WHO: Rose Weasley and Rylan Kirke WHAT: Meet your future spouse! WHEN: an off time in the afternoon where hardly anyone is there. WHERE: Diagon Alley, Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor RATING: TBD, probably low? STATUS: Incomplete/Closed
Rose knew it had been coming. The Ministry could only go so long without having her paired. Perhaps it was because she was a risk, being an Unspeakable. Perhaps they thought it would tempt her to tell their secrets. But she had no intention of doing so. It was difficult to accept that she was being forced to marry. She'd have to marry and reproduce with the person the Ministry had paired her with. She felt as though they were taking her freedom. Shouldn't she have a choice in who she was going to marry? She had come to accept the fact that doing what the Ministry required was the only way to keep herself out of trouble and in work.
So, she'd recieved the name of her pair...Rylan Kirke. She only vague remembered him from school. Possibly just from in passing, or hearing his name said by someone. Really, she didn't even have a real picture of what he looked like anymore. It had probably been at least nine years since she'd seen him last, if not more. He had been a few years ahead of her. But age really didn't matter all that much, not when they were doing the inevitable. She wrote him an owl, asking him to meet her at Florean's Ice Cream Parlor, simply because it was a public place that she was comfortable with. She figured after that first meeting, it wouldn't be entirely awkward to go to either of their homes.
It wasn't every day when someone had to go meet the person they were marrying when they had never truly met that person before. She dressed slightly above casual. Nice jeans and a dressy blouse, just because she wanted to at least make a nice first impression. She left her hair down in curls, and she'd settled herself into a seat outside under an umbrella, watching the few shoppers that were around during this off time of day and year move from shop to shop. She had bought some ice cream to calm her nerves, knowing that she'd need it. Her favorite...mint. Her watch indicated that he should be there soon, but that only made her more nervous. She resorted to pulling the spoon through the treat, wondering what he was like. Would he hate her? Was he going to resent her? Would he be understanding and pleasant? Would they be able to live in peace? Would she be uprooted from her home, or would he come to hers? How were they going to manage being compliant with the ministry when they only knew one another's name?
