first had like to introduce myself again,am a qaf addict have been in this fandom for 2 years now am a reader only .this is the first discusion forum have been in.anyways i was thing about what is realty as in what is probable,i know that qaf sometimes had realities that raised our eye brows,a good example is how quick brian went throw cancer into the marathon bike ride ,but then again the timelinne of the show was so had to pin point that it was not really clear if this was doable in real life or not. so anyways in writing fics how much are the writers bound by reality and do most reader mind if they are not,because to me even though the fic are based on a tv show they are still human characters thus there is human limitaions i associate with that. i read this fic recently where a 16 year old gus had invested his summer earnings and manged to have enough money for not only college but grad school and a car,well 4 years of collge will cost you atleast 50,000 dollars grad school right know is atleast 100,000 dollars,my first thought when i read this was, what kind of job was he doing how old was he when he stated working and what are the child labour law in canada none of which were explained by the writer except that ted help him invest the money which still does not add up,what i did not understand was if gus is 16 and going to college then it means he is really smart why din't the writer just give him full academic scholarship?.the reunion fics are even more quilty of this have read fics in which justin stayed in ny for 3 months and managed to have a big show ,everyone new him in the art schene he could know paint anywhere because he now was a successful artist in ny.there are so many examples i can give,but the point is the same .so am i alone in this? what do others think. |
