Hey, so, Wren's doing a lot better. She's talking again. And I'm feeling better too. Can we come get the kids? Or you could bring them here. We just want them home, it's been long enough.

[locked to evie s.]

[...] I think I owe you an apology.

[locked to jack c.]

Hey.

[locked to ella d.]

Thanks for helping with the kids.

[locked to anon (helena w).]

I don't think I ever thanked you for your help. So [...] thanks.

Mine was usually followed by rigorous training to make sure I could finish any fights I got into.

I'm not a fan of holding things back.

He was pretty big on training too.

That's probably better than holding everything in.

Yeah? Have you got secrets Luke?

I certainly think so. It made me feel a lot better.

Don't we all?

Is it easy? Or do you have to work at it?

What kind of training?

Saying how I feel? When it's hard, I yell it at the top of my lungs.

[...] You could call it self-defense.

That helps?

But that's not what it really was.

Yeah. Not all the time though, just when I start feeling like my feelings on a subject don't matter.

Not exactly.

That feeling really sucks.

What interesting secrets you have, Luke. Are you using any of it?

It does.

No. I'm retired. It kind of helps with what I do now, but it's different.

No. [...] Uncle Jim was one. And after I was born, my dad hung up the cape and cowl for a while. Became commissioner.

Jim Gordon, right? I always figured he was the only decent cop in Gotham. [...] No way. Bruce, commissioner? How'd that go?

Yeah. He was for a long time until they got the GCPD cleaned up. [...] It went okay. I was little. In my senior year he picked it back up again.

When I first ended up here from Vegas, a couple of my coworkers landed in Gotham. With the GCPD. I thought about joining them, but I didn't want to raise my family there, you know? And I didn't want to do the cross door thing. [...] Was he a good at it?

I know exactly what you mean. If you can avoid raising a family here that's probably the better idea.

He was. But he knew he couldn't be in the cape and cowl when I was little. It was too dangerous.

Marvel has its share of problems, but not like Gotham. It's gotten better.

I can understand that. [...] Part of the reason I, uh, retired. I used to hate cops, law enforcement, the works, but they're not all bad.

Half of Gotham's problem is its people.

We can do things LE can't or might not have the funds to do. It's all about recognizing and realizing which side of the coin you're on.

Yeah, they're [...] one of a kind.

Yeah, you're right. That's exactly how I used to think. Still do, sometimes. [...] Having a family changed things. I used to work security, but it bored me, and then I landed with SHIELD, but that wasn't for me either. I might toe the line sometimes but law enforcement pays the bills and lets me help people at the same time.

That they are.

[...] They need to come first, I get it. I really, really do. I couldn't imagine trying to raise a family with what I do; I'd have to give it up, find a boring desk job somewhere so I could make it home to them at night. [...] And from what I've seen of SHIELD, it's probably better than you didn't stick around.
