[Max listened, and she drank. She refilled hers, and she refilled Dailey's. She didn't say much while Dailey talked. Habit, and her communication style was on the masculine side. She didn't think to say anything until the end, when Dailey asked about turning her attention to things, and even that required some thought before she spoke.] Knowing the scenery always helps, but I'm not sure I could do the 'feels real' thing. Like I said, I still have trouble with this place. Being back in New York - old New York - really fucked me up when it came to being real or not. [She grinned.] I vote for keeping the hair. [And finally.] I don't know. I haven't been back long enough. I know Corvus tracked down who was testing on the mutants, but he hasn't moved on it yet. I have no idea what Brandon's up to. The kid and I work at SHIELD for the time being, but I have a feeling they're even dirtier than I'm comfortable with. I figure I'll hire out. Feel like running checks on potentials for me?

I suppose it was easier, it being different than home. I didn’t have enough time to second guess anything. What was before me was real enough, and the world itself had its own mind games. I could ignore the ones the hotel used to—usually played. [She smiled thankfully at the refilled wine and took another hearty sip.] Hair will stay, at least for a little while. As for SHIELD, dirtier than when we last were with them? [Her mutation at the time had allowed her to memorize everything she had managed to hack into at SHIELD, and she had seen quite an eyeful. It was the reason she wiped her slate and left it without a thought.] Send me the info and I’ll give it a few goes. You don’t even have to ask. [Another sip.] Nothing changing then, now that Amanda and Thomas are here?

That makes sense. It's like a deep ops, in a way. That becomes your life, and if you live it long enough, then you start believing it. [She considered the question about SHIELD.] I don't know. Last time, they had me watching Captain America. I can't tell what's going on this time, and I don't like backing something that might be torturing people in backrooms. I did enough of that in the CIA. [She grinned when Gwen agreed to check out her potentials, and she fished a pack of smokes out of her pocket and tossed them on the deck table. She lit one, and she exhaled and nodded at her friend.] Thanks. I have two upcoming. You'll have them by morning. No, I don't think anything changes. Brandon's different, Dailey. I don't even think he minds. You'll reach out? He always liked you.
