Awkwardness, anyone?
WHO: Jason & Kate
WHAT: Kate's shadowing him at work.
WHERE: Gunter Studios.
WHEN: ALL DAY. Lmfao.
RATING: Who knows? TBD.
OPEN? To [info]stillnotkatie only.

To say that Jason was a little nervous and apprehensive about Kate shadowing him at work would be a complete understatement. While he did want to see her again and spend some time with her, he knew that things couldn't be like they had been before. They weren't together anymore, they weren't dating. He had a girlfriend, she had a boyfriend. They were only going to be friends, and that was really for the best. Though Jason had never really completely gotten over Kate, he knew that they could really be no more than friends. Things couldn't miraculously return to the way they had been when he had said goodbye to her when she left to come here. He couldn't hold open his arms and let her run into them and hug and kiss her, no matter how much he thought about it. And then, after thinking about it, he always felt incredibly guilty.

Pushing all those thoughts out of his head, Jason focused on the task at hand. He was sitting at his desk about ten minutes before Kate was scheduled to show up, and he couldn't exactly concentrate on the things he was supposed to do today. He had saved some developing for a project for when she showed up, to give her something to do. He figured that, since she was a photography student now, she knew how to develop without his help. Which just made him smile, of course. He couldn't get over the sense of pride and the little bit of nostalgia he felt whenever he thought about Kate going into photography. However small of a part he played in that decision, he still played a part in a huge decision in her life. It touched him, really. And then he ended up feeling guilty again. 'Hey, Jason! There's a Kathleen Shore here to see you? She says that she's supposed to be career shadowing you.' Jason looked up at the sound of his co-worker's voice, and he nodded. "Yeah, send her on back, please," he said, reaching a hand up to run through his hair. He needed to get his head together, and fast.

Kate tried not to think about the past too much when it came to Jason, especially during that month when she had broken up with him and how she felt after it was over because it was such a hard time for her then. It happened over a year ago, but thinking about what emotions that Kate was going through and how upset she was got to her after a while. Kate cried herself to sleep for a few nights, barely ate for a while and just generally was in a pretty bad mood for quite some time after she had broken up with Jason. It took her friend’s from school months to get Kate to start to going out and mingling again, and even longer to even consider going on any dates. Kate never brought herself to go on an official date with someone, her relationship with Jamie ended up just falling into place after they drank a little too much at a party and ended up sleeping with each other. The past was the past, and Kate couldn’t do anything about it now since things had changed so much in a year. Kate was lucky enough that she could reconnect with Jason at all considering before she had ran into him with Nicole she though Jason was still living in Seattle.

The memory of Kate’s mother talking to Jason when she wasn’t aware that her and Jason were already seeing each other put a smile on her face. Kate’s mother was stupid and she caught on to them pretty quickly, but there was a time when Jason and Kate tried to keep their relationship under wraps because of their fear that her parents would not approve of the age difference between them. Jason was only four years older then Kate, but back when she had just turned eighteen it sounded so much older then now that she was twenty. “I remember that, and still think it is funny,” Kate said with a smile. It didn’t surprise Kate that her mother would do that since the two of them were so close, practically best friends. What Jason said next made Kate laugh more, though she knew that if she had heard about that earlier while on the island she would of probably gotten angry at Simon. “He actually said that to you?!” Kate said in between laughs. “No wonder you were so afraid of my Dad.”

Jason turned into a complete mess after he and Kate broke up, it took awhile for him to be himself again. He went out drinking more often, tried to drown his sorrows in alcohol. He was never the guy who went out and had fun at the bar … he was the quiet guy you saw sitting at the bar with about ten empty beer bottles around him, not talking to anybody. Marcus finally found him up at the bar one night and dragged him home, trying to convince him that no girl was worth putting himself through that mess. Jason disagreed, but he let Marcus help clean his act up. After awhile, the pain started to ease, and Jason was finally able to go out and have fun, but he’d still catch himself thinking about Kate all the time, especially when he was alone. He lost count of the number of times he picked up the phone to call her, but always ended up stopping himself from doing it. Which, was a good thing. At least, that’s what he told himself. And then, he got the job offer in Providence. A few months too late. He actually considered not taking it, but decided that it was too good an opportunity to pass up. He would just stay away from Kate until he was ready to be just friends with her.

