Not Everything [Sep. 25th, 2010|09:33 am]

I have been thinking about this theme, thus this week's challenge over at [info]qaf_drabbles. I have had a couple folks comment to me in such a way that indicated they interpreted that this theme applied solely to Episode 314, Brian and Justin. From my perspective, the entire Season 3 was fueled by this theme: Not Everything.

Lindsay convincing Mel the landmark case was Not Everything. Ted said to Emmett, when closing jerkatwork.com, he lost everything and Emmett said, "you still have me."

Hunter thought he was worth nothing.

You can find sacrifice and loss and unexpected gain in every episode of Season 3 and in almost every scene.

And there's less obvious ways it ran through the Brian and Justin arc. Justin thought he wasn't going to be able to go to school once he and Brian were no longer together. Brian almost lost his freedom, due to his sick, homophobic nephew.

Then there's Ben and his steroid use, he lost sight of the fact that he still had Michael and that he was still alive and had his life ahead of him.

It goes on and on.

How do you interpret the phrase? What does it mean to you? Where does it resonate strongest for you in this season and with which character(s)?
