? But, of course, everyone knows the old adage. If it sounds too good to be true... cityofheroes is a game based around former super heroes who have all relocated to one, fictional city. We're focused on character interaction and development through focusing on scenes and threading, with a minimal focus on journals and other forms of communication. Since then, life for mutants has been growing more and more difficult. Left and right, mutants are losing their jobs. Left and right, mutants are being found dead. Left and right, mutants are losing their rights, their families, their homes, their lives. A mutant hospital has been opened, known as "the New York Establishment of Mutantology", a testing facility for Mutantologists (that is, Mutant scientists) for better understanding of abilities. Every day mutants are being taken into the hospital for testing, and some of them aren't making it out. A drug has been created, for testing on the mutants. It is believed that the drug will put an end to the abilities these mutants hold. But not all mutants are being stopped. Some are dying from the side effects (however covered up by the Government), some are getting new abilities. The effects of this drug are widely unknown. On November 15, 2020 - a flyer was sent out to every family in America, listing all the laws mutants were expected to follow. If these rules were not followed correctly, the mutant will be punished by hospitalization, or death. What do you think? [20 Mar 2008|05:24pm] THE REVEALER A Harry Potter AU Role Play Located on Insane Journal After Dumbledore was killed and Harry was left with a fake Horcrux, the boy-who-lived became determined to bring down Voldemort. Of course, Harry wouldn't be allowed to go on such a task without the help of his friends Ron and Hermione (they aren't called the Golden Trio for no reason!). The three of them searched high and low, with haste and dedication that was to be admired. All the while keeping contact with the order so they could keep track of what the Dark Lord was doing. A month before school was set to start the trio finally found the last Horcrux. They destroyed it and let out a huge sigh of relief - their laborious task would soon come to a close. With the Horcruxes gone Harry set off to destroy the wizard who had taken so much from him. Voldemort had his Death Eaters by his side, as Harry had the Order. The final battle was a blur of flashing light from hexes and curses being thrown from one wizard at another. With several casualties from both sides, Harry and the Order found themselves victorious. It is now the trio's last year at dear old Hogwarts. With Kinglsy Shacklebolt as the Minister of Magic, the wizarding world was both rejoicing and trying to return to a normal state of living. The Minister and Headmaster McGonagall decided that more needed to be done to promote tolerance among the wizarding community and that the best place to start that was in Hogwarts. When the students received their shopping lists for school they also were given a magical journal. The journal would be used to bring the students together, no matter what House they resided in. The students would be able to communicate with one another at any given time and share their thoughts or daily happenings. Of course, privacy must always be given for privacy's sake, and the students were also able to hex certain bits of their writing to be kept private from everyone or just a specific group of people. Remember though, that this is Hogwarts. An anonymous student or group of students - no one is really sure - came up with a new spell. A spell that would allow them to write entries in their journals and have it show up in the other journals without any name attached to it. Instead it is always signed 'The Revealer'. The spell is used by the students to spread gossip anonymously throughout the school and the spell quickly got around. Now, the journals that had been meant for harmony and unity had become a tool for spreading the private goings on of the students, whether they were true or false. With The Revealer tearing through Hogwarts what will happen to the students? Will they overcome the rumors and be able to keep their friendships and possibly make new ones or will it tear them apart? It does what it needs to to thrive, even when the changes that must be made are buried deep within the genes. Evolution. Sometimes it comes in baby steps, sometimes in giant leaps and bounds. Sometimes all it takes is one slight shift, and the change appears. This change is called mutation. The jump in human evolution that takes place in the early twenty-first century, is a mutation which causes enhancements in the known human condition. With some the change is known from birth, but it takes time in others to develop. The enhancements are unknown to most of the human population, and for most of those who share such a condition, are secrets best kept hidden. There is an apartment complex in Las Vegas, Nevada, whose occupants are specimens of this new generation of evolved humans. Most of them are hiding their special adaptations. Some have been living in their current apartments for a while now, and some are recent arrivals. It is unclear as to the motives of fate. The reasons for this specific group of people to be brought together at this specific time in this specific place are unknown. The only thing that is perfectly clear is that every character is a piece that interlocks with others, to make an amazing picture.