A small smile crossed Jason’s face as he thought about Kate’s mom, and he shook his head. “Your mom was always a trip. Trying to give me insider information. And guess what – I didn’t need any of it!” he smiled. Resting his hands on the counter on either side of him, Jason studied her for a moment while she thought. He remembered the whole sneaking around thing, and how much of a pain in the butt it was. Always worried about being caught. But it was what Kate wanted, so he wasn’t going to go against what she wanted just to make things easier for himself. Shaking his head as she said her dad’s threats were funny, Jason laughed again. “No, no. They were not funny. They had me absolutely terrified of your father,” he said, unable to hide the smile on his face. “Remember? Whenever he’d be anywhere near us, I’d immediately drop your hand and take like five steps to the side,” he laughed at the memory. Raising a brow as she laughed harder about the exact threat Simon made, Jason nodded. “Yeah, he actually said that to me! I was terrified,” he smirked.

If Kate had known what her breaking up with Jason did to him then she would probably feel even more terrible then she already did. So, because of that she was glad that she didn’t know and part of her never wanted to find out. Kate still really couldn’t get over the fact that it was her who gave up on the two of them. Jason was Kate’s first love and first person that she had complete faith in. Considering what the two of them had been through and how strongly she felt for Jason she really couldn’t believe that she was actually capable of doing what she did. Though, she remembered how lonely she felt in those months when they were apart, but it was nothing compared to how she felt right after she broke up with him. Kate rarely cried over someone, but she had lost count of how many times she had cried over Jason. She felt terrible for what she did, though Kate always was the one to ruin relationships, wasn’t she? Though, the past as the past and Kate certainly couldn’t chance it now. Kate then thought about Jamie and suddenly felt bad for him that he was stuck with her. What the hell was she going to do to ruin her relationship with him?

As much as it hurt to remember all of the times that Kate and Jason had together on the island, Kate still liked to do it. They had so many great memories and stories from that year, the two of them travelled to Mexico, France and an island off of Africa together, so there was no way they wouldn’t have great memories. “Yeah, she was always one to try and lend a helping hand even if technically it wasn’t needed,” Kate said, smiling back at Jason. It had been so long since Kate had really been able to talk about her time with Jason out loud, she had been too upset to do it before and she didn’t want to talk about her ex boyfriend a lot when she started dating Jamie, and even though it caused the ache in her heart to grow, it also felt good to go through the memories with the one person who was also in them. Jason bringing up how terrified he was of Simon made Kate laugh more. She had never seen what was so scary about her dad, but that was because he was that, her father. Simon was a tall man, and Kate was pretty sure that to anyone else he probably did look really intimidating. “Yeah, I remember that. Though, I am pretty sure he knew we were seeing each other all along. You were like the only guy I hung out with on the island and he called you my boyfriend right before I admitted it to him,” Kate said. “But the bright side is he didn’t kill you.”

Jason didn’t have any plans to tell Kate anything that he went through when they were apart, after she broke up with him. That was the past, and he didn’t want to bring any of it up. He had put that all behind him, and tried to move on with his life. He just wasn’t aware that moving on with his life would bring him closer to her, the one thing that they had broken up over. Distance. Jason was going to try his hardest to just be friends with Kate, and he was going to try to keep things comfortable between them, since he hated awkwardness. It wasn’t going to be easy, and he’d probably spend a lot of his time alone thinking, but he could do it. He was stronger than he gave himself credit for, really. If Jason knew that Kate was blaming herself, he probably would have done everything in his power to make her see that it wasn’t all her fault. He was the moron that didn’t tell her that he was looking for a job in Providence to move closer to her. He was the moron that didn’t tell her that he was looking for apartments in Providence, too. He should have told her, and he kicked himself for that all the time.

