Rodeo shakes his head instantly, laying his hand down on the table because he ain't sure what to do without a whiskey in his hand when he's havin' a talk such as this. "No ma'am," he says, quick and resolute. "I only killed one of your coworkers in there, only one. Believe me or don't, but I only shot one suit in that office, and it was after warnin' him to stand back. I promise you, I told him my problem wasn't with him, and he kept makin' himself my problem. I only shot that one. If any other suits died in there, it's real likely it was on account of the messy shootin' of them patrol motherfuckers. I'm tellin' you, mama, Big Brother's all newspeak and lies. He's got the people in there workin' with you believin' it's justice they serve when it plain ain't."
Rodeo shakes his head, glancing down at his hand on the tabletop and then taking a deep breath, sinking back against his chair as his eyes lift back up to Nina's face. "I've had a heavy hand. There's no doubt about that. The violence, you know, I brought it down more'n I needed to. That's just my way. But I'm tellin' you, I'm tryin' to pull it back. I'm tryin' to make this legitimate, only fight the battles that need fightin'. 'Cause I know the way they got it, we look just as bad as they want us to. Makes it easy for folks not to question the role they're playin'. I want to change that. I really do. It ain't my goal to kill as many men as possible. If we can change minds, if we can bring folks to our side with the truth, then that's less lives lost in the name o' this wannabe fuhrer. And I ain't lookin' to take his throne, Lady Luck. I'm not built for leadin' like that. I just wanna clear the way for the right man. Or woman. You know I got no bias, darlin'. I just want this place safe for my baby nephew to grow up in. I want it safer for everyone, and makin' a case to change the minds o' the masses, that's the first step. And I don't reckon anyone could make that case better'n you could."
