Brian glanced over to see that Justin had a handful of black scarves he had pulled from the bottom drawer of the nightstand.

Justin licked his lips as he offered the scarves to Brian. “Show me?”
Brian frowned, obviously undecided if his seventeen year-old stalker was ready for bondage games.
“Please?”
Brian’s cock woke up, and he pushed Justin lightly onto the bed, quickly restraining him and going over the rules.

Michael fingered the white, silk scarf on display and felt a slight, knowing twist in his stomach.
“You okay?” Ben was holding their shopping bags.
“Yeah,” Michael sighed, “I was just remembering.”
Ben stepped closer, put their bags in one hand then wrapped one arm around Michael’s shoulders to draw him closer.
“When he wore this, all bloodied--I finally fucking knew I never…God, I wasted so much time…you’re the best thing that ever happened to me and...”
Michael didn’t finish what he was whispering. Ben kissed his temple and didn’t say anything. He knew when to be quiet. |

It’s a cold night when Justin remembers. Not enough, not nearly enough.
Brian slid the warm wool scarf around his neck before sending him on his way.
“Later.” Brian had said. Nothing special, nothing remotely extraordinary.
Justin nodded without thinking, “Later.”
It wasn’t until the rattle of the mechanical door of Brian’s loft shut that Justin memory was jostled. He realises he’s holding the scarf in his hands the exact same way he had that night. He remembers twiddling the soft fabric, but that’s all.
It’s nothing at all really. Until Justin sees Brian's face, then it seems like everything. |

Brian sighed as he padded silently through the kitchen, shutting out lights and securing the loft for the night.
The sheer breeder normalcy of this newest bedtime ritual should have been enough to send him stalking into the night, searching for oblivion in the seductive comfort of Babylon, the back room, and mind-numbing amounts of narcotics washed down with whiskey chasers.
But the deceptively light touch of a soiled scarf lay coiled against his neck like a poisonous snake, reminding him that everything had changed again with the innocent swing of a child’s bat.
Tonight, he hoped, was for healing. |
