FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1.Okay, I created the detailed character bio and information about myself. Now, where do I send them? How long will it take for my character biography to be critiqued? You need to send them to the mods email at kingsransomrpg[at]aol[dot]com. They will be reviewed and critiqued within 48 hours and you will be contacted with a request for revision or with invitations to join the community.

2. Awesome! My character was approved. But how exactly do I post? Where do I click to create a thread or reply? In order to post a new thread to a journal, you need to be on that community's user info. At the top in the middle there will be a few buttons. One should have a pencil. Clicking this will allow you to create a new post. In order to reply to an existing thread, you should be on the community's main page and click on the link at the bottom of the entry box containing the thread you wish to reply to, to post a comment. Each thread should begin with Who:(who is participating, OTA is Open to All, or specify a character you wish to play out the thread with) Where:(where is the thread taking place?) and When:(what time of day. The specific day and weather conditions will be mod controlled). If you don't have time to post on a day and are afraid you will miss it, please save a post to do later as there are no backdated posts.

3. Are there AOL, MSN, YAHOO chat role-plays too or just journal role-play No, this is exclusively a journal RP. All interaction between characters needs to be done on IJ.

4. I really like the icons and pictures. Any advice on how to get a couple of icons made? Premade icons for certain celebs can be found by googling that celeb along with the word icons, i.e. "brad pitt icons". Making your own icons can be done with whatever paint or photo program you have on your computer using guidelines for size from IJ’s FAQ. There is also an online icon community at rpg_icons at greatestjournal.com. You must join and be a member to view the memories where all the icons are posted.

There is also an online icon maker you can do yourself. It is located here: http://co.ntagio.us/eljay/iconmaker/ . Where it asks for a username, it will only take Live Journal usernames, so don't put it in. But it will still make icons for you.

5. I see this role-play is NC-17. Is slash allowed and if so, how far? I would like to begin this by saying that if bisexual or homosexual behavior is offensive to you, please refrain from joining this RP. With that said, other chars can have whatever sexual preference you choose. Slash is allowed with no limits save that we would like this to be a believable story with a greater storyline than bedhopping. Sex must be believable and well written.

6. Some RPG's have posting time limits. Are there any here? There are no time limits to posting. However, if you are inactive with any character for more than two weeks without reason, we will contact you for a reason. If you are inactive with a character for more than a month, we will assume you have lost interest and remove that character from the game. Please notify the mods with any leave of absence, or other IRL issues.

Also, please be aware that when you are involved in a thread with others that it is only considerate to post in a timely manner. Making others in a thread wait for a few days between posts is unfair. If you will not be around to post in a timely manner, post in your personal journal to keep people updated about your char. It is not necessary to be involved in a thread every day if you cannot manage it.

7. I have a general idea for a character. But I need help, is there anyone who can assist me? Sure. You are welcome to contact any of the mods for assistance.

8. I'm kinda new to role -playing. What does "God-modding" mean? And what about "OOC?" God-modding means that in your writing you say what another character would do. Unless that other character belongs to you, you should not take this liberty.

OOC means Out of Character. This is any time you write as yourself, the mun, instead of your character. All OOC writing should be done in the OOC Journal. It is used for updates, questions and discussions that cannot take place IC or In Character.

9. What are the Moderators names? Mark, Jase, and Ally.

10. Do I need to create an introduction post in the OOC thread? It is not a requirement of joining but we would all like to hear from you upon being accepted so we can welcome you to the RP.

11. Besides good spelling, grammar, detailed posts and character biography. Anything else I should know? Your SS#, address, how to tie your shoes, basic life skills, how to make a simple meal that will impress unexpected guests.

12. Can I create other characters for the game? I know some RPG's have a restriction on the number of characters a mun is allowed. Yes, you may. The limit at this time is 3 chars per person.
