We begin in the middle of nowhere. Or Altuna. ;)

Aaand we get a mention of Justin's birthday, and of Brian buying him a present (okay, it's a magazine subscription, but it's better than a hooker). But clearly the birthday thing is no longer a source of tension between them. Yay!

It's great to see the boys out and having fun with each other, even if it is about 12 degrees.

Also, they are out in freezing weather in the middle of nowhere to have sex with each other. Which they could have done, you know, anywhere. LOL. Gotta love them.

J: This sucks.
B: And not in a positive, life-affirming way.

Hee! The famous line.

Return to the Loft
[info]britin1729
2014-01-10 04:14 am UTC (link)
And we go from cold to HOT. Damn.

I love the colors too...orange is the new blue, as we see here. I love that no matter if it's in some old truck or by returning to the loft, BJ are really all about returning to each other here.

Brian bitches about Stockwell ruining their fun, and Justin poitns out that Brian was the one who helped him. Brian looks thoughtful as Justin gets up.

I feel like there's a lot of reclaiming lost things in this episode. B/J are reclaiming their relationship, and also their world from Stockwell. Hunter is reclaiming his lost childhood, or beginning to, which I'll talk about more in a later scene.

The Diner
[info]britin1729
2014-01-10 04:20 am UTC (link)
Michael and Ben have been out searching the streets for Hunter, so that they can tell him about his HIV+ status. Debbie warns them that they could get in big trouble, Ben wants to play the hero anyway, because of course he does. That's why we love him.

Side note-- Idk whether you've ever seen the show Major Crimes, but there is this kid, Rusty, on there who reminds me so much of Hunter. A blond teenaged hustler, a bit rough around the edges, betrayed by his mother, who ends up supporting himself on the streets before being taken in by a loving parental-figure (or two, in Hunter's case). Also they both have a hand in catching a killer-Rusty is a witness set to testify against a murderer, and Hunter of course takes a role in the Jason Kemp investigation. There's also some confusion as far as sexuality goes, with Hunter realizing he's straight, and it's being heavily hinted at that Rusty might be gay. Just thought there were a lot of interesting connections! It had me wondering more than once if one of the writers for MC might be a QAF fan, lol.

Brunch with the Munchers
[info]britin1729
2014-01-10 04:21 am UTC (link)
You really feel just how outside of everyone Ted is in this scene. Their lives are together, Em's party planning business is succeeding, Mel and Linds are on their feet and starting a college fund... and Ted is just drowning.

The girls and Em not so subtly introduce the idea of Ted managing Gus's college fund as something to keep him busy.

The Master at Work
[info]britin1729
2014-01-10 04:32 am UTC (link)
Watching the master work... I love scheming Brian, and even more when there is a scheming Justin by his side. They make such a devious team.

I can't remember what I thought the first time I saw this scene...if I bought into his act or if I knew something was up.

"I don't really have bad ideas." No, never, except when you do ;) Luckily he also has some really brilliant ideas. Also his partner's a genius. That helps. So whose idea do you think this was exactly? Or did they both contribute to this plan? Did Brian take Justin's words to heart and propose this plan to him?

"Go kiss some hands. Shake some babies." Lol!!

Ted and Em and Dr. Crystal (oh my!)
[info]britin1729
2014-01-10 04:41 am UTC (link)
Ted's not thrilled with Mel and Linds's "project" to keep him busy.

And then they run into Dr. Mark, who's clearly high (which Em immediately recognizes). Unfortunately, his drug senses don't tingle for Ted whenever he's high.

The GLC
[info]britin1729
2014-01-10 04:49 am UTC (link)
I'm always waiting...waiting for it while Stockwell's talking...and then....

Yes!! Justin and Deb and the others cut right through Stockwell's bs and force Stockwell to try to talk his way out of the truth. Stockwell's police force hasn't been too helpful with the LGBT community these last few years.

It's hard to say who's my favorite here... Deb with her Jason Kemp poster, Jenn with her Justin poster, Daph, Brian... so much awesome!

And then Stockwell has that little moment of realization on the way out....

LOVE this scene like woah.

Vic, Ted, Em
[info]britin1729
2014-01-10 05:05 am UTC (link)
Vic and Em are busy with their new business. Ted's desperately trying to find a way to stay busy that doesn't involve Mark.

Em's "as hard as I try, absolutely nothing comes to mind" reminds me of Brian's "try as I might, I can't think of anything else" from 314!

Em encourages Ted to go out. Unfortunately, Ted takes his advice.

Love it! The ladies fauning over brilliant Justin (LOL).

"I have my deep throat." Lol!! Of course he does.

Meanwhile Brian isn't taking any credit, but Deb sees through him anyway.

"It had the hand of the master all over it." Yes!

Michael, whatever he says, seems to be expecting more of Hunter these days.

Oh Michael, you know your childhood cannot be compared to Brian's.

Ted
[info]britin1729
2014-01-10 05:25 am UTC (link)
Wtf are you doing, Ted??? This is one of those stories where you can see all the mistakes the character makes, and it makes sense with where they are mentally, yet it's so difficult to reconcile them with their past self. I just keep seeing S1 Blake and Ted, and comparing them to S3 Ted and Em. (Another example is S4 pink posse Justin...something so ooc that it shouldn't make sense, and yet it does.)

Dr. Mark invites Ted along to the Palm Springs White Party...and it seems so crazy that Ted would say yes, and yet..

