Recuperatio [13 Mar 2009|07:41am]

Currently Casting | Casting Studio | Application | Rules | Recuperatio RPG

“Tragedy blows through your life like a tornado, uprooting everything, creating chaos. You wait for the dust to settle, and then you choose. You can live in the wreckage and pretend it's still the mansion you remember. Or you can crawl from the rubble and slowly rebuild. Because after disaster strikes, the important thing is that you move on. But if you're like me, you just keep chasing the storm. The problem with chasing the storm is that it wears you down, breaks your spirit. Even the experts agree. A girl needs closure.”-Veronica Mars

“How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on... when in your heart you begin to understand... there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend... some hurts that go too deep... that have taken hold. Bilbo once told me his part in this tale would end... that each of us must come and go in the telling.” –J.R.R. Tolkien

Seven years ago, the Dark Lord Voldemort fell, finally bringing an end to his vicious reign of power and terror. Yet, the war did not end with his death. For years, the Wizarding World has worked to repair the damages left during the aftermath of war. Emotional burdens have yet to fully heal, too many lives destroyed, families torn apart, and friends lost. Hogwarts was left in rubble, unable to reopen for years, the damage too great, endless sweat and tears shed as people worked to rebuild the foundations to give their children a future. Death Eaters still roam free, cunningly avoiding even the best Aurors, leaving many in fear that another war will be on the horizon.

As things begin to resemble some semblance of normalcy, an old follower of Voldemort is in the wings, plotting his revenge, gathering the remaining Death Eaters and new followers, planning to unleash a new war, wanting to finish his master’s vision. In the Ministry, a serial killer is murdering powerful political figures, leaving everyone pointing fingers and letting things slip through the cracks. Fenrir Greyback has escaped from Azkaban, butchering countless individuals as he runs from Aurors, gathering and making new werewolves in his travels, gathering an army to strike against the Ministry. All the while, the Muggle World is at war, affecting the Wizarding World as it heightens. The world is in complete chaos.

Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt is determined to rebuild the Wizarding Community into a vision of peace and has called forth some of the best Aurors from around the world in an effort to clean up the United Kingdom, determined to capture and imprison the remaining Death Eaters and send a clear message of constant vigilance to those seeking to do more harm. Many are unhappy with the Minister’s plans, many seeking to replace him and other important individuals, some willing to go to great lengths to achieve their goals.

The Wizarding World is torn between fully recovering and moving forward and taking two steps back, arriving right back where they left off seven years ago. A new war is on the brink, which side will you choose?

They never meant for it to happen as they sat around the book of tales. All they wanted was for the stories to tell themselves. Four young students sat around the book experimenting with spells and taking notes. After trying for what seems like hours one of the four gave her final attempt.

And that is when it happened. There was a resounding boom throughout the castle. There was an explosion of light and the pages flew through the room. Once the shaking stopped the girls gathered their things and made it back to their rooms before anyone noticed. After continuing the next few days as normal they decided the spell had backfired.

But they couldn't be more wrong.

The spirits of tales have taken over the students at Hogwarts. Strange things are happening and no one knows why. Some tales have managed to find students with a likeness to their characters; others weren't so fortunate

PROLOGUE

There's an elite boarding school an hour away from San Francisco that's dedicated to the education of children with superpowers: Veritas Academy. Veritas takes these children in and helps them control their gifts - trying to turn them into productive members of society. The lucky few become heroes and villains that are respected and feared the world over, but the rest also have real stories to tell. They are known as businesspeople, lawyers, doctors, academics, nurses, and teachers. They are the people you know, but never stop to truly wonder about.

There are success stories and failures that are known everywhere, but not everyone can be Superman. The majority of the students remain virtually unknown to the majority of the public as they go about their everyday jobs and lead their everyday lives.

The Veritas Alumni Association decided to follow the trend that had been set by Livejournal, Facebook and MySpace, and set up their own social networking site. It became known as something that old students use to keep in touch with friends, watch their enemies and complain about their everyday lives. Yet in between the complaints, arguments and laughs that the students are having, something is beginning to interrupt their lives:

Someone is killing alumni, and no one knows who's going to be next.

Imagine a place where Blackbeard the Pirate and King Henry the VIII have weekly games of poker, where the fates and furies walk among the everyday citizen, where wizards are gods and no one is what they seem, even your best friend.

Welcome to the Fortunate Isles. Long before wizards, emperors, kings, and warriors walked the earth the gods and the fates did. But like all species the gods died out and were replaced or forgotten in favour of new trends and ideals, but the fates are forever. The fates have stood by patiently and watched humans evolve through the centuries, looking for the perfect species for their experiment and in their search they came across wizards. Human but not quite human at the same time; with the abilities to do pretty much anything with their minds the Fates have decided that they will be perfect for the Fortunate Isles, their private get away where gods, and furies, Valkyries and pirates, kings and emperors alike walk once more, their personalities transplanted into the bodies of wizards. Upon death witches and wizards will enter the Fortunate Isles where nothing will ever be the same for them again.

With all of their memories from life still in tact the witches and wizards of past must now figure out how to live with new personalities and accept the fact that not everyone can be a god and everything you once knew, is no longer the same.

We'd like to see Clark Kent try and file Shacklebolt's paperwork and still have time to woo Lois Lane.

Voldemort's gone, Harry is too. Hogwarts is replaced by the Sangster Institution because of damage from the battle. Besides that, it's business as usual at the school, but what about back home? Minister Shacklebolt is in charge along with appointed staff that were well known affiliates with the Order of the Phoenix. Something strange is going on though. All of the in-training, interns, apprentices, and other low level positions are only working Tuesday through Friday while the rest of the office works all seven days of the week. More doors are closed, more higher ups are going between offices themselves and messages are hexed strongly against prying eyes. The only known fact is a whisper going around about a wizard performing magic being caught on a Muggle video camera doing magic in Coldstream, Scotland. Only the Ministry workers are aware of this and it's being kept quiet as much as possible. You can't keep everyone quiet though, can you?

We are a DH compliant game with added canon. We will be jumping ahead three years in game time by the fall.

WANTED: Ministry workers, Quidditch players, St. Mungo's workers, and Prefects
