Who: Nina Clarke and James Hawkins
Where: The Family Room at The LBJ Library
When: 10/8/15, 1:12PM
What: A LONG-OVERDUE REUNION.
By the time that Nina had arrived at the LBJ Library with Jadyn, James was nowhere to be found at the front doors. It didn't take long for her to find out that he had gone to the Health Clinic, but Nina didn't seek him out immediately. He was involved in whatever emergency had happened out in Austin that had caused Jadyn's men to pull her away from lunch -- and for once, he hadn't caused said emergency. (It was an unfair thought that she didn't like having, but given recent events she didn't think she was entirely out of line.) Intruding so soon, though, felt inappropriate. She was half-convinced her mere presence there at the Library was inappropriate, like she was intruding on the shelter, but Savannah walked right up to her and broke the ice. It was exactly the kind of thing Nina would have hoped herself capable of if she were in the woman's shoes and she thought, certainly not for the first time that week, that the LBJ had a capable ruler at its helm. A few minutes into their conversation, Savannah suggests the shelter's 'family room' as a safe space for her and James to meet. He's still a wanted man, after all, and they'll need privacy. So, emboldened with the tacit permission given to her by the Shelter Leader and feeling amused by the thought of them as a 'family,' Nina makes her way to the Health Clinic and, feeling only vaguely invasive, sticks her head in to look at the man standing there like some kind of guard dog over the injured. "James, do you have a moment?" she asks, her tone of voice just about as normal as she can get it now that she's seeing this ghost from her past -- the famous 'Dog King' of Austin -- face to face for the first time in six years. |
