[He's stared at this new item on his person for a while, and he finally caves. Too weird. Too, too weird, even for all the madmen he's seen in his life.]

I may be old, but I am not bloody senile, and I know Gotham when I'm in it.

I was supposed to be in Venice tomorrow. I'd quite fancy to be in Venice tomorrow.

I don't doubt that you'll get caught up soon enough.

[...] It is for most people. Some don't adjust very well. But I suppose we did. This is a little different, however. You see, Gotham is part of [...] a door. A world, among many, all connected by a hotel. The people below, from the Marvel door? It's another world. A source. In some places we're all comic book characters.

[Blink. Blink.] We are, Alfred, but it doesn't matter. I'm sorry too. Of course you can come back. I [...] I want you to.

Yes, next time you do these explanations, you may want to offer brandy. I'll need some time to adjust, but that's never stopped me from doing everything I can.

I'll have breakfast ready in the morning. I'll need names, though, sir. Who is living at the manor, and who knows about your colorful nightlife. I'm getting the impression our pool of allies is much larger. [...]. I'm glad for that.

I'll keep that in mind for next time.

The list of people living in the manor is much shorter than the list of people who know about my [...] colorful nightlife. Myself, Jason, Dick, and Stephanie live here, and Eddie is around quite often. I think one of Dick's friends is here, too, a woman named Clementine. She doesn't know anything, and it's a temporary living situation. Damian [...] was living on the property, but all you need to do is watch the news to find out what he's up to now. And practically everyone who does what I do, in this door or Marvel, knows who I am.

[...] I'm glad you're here, Alfred.

Good. I'll help myself to some at the Manor when I know none of you will show up here bloody.

I follow the news very closely, sir. And people seem very free with their feelings on this journal, too. A double-edged sword. Damian's having a Wayne temper tantrum beyond imagination. I can't believe he thinks he's going to get away with that, though. I'll continue to monitor the situation.

[Smiling.]. I'm glad to be here, Master Wayne.

I'd say you deserve it.

[...] Yes. The journals are indeed a double-edged sword. [Blink.] I don't know what Damian thinks, but we're working on finding him. He won't get away with it.

Thank you, sir.

The whole city is trying to find him. But what are you going to do if you get to him first?

I completely support stopping the young master from setting a metaphorical time bomb on the tensions in the city before he gets himself and every one else killed, but if I may, the end of the plan needs a little work. One is typically grounded for breaking curfew, not 206 bones.

How old is he?

I'm still working on that part. What he's done won't just disappear once he's caught.

I know. [...] I don't know what to do. I can get him off the street, but I don't know how to make him understand the severity of what he's done. And that's not even touching upon the aftermath.

Yes, it did. [...] His grandfather is Ra's Al Ghul.

That wasn't so hard to admit, was it? [...] I don't have the answer for you, either, but I feel everyone's acting on instincts instead of reason. We all know that his means more than negate his intentions, but I'm afraid of what violence it would take to make him see he's failed if he fails to care about those policemen.

His grandfather was Thomas Wayne, too.

It was mildly difficult. [...] None of us want to resort to that kind of violence. But this isn't an isolated incident. He's never done anything to this degree, but he attacked Selina and he's been telling us we're all frauds for weeks. He has to understand why his behavior is unacceptable. This can't happen again.

I'm trying to remember that.

And yet you survived. [...] You don't want to, but I believe the police and the mob families don't share your generosity at this moment. Someone is going to get hurt worse. [...] Frauds?

It must not be easy when he's not quite your son, and he's got his own notions of you and the family. But it's not just Ra's al Ghul. If it were, this wouldn't be so hard.

[...] I know. They'll hunt him down. The mobs want him dead, the police will kill him if it comes to that. Which is why we need to find him first, and we have to stop him. [...] That's what he says we are. We don't deserve to protect Gotham.

[Blink. Blink. Blink.] I haven't always done right by him. That goes for all of them, not just Damian. But I've tried. And as angry as I am with him [...] I don't want him to be killed.

Batman's supposed to be the ideal, which I think he's forgotten. You're human, which perhaps he has also forgotten. We don't always make the right choices, even for the people we love. [...] But you're trying for him, for all of them. [...] And I'm proud of you.

I know you and the rest of the [...] bats are busy. Be careful, sir.