Ben, Hunter, Michael
[info]britin1729
2014-01-10 05:32 am UTC (link)
Hunter is luckier than he even realizes to have Ben in his life now. So crazy to think Hunter changed his life forever by deciding to work outside Michael and Ben's apartment that night in 308.

"I'm a kid, remember?"

It's interesting that Hunter reminds Ben of his age, because usually he's all about taking care of himself, whatever that might entail. In so many ways he's not a kid anymore, his childhood has been stolen. But here he's reminding Ben of his own identity, that of a child, and in doing so he's starting to reclaim that title and that life that he missed out on.

"We're doing this."
"No, you're doing this." Give it time, Michael, you'll be doing this too.

"Actually, we're related. By blood."

Get Ready...
[info]britin1729

SO much to love in this scene!!! Like with Ted earlier, it's almost difficult here to reconcile them with their angsty S2 selves. They're just so united and happy and in love. :)

I adore every bit of their conversation, lol:

B: "It's a real beauty."
J: "Yeah, I'm kind of proud of it myself."
B: "Where should we stick it?"
J: "City Hall, police headquarters...up his ass. We'll annihilate the fucker."
B: "Well, don't be so sure. It's only a poster."
J: "Only? The last one sent him around the bend. They even wrote an editorial about it in the paper. Think of the stink when they see this one."
B: "How'd you get to be such a clever devil?
J: "I learned from the master."

Almost ready....
[info]britin1729

So Vance has figured out that Brian and Justin are working together, that Brian set him up.

S: That kid who was shouting out those names? Justin Taylor? I knew I'd seen him somewhere before. Then I realized: it was here.

Guess Stockwell's not a big believer in coincidences? Lol. But really that line is so dramatically delivered, and with the music building in the background, it's just great.

READY TO GO!!!!
[info]britin1729
2014-01-10 06:00 am UTC (link)
As much as I would love an uninterrupted, uncensored view of B&J, I love the cut scenes with Vance and Stockwell. They add so much tension!

The BJ scenes here are complete LOVE. They start up against the pole (the same one they fucked against after Justin returns home from Vermont, in the fixable spirit of S3).

"And they were both there tonight."

Meanwhile, BJ undress each other as they make their way around the loft. And they wear matching undies of love!!

"Because he's a fag." Fuck you, Stockwell!

At one point Brian is on his knees, worshiping teh Justin. OMG. Brian removes Justin's sock and I MELT. They are all over each other and TEH LOVE is overpowering here!

"One guess whose idea it was to do that." Heh...yeah...

We cut back to find Brian and Justin all finished with their foreplay, but not with the fucking, unfortunately, because they get interrupted. And Brian actually STOPS to answer the door because of course he does. He's Brian. That's why we love him....or something.

"What's the matter? Haven't you ever seen two guys fucking before?" LOL. You know I'm not so sure they have. Stockwell is too angry for words. He smashes up the poster and walks out, with Vance following. It's pretty much understood here that Brian and Justin are both fired so hard. And speaking of hard...

"Wanna finish?"

After just having watched the beginning of the Vance/Brian work relationship in S2, it's interesting to watch the end of it. Idk that I would call them friends, but they do seem to have (or had) a mutual respect at least.

"You wouldn't understand."
"Why not?"
"Because, you're straight."
"Whatever the reason you just fucked yourself out of a job."

[info]britin1729

Michael still doesn't love the idea of Hunter being there, but we see the beginnings of Michael's caring for Hunter. Just think, 3 episodes from now he's risking it all to save him!

I don't get why Michael and Ben think Hunter must attend school lol.

Michael follows Hunter into the hallway. He doesn't think Hunter's coming back, but he doesn't want Ben getting his hopes up. Hunter snaps at him and makes me wonder for a moment why Ben is hoping for his return... ;)

Em's freaking out about Ted. It turns out he's mysteriously disappeared. And know what else has disappeared? Gus's college fund, as we learn when Mel and Linds show up.

[info]britin1729
2014-01-10 06:21 am UTC (link)
This is one of the best Deb/Brian scenes IMO. Brian's getting drunk and high, and Deb stops by to feed him, because of course she does ;)

"It was your favorite when you were a kid."
"No it wasn't."
"Don't argue with me, you fucking loved it." Lol!

As angry as she was about him helping Stockwell, she's genuinely sorry that he lost his job, and she's also so proud.

"I was escorted out of my office and off the premises by a security guard without so much as a ball point pen." Poor Brian. Was the security guard really necessary? Also I like that this line is repeated in S4—continuity! Brian must have been telling everyone this over and over.

"Damn right you did. What you and Sunshine were up to was treacherous and deceitful...and I have never been so fucking proud of you in my life." Aww!!

"Thanks, Ma." :D

Brian's look when she talks about Woodstock is almost impressed, lol.

"I believe it's your innate goodness." It's true!! Brian's laughing cracks me up, though!

"So, lay off the bad boy routine. Cause you're too old for it, and...it isn't true." :)

This scene is so great- I love high!Debbie&Brian. It's a good mix of sweetness, profoundness, and comedy. :D

"There's always unemployment. I suppose you could write your memoirs. There seems to be an endless fascination among the masses with reveling the downfall of the once mighty." Lol! Oh Justin, I love you.

Brian would rather fuck his brains out, but where? The backroom is still closed. What's a horny BJ to do? Standing around bareassed in the back of an 18 wheeler is only a suitable option when it's at least 50 degrees or higher. *nods*

"I could always make my mother's meatloaf, honey. And we could look at photos of when we took the kids to Disney World." Well there's that I suppose... *cracks up*