He liked remembering the times they had spent together too, even if it hurt every once in awhile. Most of the memories were good ones, fun ones. They had a few fights, but so did every other couple. A relationship wasn’t functional if you didn’t fight every once in awhile. It was normal! Jason ran his hand through his hair and smiled at her. “Your mom was always nice, though,” he said, nodding. He grabbed his canister and checked his watch, nodding. “It’s time to take the film out,” he told her, surprised at how fast the fifteen minutes had flown by. He swirled the chemicals around another time before he hopped off the counter and opened the lid. “No, your dad never killed me. Which, yeah. That’s definitely a bright side,” he laughed, smiling over at her as he dumped the chemicals into the sink, turning on the water to wash them down. Pulling the circular wheel out of the canister, Jason set the canister in the sink and then unwound the film, shaking it out a couple times to get the excess chemicals off. He hung the line of film up with a clothes pin, and turned the fan on it.

Kate did her best to not think about the past and what happened between her and Jason while the two of them stood around in a dark room, but it was an extremely hard thing to do. Whenever someone told you not to think about something it would all of a sudden be the only thing on your mind, what Kate was going through right now proved that. She tried her best not to think about the break up, or what she went through leading up to that phone call and how she felt after, but of course the only thing going through her mind was what could have been, and what her and Jason would be doing right now if they were both single. Well, they certainly wouldn’t be single anymore because she knew for a fact they would of reconnected, and they certainly would be doing more then just standing in the dark room developing films. OK, Kate really needed to stop thinking about that, because she was suddenly getting images of her and Jason kissing with their hands all over each other pressed against the counter. Chairs. Yes, chairs was a good thing to think about.

Of course Jason and Kate fought when they were together. All of their memories were not happy ones, but a majority of them were. There always was an occasional fight between the two of them, but it was usually over something stupid that always ended up in make up sex. Really hot make up - CHAIRS. Think about chairs Kate! “Yeah, my mom is pretty awesome,” Kate said with a nod, she really did miss her mom when she was gone to school. Kate too was surprised at how quickly the fifteen minutes went by, but she wasn’t complaining. She watched Jason hop off the counter and take his canister and head to the sink, so Kate grabbed her own and did the same. She went to the same sink that Jason was at, which she immediately regretted because that put the two of them in close proximity together. Kate swallowed hard and did the same thing to her own film, dumping the chemicals, rinsing them up and then hanging them by Jason’s. “It is, I am pretty sure I would have been pretty upset if he killed you and then went to a Mexican jail,” Kate teased, touching his arm without even thinking about what she was doing.

Jason had done a lot of his own thinking about the way things could have been and the ‘what ifs’ that surrounded their situation. What if he had told Kate that he was planning a move to Providence? She probably would have waited for him to get there, and then they would have been happy. Probably still together, a year later. He liked to think they would still be together, anyway. What if Jason got to Providence and found Kate right away? Maybe she would be single, and they could have reconnected and gotten back together. Maybe a lot of things could have happened. There wouldn’t be this awkward tension in the dark room, that was for sure. Jason probably wouldn’t be getting any work done whatsoever, but that didn’t matter. The things they used to do in the dark room were far better and way more fun than getting work done. Shaking those thoughts out of his head, Jason forced himself to think about something else as well. He decided he was going to focus on staplers. Yeah, staplers couldn’t have any kind of sexual innuendo.

