Hunter sat on the sofa, his ipod blaring, trying to block out the noise his fathers and what seemed like a house full of people, but it reality was probably about 20, were making,
Ben’s idea to throw Michael a surprise birthday party had turned out surprisingly successful. The shocked look on Michael’s face when he walked in and everyone yelled ‘surprise’ was genuine.
Trying to keep the plan from him for weeks had caused him and Ben more than one headache.
He hoped when he got to Michael’s age, he would be lucky enough to have friends like these. |

He knew he hadn’t left the house in weeks, as if by stepping through the door, he may never be able to walk in again.
He was paler than ever, lines on his face seemed to have materialized from nowhere.
Everyone had tried to get him to take an interest in the world again but all attempts had been rebuffed.
“Mikey.”
“What?”
“Talk to me.”
“I miss him.”
