Justin found Brian on the hospital roof, shivering in the freezing cold night.
“Here,” he said, “I brought your coat. You don’t want to get sick.”
“Thank you.” Brian gratefully put on the coat but continued to gaze up at the night sky. He wrapped his arms around Justin and pulled him into a tight embrace, deeply inhaling the comforting smell of his partner.
“They’ll be alright,” Justin said, “the doctors managed to stop the labor.”
“I know… I was just… so… fucking scared…”
“Yeah, me too.”
Right that moment Brian saw the shooting star and made a silent wish. |

“No way, Sunshine!” Brian said decidedly, “I’ve already seen more twat than I ever wanted to see in my whole life. You go… she’s your best friend.”
“I don’t really want to either,” Justin answered meekly, “but we mustn’t upset her. Dr. Callahan warned us that Daphne can’t have any stress till the baby is born. And she told me that she trusts both of us to be there for the birth. So… what can we do? It’s for moral support.”
Brian snorted, rolling his eyes in exasperation.
“Moral support, my ass… the lady has us by our balls now.”

“At first, no one realized he was gone.” Deb studied her nails nervously. “His mother was wrapped up in some Hanukkah-Christmas Interfaith Goodwill Network, and his father only noticed Brian when he was pissing him off in person.”
“What happened?” Justin whispered.
“Well, apparently Pittsburgh’s young gay runaways tend to head to the Big Apple.” Deb said with a knowing look in his direction.
Justin blushed and squirmed.
“But without a stolen credit card, he ended up on Vic’s doorstep.” |

Accidentally in Love
“Can I ask you a question?” he said as he flipped the wipers to high. “I mean, without you going into denial.”
“Downshift, Gus. You’re going too fast for this rain.”
“See? Denial.”
“I’m giving myself a moment to prepare.”
“Yeah, yeah,” he grumbled as he switched gears. “When did you know you were in love with DaddyJ?”
Surprised, Brian considered the question, then admitted with a shrug, “It was an accident. There was never really a definitive moment, more like a what the fuck just happened? type of thing.”
Patiently, Brian waited for the inevitable. “Dad? There’s this girl…” |