Smiling, Jason nodded. “I’m glad that she ended up finding someone for her. Everyone deserves to find that one person that makes them happy,” he said, immediately regretting the words as soon as they were out of his mouth. Clearing his throat, Jason turned to pull himself back on the counter after he finished hanging up his film and watched Kate hang hers, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning back against the cabinets behind him. Raising a brow, Jason scoffed. “Would you have been upset because your dad was in jail, or because he killed me?” he asked, pretending to be hurt, but only able to keep the smile off his face for a few moments. Clearing his throat, he shook his head. “Okay, enough about your terrifying father. I’m starting to get paranoid,” he joked, smiling. “So what other classes are you taking, besides photography ones?” he asked curiously, trying to find some kind of a subject they could talk about that wouldn’t bring up any old memories or make either of them too uncomfortable.

Once Kate was fully done hanging up her films she watched Jason go back to the counter and decided to keep it safe and lean against the counter where she was at. She didn’t want to touch him again, even if it was just a casual pat on the arm because for Kate no physical contact between her and Jason could just be casual. Maybe later, after she got used to the idea of seeing him around more often and them not being together anymore. Kate looked up at Jason when he said that he was glad that her mother had found someone for her. Kate was glad too, she watched how hurt her mother was over her father, and how long it took for her to get over him, so she was very happy that Ian made her mother happy. What Jason said next did put take off guard a bit, but she bit her bottom lip and tried to stay as casual as possible to not make things any more awkward then they already were. “Yeah, I am really happy for her as well,” Kate said, looking down at her feet again and running a hand through her hair. She decided to just ignore that part of Jason’s statement because she was afraid of what she would say if she replied to it.

Kate grinned at Jason when he teased and looked up pretending to think hard about what he asked her. “Well, I guess I would be pretty upset that you died.” she teased, glad that the two of them could still joke around a bit, it certainly was something that she really did miss about spending time with Jason, along with about a million other things. Kate then grinned again, still finding it amusing that Jason was scared of her dad, especially since he was all the way in Colorado and in no way could reach Jason right now. Not like Simon would do anything to Jason if he could. “I am generally sticking with visual arts, but now that I am in my second year I kind of want to get more into some music theory classes as well. Right now I am in a class once a week that talks about music influences throughout the last fifty years. It is really interesting, actually.”

Shaking his head as Kate pretended to think hard about which made her more upset, Jason crossed his arms over his chest. "That hurts. The fact that you even had to think about it," he said, unable to keep a smile off his face. "But at least you made the right decision," he told her, nodding his head. Jason was trying to be casual with her, back to his joking self, and put behind all the strange awkwardness that had seemed to center in the dark room. He didn't like being awkward around Kate, it just felt weird. He had known Kate for a few years, and they had been close for a long period of that time. Being awkward around her just seemed weird to him, so he didn't want any awkward silences or tension in the room. Though, that was hard, since the tension could practically be cut with a knife.

Nodding as Kate talked about her classes, Jason uncrossed his arms and rested his hands on the edge of the countertop on either side of him. "That sounds realy cool," he agreed, nodding his head at her comments about the music class she was taking. He couldn't hide the smile on his face. "I'm sure that's working out really well for you, I'll bet you just love that class," he said, sitting up to scratch behind his neck. Jason remembered how much Kate loved music, it wasn't hard to tell that she'd probably love a class where you could study music.

Reaching out and feeling that the film was pretty dry now, Jason hopped off the counter and grabbed the scissors, cutting the negatives into a few strips and then handing a couple strips to Kate. "Here, we can go ahead and make some proofs," he told her, handing her a thick black bag full of photo paper. "The proofs are really small, just wallet sized photos. So make sure you use this template," he told her, handing her a piece of metal with a white wallet sized photo rectangle on it. "You can focus the image on that, and then turn off the projector, put the photo paper where the white is, and then make your proof," he explained, giving her a smile. He didn't want to go into the legistics of how to work a projector, since he was pretty certain she knew. She was a photography student, after all, and he didn't want to insult her intelligence or anything.

