"I brought you some cookies." Connie smiled, brushing hair behind her ear. "Sometimes change is good. Just be happy my baking skills are still spectacular." He moved to let her inside and she reached to give him a hug, not minding that he smelled like a bar. It was surprising, but she didn't judge. Connie had seen the bottom of a personal hole, too. She handed him the basket. The cookies were decorated gingerbread men and the wine was a sweet Riesling. A nice spicy and sweet pair, in her opinion.
She took her coat off and picked at her scarf until it hung loose on her long-sleeved shirt. She found a place to hang the coat and took a seat on the striped chair by his bed. "Why oh why are you living this far out of town?" Connie teased, leveling a look at him.
