Okay. I made my own. [Little crumbs of biscuits appear on the page. She dusts them away.] I can make some for you.

[He supposed it wouldn't be much of a homecoming if there weren't at least one person in crisis. He thought the absences might be at the root of it for Wanda, and if anything he hoped to be a calming presence.

And he was glad she hadn't left the mansion.

He walked - Oddly still walking - and knocked on the door of the room he knew she was in and opened it poking his head inside.] Wanda? It's Charles, may I come in? I heard there were biscuits. [Said with a confident and comfortable smile.]

[Loss was the hardest thing for Wanda to cope with, and losing so many people in so short a time only compounded the effects.

Effects that showed in the room she was in. It no longer looked like a part of the mansion, but now looked like a provincial French apartment, with lots of pale colors and ornate furniture.

True to her word, there was tea (pale, barely warm out of a ceramic pot) and biscuits (also pale, without a trace of flavor). The door came open with a wave of her hand and she smoothed her wrinkled skirt around her thighs.] Come in.

[He found her. Of course he found her, even if she no longer knew quite where she was.]

[He didn't know much about Wanda, not as much as the older version of him might have, but they were friends nonetheless.

And he did like what she'd done with the place even though he could feel some of the confusion radiating from the setting around him.

He stepped into the room and closed the door gently behind him.] Do you want to tell me what happened?

[Oh, he was so young - but this one was, wasn't he? Yes, yes he was, there were memories in there somewhere of this younger Charles with his head full of hair - which she did like. And this one walked too, which was different than her Charles, but also okay, and she always thought that she could have fixed Charles' legs. Maybe she did. Back there. Did she do it here?

Hmm. But there was a question, and her head bobbed, sinking with her eyes fixated on him, on the sounds coming out of his mouth.

Something happened. Of course something happened. Something was always happening -] Yes, I should think so. [Muttered as she looked away from him and reached for her teacup, pulling both cup and saucer into her lap.] I think something awful must have happened, but won't you come sit down for tea first?

[She picked the cup up between thumb and forefinger, and slowly rotated it back and forth, back and forth, watching the last of the water move through the dregs.] Do you know how to read tea leaves, Charles?

[He watched her, staying out of her mind as much as he could - unsure what he would find, knowing it wasn't his to look for.

He sat down. And nodded, tea would be fine. Mostly he just didn't want to leave her alone like this. As impressive as it all was he wasn't sure it came from any place good.] I'm afraid I don't, no.

Oh. [Soft and dreamy, leg extended so her ankle rested on his knee. Not a cushion.] I think you might be real, Charles. [Another roll of the cup.] These leaves have nothing to tell me.

[But Charles said he wanted a cup. Hers went down with a clatter onto the tabletop, the rim chipping, and she left it there, overturned on its side as she poured some of the lukewarm tea into another cup. She'd been alone for days, since she went to Kevin's room and found it empty. Having someone around, someone that was real, that would be good.] I hope you are. [Quiet, so quiet as she offered out the cup to him.]