Kate smiled at Jason, he knew best out of everyone how much in love with music Kate was. She didn’t really play anything anymore, and rarely sung in public, but she just loved music and the industry in general. Being able to go to a class and talk about music and how it has been influenced through out the last fifty years was amazing for Kate. She loved the class and was so happy that she could do it for school. “I really do love that class, it is so awesome. My favourite, by far,” Kate said with a grin. Kate liked most of her classes, especially her photography ones that were hands on, but nothing could beat out music.

Once Jason felt the film and saw that it was dry Kate pushed herself away from the counter and got ready to do some more work. Though, developing film with Jason would never seem like work to her because she used to sit and help Jason develop films all of the time on the island just for fun. Well, they would develop films when they were not making out and taking off- ok, chairs. Think of chairs. “Sound’s good,” Kate said, taking the strips from Jason and then the black bag that was full of photo paper. She nodded her head as he explained the size to her and took the template that he passed her. Kate kept all of the things she needed at her station, including the photo paper in the black bag. She got to work pretty quickly, getting everything set up at the projector, making sure the template was in place and her picture was nice and clear.

“So, what is it like being an official professional photographer at a studio?” Kate asked, feeling that she had to keep the conversation going. If she stayed silent for too long then Kate’s mind started to wonder, and that was never a good thing.

Smiling as Kate talked about the class and how much she loved it, Jason nodded. “Well, I can definitely see why that class would be your favorite. It sounds like it’s exactly right up your alley, Kate. That’s great,” he glanced over at her and gave her a smile as he set up his projector. “Everyone needs those classes that they like more than others, because otherwise you’d hate going to school,” he laughed, shaking his head. “When I was in school, I made sure I had a class that I liked every semester, otherwise the math and things like that would just make me angry,” he smirked, shaking his head. “I’m sure that music thing doesn’t even really seem like a class, right?” he smiled.

Once the projectors were set up, Jason turned around and turned off the light again, so that they were surrounded in darkness once more. The red light provided enough for them to see that there was another person in the room with them, but that was about it. Jason took his film and put it in the top portion of the projector, then turned on the light, shooting the image down onto the template. He lowered the projector top so that the image was smaller, and then worked on the focus, nodding when he had the photo right. “Working in a real studio is like a dream come true for me,” he answered Kate’s question while he worked, glancing over at her every so often. “I mean, you know how much I love photography, so being able to do it for a living, for real? It’s amazing,” he told her, nodding. “I get to do really cool photo shoots and stuff. And, of course, every once in awhile I’m stuck doing projects like this one, the senior pictures for some girl whose parents thought a regular photo place wasn’t good enough,” he rolled his eyes, but smiled. “It’s still awesome, though.”

Turning off the projector, Jason reached for the photo paper, before realizing that he had given the bag to Kate. He reached around the black plank of wood between projectors, feeling the thick plastic that the paper was in, as well as something warm. Jason realized immediately that it was Kate’s hand. Turning to look at her, he tried to force himself to pull his hand back, but his body would not listen to him. He licked his lips, moving his hand to completely cover hers.

“Yeah, I generally like all of my classes since most of them are in the Visual Arts department, but considering the work load I get it is nice to have a class where I really enjoy doing my homework, so it gives me a bit of a break,” Kate said. She generally like school because none of her classes were boring. If she had to take a science or social class then she would probably hate it, or at least get very bored of it and not be motivated to do her homework. “Yeah, it doesn’t seem like a class at all. I get to go and talk about music for three hours straight, and then write a few papers on it. The papers are not so fun, but at least I always know that I have something that I want to write about.”

Kate glanced over in Jason’s direction every so often as he spoke, smiling at him but she was sure that he couldn’t see it but that didn’t stop her. She was really happy for him that he had found a job in photography that he loved. Yes, he was an official photographer while working on the island, but back then all he did was take pictures of tourists for the most part, and Kate knew that wasn’t what Jason wanted to do for the rest of his life. “Yeah, it sounds pretty awesome,” Kate said. She then wondered if that was how Jason met Nicole, through a photo shoot. Nicole was a part time model and Jason was a photographer, so it made sense. She was just about to ask him when she stopped herself, suddenly not wanting to talk or bring up Nicole, his girlfriend at the moment, at all.

