Brian limps down the sidewalk, biting his lip against the pain in his ankle. A bruise is starting to color the side of his jaw and swelling has already forced one eye nearly closed. His toes feel stiff and numb; he didn't even put on sneakers before he ran out of the house. The cold night air chills the bare skin of his arms and burns his dripping nose. He wipes his eyes with the back of his hand as he slowly climbs up the front steps. He doesn’t want to be crying when Deb opens the door this time. |

Author’s Notes: Doesn’t go with the blackout challenge, so no condom on this one. I found it in a file of my old drabble attempts and really liked it. I only had to tweak it a little, surprisingly.
Shit. You don’t know what to do. Try… clichéd words.
“It’s NOT ok!”
And he’s right, because when he scrambles away from you like that… it can’t be ok.
You pull his underwear from between the sheets. Stand in front of him as he steps into them. His hand - the stiff clump of fingers he’s using to awkwardly pull them up - slips.
And the sob cracks out of him and his body seems to collapse in on itself.
Forget fucking and fucking words. Grab him and hold him so tight he has to know that you will make it ok. |

Brian wakes up on the floor of his mother’s kitchen - head throbbing, eye swollen shut, a dull ache throughout his body. It’s dark out and he can hear his father’s muffled snores from upstairs.
His brain struggles to catch up. It must be the middle of the night. He tries to remember how he ended up here, blacked out on the kitchen floor.
He remembers going to school, hanging out at the diner, walking home for dinner… fuck. Getting home late for dinner.
Doesn’t remember - but feels - the one punch that knocked him out.
Realizes… they left him lying here. |
