Show and Tell: The Music Edition
Our busy-busy Bunny hasn’t had much time to play lately, and she’s suggested that she could use a little help with keeping the QAF love alive and thriving. To that end, [info]etextraordinary, [info]frantic_quest and I will start posting Show and Tells on Fridays (yes, it really does take three regular fangirls to do a fraction of the work of one Bunny. ;))

♥ ♥ ♥

So on with the showing and telling ...
The music in QAF is one of the greatest things about this show. How often have we watched a scene, not paying much attention to the music in the background at first, only later to realize just how perfectly the lyrics fit the moment? The first time I really noticed was the dozenth or so time I watched the end of 204 and actually paid attention to the lyrics of "Chiquitita" – and ended up in tears.

Since then I've realized there are many, many examples where the music adds so much to the story – and I want to discover them all!

Come play Show and Tell and share some of your favorites!

I love so much of the music... Sadly I don't know all the episodes or song names, but I'll try.

"Welcome to my head" by Thunderpuss when Justin is drawing after Cody stirred his post-bashing trauma up again. That scene was so incredibly powerful and the song is perfect.

That chorale song that is played somewhere in 509 when Brian hallucinates that Michael comes to Babylon. It was like a serenade to farewell Babylon as it is, because it's bombed in the next episode. It was so haunting, I got the shivers.

Also, 402 when Emmett is back at Babylon, dancing to "Mundian To Bach Ke" by Punjabi MC. I was so happy he was back ♥

Then, who could forget "Straight to number one"? Whenever I hear it, I think of the reverence and adoration on young Justin's face. Sigh.

When Justin goes back to the loft in 301 to get his things. The song is just so beautiful and makes me so sad, coupled with the shower scene...

The way they blended Babylon's clubbing music with Ethan's violin until it's only the violin as Michael tells Brian that Justin's seeing someone. It breaks my heart, but I could watch that scene over and over and over. Hauntingly beautiful.

And the beginning of 312! It's one of my absolute favourite club scenes because the music is great and the way it's shot is just amazing. I adore it like no one's business.

And don't forget "Cha Cha"! How it starts out with glimpses and then comes the deep, dirty beat and BAM! You've got Justin and Brian dancing in slow motion.

And the song at the end of 314! So beautiful.

Okay, I'd better stop now, my family needs the computer, haha. I could go on for ages!

Did you see the Princess of Babylon link [info]kari77 posted above? It's the complete QAF song list, organized by episode, and a huge help when you're grasping to remember what song you heard where!

All of these are such great choices! I love this: Then, who could forget "Straight to number one"? Whenever I hear it, I think of the reverence and adoration on young Justin's face. - yes, "reverence" is the perfect word here. (But then whose bad idea was it to re-use this song a few episodes later for Michael and Dr. Dave?? Yikes!)

I've seen that site before, but I was on a different computer and didn't have it in the bookmarks, so thank you ♥ It's brilliant!

I'm having a S1 marathon at the moment and I saw that scene with Michael and David today. I fastforwarded because I just couldn't stand to watch it! I don't know, I'm really not into Michael's sex scenes, but David was so annoying. (Although at times he does have his moments.) That said, when we saw him with glasses on I actually squealed "Oh, BEN!" until I realized, nooo... Dammit. Haha.

Ooo I'd forgotten all about the scene that goes back and forth between babylon and ethan's place. I LOVE how they blended the music there too.

And of course, you can never go wrong with Cha Cha! :)

I know, it's so awesome how it starts out clubby and techno-y and then it fuses with the violin until the violin tunes the club music out... Like Ethan, he's slowly taking up Brian's space. But of course we know that in fact, the thumpa-thumpa goes on, no matter how many violins are playing!

Whoot, Cha Cha!
