THANKSGIVING
The end of this fic, always leaves me weak in the knees. It might, quite possibly be one of the most beautiful things written in this fandom.

THANKSGIVING by Myrna

Did you enjoy the ending as much as I always do?

I do think it's important to sometimes take into account when a fic was written because clearly fans who watched as the show aired didn't have all the answers or complete picture. However, I agree that Myrna's Jennifer is harsh...and I didn't often approve of Jennifer's actions, in much the same way that I don't often approve of Myrna's. ;)

Yet, I'm oh so willing to ignore the over-harsh characterization of Jennifer for the ending of this fic because I think it's just gorgeous.

ABSOLUTELY make an IJ and come play with us. :)

In this case I don't think it's because of incomplete viewing or the time of writing the fic. Especially because it's written after season 3. Jennifer's character had more or less been defined as a mother who loved her son unconditionally, trying hard to accept all that was her son even though she had been weak, awkward and confused and did some mistakes. Something about Jennifer just rubbed Myrna the wrong way, I suppose. Perhaps it's because Jennifer didn't drag Justin back home and just let her husband throw Justin out of their house (that was indeed kinda lame of her. My mother would shoot my father first), or because Jennifer blamed Brian for Justin's bashing and then shoved Justin right back at Brian before taking any convincing actions to help Justin herself (but really I think that's only due to sloppy writing by QaF's writers), or because somehow she didn't pay for Justin's tuition :P It doesn't matter, Myrna just seemed to despise the character somehow and it's kinda heavy on her fics... :) I like Jennifer, I think she's adorable just like Justin. In fact she's so much like Justin, including total unawareness when people are taking a poke at her (like when Ethan insinuated about 'good parents and paying for tuition' and she didn't seem to get it. That crack me up all the time XD)

Oh thanks, perhaps I'll make an account here after all:>

I think there's still an argument to be made that Jennifer isn't quite 100% committed to the idea of Brian and Justin by the end of season 3. She loves her son though and that part of the characterization is wrong. But, while I'm not a huge fan of Myrna's writing, perhaps she merely used Jennifer as a plot device. Having said that, I'm trying to really defend her characterization...it's definitely off, I just have an easier time ignoring it. :)

Yes...yes and yes. I don't think a lot of people understand exactly what's going on there.

Yes, make an account...we have fun around here. :)