Kate was reaching into the bag of photo paper that she had placed between her and Jason when she felt his hand reach in there to take some paper himself. She didn’t think anything of it and assumed that they could both just grab the paper at the same time, but she froze when his hand touched hers. His warm hand touched hers and when she thought he would immediately pull away he didn’t. Kate wanted to pull away herself, because the butterflies that suddenly hit her stomach told her that it wasn’t a good idea for their hands to be touching, but she couldn’t bring herself to pull away either. Kate’s heart immediately picked up it’s beat and her breathing increase a bit when she turned to see that Jason was looking at her, and she couldn’t tear her eyes away from his. She felt his hand move to cover hers completely and Kate suddenly found her thumb involuntarily running along the skin of Jason’s hand, whatever it could reach. More involuntary actions continued as Kate found herself stepping closer to Jason.

Jason nodded. “Yeah, liking your classes is definitely important. It keeps things easier for you, and when you want to do your homework … that’s a good thing,” he laughed, smiling over at her. “When you get into that mindframe where you’re all boo on homework, that’s bad. Because homework’s important, even if it’s not part of your grade. Helps you learn,” he nodded. Great. Now he sounded like he was lecturing her. What the hell? Clearing his throat, he went into his shpeal about his job and how much he loved it, Jason smiled as she said that it was pretty awesome. “It really is. I get to do the job that I love, and make pretty okay money. I mean, I’m not making great money, but it’s better than nothing. And I’m able to afford a car payment, and rent on my apartment, so that’s important. I mean, I don’t have a massive amount of spending money after I get my bills paid, but I don’t really do much outside of work,” he confessed, shrugging. “I’ve got a few friends out here, mostly people that I met through work,” he admitted. He purposely left Nic out of the conversation, and that made him feel guilty.

But what made him feel even more guilty was the way he was apparently unable to move away from her after their hands touched. Feeling Kate’s thumb running back and forth over his hand after he covered hers with it was amazing, he didn’t think that he’d ever feel that amazing way his heartbeat would increase just from hands touching again. He didn’t get that with Nicole, and he wished that he did. When it never happened, Jason just told himself that Kate had been special, and he’d lost that. But now, here he was, feeling the electricity that was sparking between their hands, and his heartbeat was getting faster. He turned more towards her in time to see her take a step closer, and Jason swallowed. He took a step closer as well, and against his better judgement, he rose his free hand to her face. He hesitated a moment before he touched her, but then he pressed his hand to her cheek and leaned his head forward, pressing his forehead against hers. He sucked in a breath, closing his eyes as he just rested his forehead there. He needed to take a step back, he needed to put some much needed distance between them. But he knew he couldn’t do it.

Kate couldn’t help but grin when Jason said ‘boo on homework’. It was such an adorable thing for him to say, and something that could instantly put a smile on Kate’s face. She didn’t mind at all that he was going into a big shpeal about school, it didn’t seem like a big lecture to her at all. Jason had been to college before and knew what it was like, so he of course would know what he was talking about. “Well, I would rather make less money doing something that I love then making tons of money with something that I hate,” Kate said with a nod. With Kate’s grades she could of taken anything she wanted at Brown and gotten a job that made tons of money when she graduated, but Kate wasn’t like that. She wasn’t materialistic at all and would rather be happy then loaded with money. That was why Kate took her time thinking about what she wanted to take in school, and picked something that she loved. “That is like me with school. Pretty much everyone I hang out with I met through school, for the most part,” Kate didn’t mention Jamie either on purpose.

