Connie might have been from Repose, but she didn't spend much time in the woods. Patrick was the outdoorsman of the family (probably stretching back generations of Gunsters) and so she had only ever gone when it was with him. And, even then, it was more like a well worn path or a beautiful beach lakeside. That meant she didn't know the area Atticus was living in now and had to rely on his directions to get there rather than her own memory. In that sense, it was refreshing. So much of Repose was exactly the same since she left. It was nice to walk on a path she hadn't been down before.
She wasn't the bright-blue eyed nerd he would have remembered from her first years at the B&B. No shock white hair sticking up in every direction. No oversized hoodie and nerd leggings. Instead, her hair was a golden wheat, combed down into a loose bun that rested on the nape of her neck. She wore a white peacoat with a thick red scarf sticking out from the collar. Her face was fresh, nails well manicured. That night a party had changed her into Betty Draper was clearly taken to heart and she currently found herself comfortable looking like a pretty blonde, 30 something. Most people in the city thought she was divorced.
In her hand was a basket of cookies and a bottle of wine sticking out from under a soft, flannel blanket. She approached the small blue structure, barely big enough for one person, and knocked on the unfinished wood door. She admired the simplicity of it. The baby blue. She reached a gloved hand to touch the outside, fingers running across the grooves.
