Ever at the Ready [13 Mar 2008|11:17am] - Mod Journal - RP Comm - OOC Comm - Graphics - - Plot - Rules - Character List - Played-Bys - Team Info - Apply - - Contacts (F-Lock) - Advertise (F-Lock) - So we all know that Captain Jack Harkness runs Torchwood Three, that Torchwood One was destroyed in the Battle of Canary Wharf, that Torchwood Two is headed by "a very strange man" and that Torchwood Four is currently misplaced. Well that's all fine and dandy, but things are about to start changing. Torchwood One is reopening just outside of London and is now known as Torchwood 1.1 and Torchwood Two's leader has been replaced. Torchwood Three of course isn't any different, with the exception that Jack has been missing for a bit. The big thing is that Torchwood Four is back on the map, headed by the same person it had been before it was 'misplaced'. It seems Torchwood Four, headed by one Major Charlie Sheppard, had a minor malfunction involving Cardiff's rift. In fact, Torchwood Four is located right near Torchwood Three, or at least it was until it and its team got pulled into another universe. Which is where Lucian Devereaux comes in. It seems that he got a hold of a Time Agent's vortex manipulator in the far future and has been using it at his own pleasure. Well, until it backfired and he was sent to the present and made the rift flux, sucking Torchwood Four into it. Luckily, Major Sheppard wasn't there at the time. Now as for Lucian, he'd been jumping through time randomly and unwillingly as he tried to fix the vortex manipulator. During this time he realized that he'd jump from the present in Cardiff to some different point in time and then back. Along the way, he managed to bring back people with him who shouldn't be during that time, and that caused the rift to go haywire, also bringing people to the present that shouldn't be there: those that are dead, those who aren't born yet, and those in other dimensions. And so, Torchwood realized they needed to work extra hard to try and stop this and thus re-established Torchwood Four, somehow convincing Charlie to head it once more. And that is where we begin... Ever at the ready is a Torchwood/Doctor Who RP that allows for any character from either series (old and new) to be incorporated, as well as original characters! It takes place around the start of season two. We've only just started and we're looking for a majority of the canon cast still, including The Doctor (any of them) and most of Torchwood Three. We're also looking for bad guys and aliens to be hunted down, as well as people to fill up the other Torchwood Teams. If you think you're ready, then we're ready to have you join the team! [13 Mar 2008|03:04pm] the held and taken - rules - ability/powers played bys - application "In the struggle for survival, the fittest win out at the expense of their rivals because they succeed in adapting themselves best to their environment." - Charles Darwin. January, 2006. A virus spread quickly through the small town of Darston, Texas. It affected the body's immune and nervous system, killing in a matter of days. No one knew what it was or how it got there but they needed help and they needed it now. The Government quickly took part and assisted the town in any way they could, and also made sure the disease didn't spread to the nearby towns by placing a quarantine that lasted two years. Military forces took over the town and no one walked in or out without their permission. In those two years, many rumors floaed around the town. Some said that virus was a military weapon that the US Government tested on the town; others said that it was the beginning of the plague of the XXI Century; and other said it was simply the way nature worked. But whatever it was, it killed more than half of the population. • • • • Today, it's been two months since the quarantine is over and people are slowly taking up their lives again. Families can go visit their relatives, the children can hope again that this year their parents will take them to Disneyland and the newlyweds can finally have their honeymoon in Hawaii. Everything's back to normal... or is it? A group of people that survived the virus start feeling strange and weird things happen around them. A girl dreams of the future, a basketball player could've sworn he literally flew when he jumped for a slam dunk, things starts to catch on fire for no reason near a girl, people saw a boy being in three places at the same time,... Is it all just their imagination or is something else going on? Could they really have evolved, becoming superhumans? No one's sure, but they need to be careful. Big Brother's still watching. What if a falsified Prophecy had been passed to him instead? The year is 1995, When Harry, Ron and Hermione return to Hogwarts. A few changes have been made to the staff over the summer, the most noticeable being the new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor; A Mr. Tom Marvolo Riddle. His new post is widely questioned by the wizarding world; The man has been convicted of murders throughout the seventies, why would Dumbledore hire him to teach young children? Dumbledore simply plays it off saying that he has applied "twice before". That he has not been able to be convicted of anything. Mr. Riddle has, after all, been studying abroad since the 1980's, and is very knowledgeable on his subject.