Kate too felt guilty for not being able to pull her hand away from Jason’s, and from running her thumb along his skin and even more for stepping closer to him. She knew everything she was doing right now was wrong but there really was nothing that she could do to stop it. She too felt the electricity that generated between them and couldn’t help but admit to herself that Jason was the only one who was able to affect Kate like this just by touching her hand. Her heat beat was increasing and her breathing was getting stronger and she couldn’t believe this was happening just by a touch of the hand. Yes, Jamie was known to make Kate feel this way, but it took a lot more then just a simple touch to do it. Kate saw Jason turn towards her and lift his hand to her face. Her head automatically tilted a bit towards his touch and leaned her head forward up to his and closed her eyes for a moment when their foreheads first met. Kate took a deep breath in and didn’t let her hand leave Jason’s. She too needed to take a step back, but her body wasn’t listening to her and before she knew it her face was tilting up towards his and her body was stepping even closer to him.

Jason nodded. “Exactly. That’s the exact way that I’m looking at it. I’d rather be doing this and making enough money to live on, than be doing something in a corporate stuffy office, sitting on my ass all the time, and hating it,” he said, shaking his head. “That’s just … it’s not me,” he shrugged.

Before Jason knew what was going on, his brain seemed to be catching up to what his body was doing, and every coherent thought he could form was telling him to back up, get the fuck out of there. This was wrong. He had Nicole, Kate had Jamie. Standing here in a dark room, holding Kate’s hand and letting his other hand caress Kate’s cheek … this was just bad. Bad bad bad. Back the fuck up. But no matter what his head was telling him to do, his heart and his body just would not listen. Kate took another step closer to him, and she was leaning her head up like she was going to kiss him, and Jason’s brain screamed at him to get out of there. But Jason couldn’t force himself to move at all. All he could focus on was the anticipation of his lips against Kate’s again, and how much he wanted to kiss her and hold her close again. The more Jason thought about it, the more he realized that Kate still meant the world to him, and he couldn’t shake that. Moving his head down more so he could kiss her, their lips were only about an inch or so apart from one another before a door slammed, startling him. Jason jumped and instinctively moved away from Kate, just in time for one of his co-workers to come into the dark room. Jason’s heart was still beating incredibly fast, and he ran a hand through his hair, and then down his face, resting over his mouth. “Hey, what’s up?” he tried to sound casual, but he sounded breathless.

The closer Kate stepped toward’s Jason the more she could smell him and the combination of that and hearing his breathing in the now silent dark room caused Kate to feel a bit dizzy. He heart was now hammering in her chest and her mind was yelling at her to slow down, back up and get the hell out of the dark room and away from Jason. Though, as soon as their foreheads touching and her mouth was so close to his her body stopped listening to any sense that she tried to talk herself into and all she wanted to do was press her lips against Jason’s. It was wrong and Kate knew that, but right now with him so close to her and not being able to kiss him after so long she just couldn’t help herself. As much as Kate tried to talk herself out of it, she still had feelings for Jason and she was certain that they wouldn’t go away now that he was back in her life. She shouldn’t of asked him to let her shadow him because it was apparent to her now that she just couldn’t handle being alone with him.

Kate sucked in a breath of air as Jason moved his head down to kiss her, and she tilted her head up a bit to press her lips to his, but then suddenly a door slammed and Kate jumped as well. Jason stepped away from her, and she glanced a him not being able to move from the shock of what just about happened. When one of Jason’s co workers came into the dark room Kate glanced over at them, not being able to stop the slightly dirty look that was on her face. Kate then folded her arms across her chest and took a step back trying to stop her heart from pounding so hard. Kate had to get out of there, now. She then looked at her wrist where a watch would have been and then back at Jason. “I really should get going, I forgot that I needed to pick up a few things and finish a project for school,” Kate said, a bit breathless herself. She didn’t care that she had photos that still needed to be developed, she just needed to get out of there right away. “Um, thanks for everything, I will have to stop by another time.”
