[After retrieving the poor cow and securing her safe in his dorm room with appropriate food and far away from the disturbing devices of bored college students and their knives (though he leaves the knife taped to the wall...):]

That is not funny.

[-tt-] It wasn't for you.

I know. I'm guessing it was for her, right? I still benefited from not having to worry about the cow in the hall outside my door.

If you worried so much, why not do something?

I've never encountered a cow face to face before. But I know I'm sort of tiny in comparison to one. Especially in the context of a dorm hallway, where is cow very much is not supposed to be, and probably uncomfortable with the whole situation. [...] And the front desk wasn't answering my calls.

Yes, very proactive. You're welcome.

Not all of us can be the cow whisperer. :)

There was no whispering.

Figure of speech.

A lot of figures of speech are, but they still come in handy sometimes.

To understand animals, one need only pay attention. Not whisper.

But so many people don't pay attention. So when someone comes along that does, it seems like magic to them. And they have to make special note of it. Give it a name. [...] I don't think it's actual whispering. Just the ability to interact with them.

Humans have a bad habit of prioritizing our own wants and needs, and assuming our own importance as greater and inherent than any and every other living thing on the planet. That's the problem.

Almost everything prioritizes itself over other things. It's not uncommon in nature. It's just that humans have more of an impact when they do it. [Her history course books were filled with that exact thing.]

No. Nature wishes simply to survive. Humanity seeks domination.

I would have to disagree to say that there are elements of nature whose purpose is to dominate. It might not be in their best interest, but it does happen. Also, humans are a part of nature.
