all day || outside sunset village
[If you happen to be travelling outside Sunset Village, you might've noticed this little group of a white-haired dude and his nearly equally as white-haired daughter, going back and forth from the town, carrying things over to a wooden house a little further past the train station, along the mostly empty greener areas past the Village itself.

Nothing too extraordinary, but someone clearly settling in might feel a little unusual given most people were initially told there were no permanent residents yet, and told of the fleeting nature of this world. Maybe you wonder how are they managing to purchase multiple items already. Perhaps you received your own charm, or requested to stay longer, and would like to chat to people in the same situation.

Or maybe you're just stopping by to listen to the third person involved - the bard, who doesn't seem to be helping much at all, unless you count his music lifting everyone's spirits... supposedly.]

[[Little log for the family! Feel free to poke any of them, or mingle among yourselves if you'd like. || Vers. en español. ¡Postcito para la familia! Pokeen a cualquiera de ellos, o mézclense entre ustedes si quieren.]]

[It very much piques her interest first off, head tilting when she notices and watching the reaction curiously.]

An artifact of some kind? [... More importantly, it doesn't escape her notice what it might be for, if it's like this near her. Huh.] Rather sensitive, isn't it.

[It does stop, otherwise he'd just be annoyingly buzzing all day any time he's around Ciri o Yen. He almost remarks it's not, actually, but it feels like it'd be giving too much away too soon.]

Hm. [In a tone like "yes". Vague enough, that works.] Do you need to take a break? We have a house nearby. [One of those still-rare "Resident" locations.]

[A traveler in every sense of the word can't well say no when offered a rest-stop, so her answer is to nod, accepting, leaving any magical item curiosities aside for now.]

If I could. [Yes pls.] Have you been living here long?

[Not that she's overly concerned about time frame, but more gauging the experiences of others as best possible.]

[Figures she's either too naive, or too powerful to have to worry much about dangerous strangers - maybe a little bit of both. But luckily he's indeed trustworthy, and surely meeting Ciri will make it clear it's a safe space.

He can't answer much for Jaskier and his relentless music and/or flirting, though.]

We've only been here a couple of weeks. Looks like we're the first to stay like this [long-term, that is] in a long while.

[Little of bucket A and bucket B indeed. The answer doesn't seem to shock her, but she does appear curious, chewing over that thought.]

While others are here in passing... I've traveled a lot but never quite this way.

[Experience the miracle of getting full sentences out of him, but in this case it's necesssary for sure.]

It was the same for me. I didn't use to stay anywhere for long. Then I got stuck into one world, and from there we've crossed into this one.

[She knows not the amazing moment she has witnessed. But his words are certainly interesting ones.]

One world from another...

Something hardly thought possible is taking place rather casually here. [Sus.]

[Fun fact: his own home world is the result of a collission between different worlds. The "Conjunction of Spheres" and all that, which brought humans into their world of elves and dwarves and such.]

[But that was like, a bajillion years ago. And he disapproves one way or another, as both were a magical disaster anyway.]

You get used to it. But there's nothing casual about making magic portals that powerful.

[Her agreeing hum is thoughtful, a touch more serious just in considering the implications which she's been turning over her mind since the moment she stepped off the bridge.]

Not at all. Still, no matter how much I examined the area... It doesn't give anything away about itself.

[Strong magic indeed.]

[He figured as much, even if his own magic knowledge is limited. He wonders what Yennefer would think of all of this... Probably the same exasperation and confusion.]

The last place I was in was something like that. There were supposedly some sort of beings in charge, but they never showed themselves or made themselves known through anything other than magic that'd mess with us.

Beings... [The term is broad enough it could mean all sort of things (demons, goddesses, even elves like Frieren herself) regardless of the place, but for something to this scale and so mystifying even to her, the closest guess would be-]

Something such as "gods," maybe. Perhaps a similar force at hand here, too, though I can't say I'm well-versed enough with that.

It's a pain. [Bah.]

[He does say the 'bah' she doesn't.]

Most of anything like a God I've met is too busy being overly powerful and obsessed either with that or a legacy, to bother playing around with a bunch of people.

["Met" is an interesting choice of words that she absently considers, but in the end, the sentiment makes sense to her in a way, even as someone with little belief in gods.]

And yet if it weren't for the same such people... [What other way to make their own existence legitimate do gods that want for worship have? She shrugs though, thinking he's not wrong either way.]

Well. No goddess ever did bother to appear in all the time I've known either.

[That brings up the question, inevitably...]

How old are you? [He's expecting somewhere around Yen's age, which is slightly less than his own. Poor bastard.]

[She doesn't look bothered by the question or anything but does wave a hand a little, dw much about it.]

Several centuries by now. [Blah blah blah over a thousand years ok maybe she should explain.]

Elves where I come from often live about as long, or longer. If others saw something, they didn't share it.

[Does seem surprised, but perhaps not as much as expected. Still, it's pretty rare for him to feel like he's the youngster of the equation.]

Where I come from, if an elf doesn't live long, it's because of outside forces. [Which happens plenty, as they're persecuted and abused nearly everywhere.]

[Whatever the individual circumstances, she can't say it's surprising either to hear it said in those words. It really is true anywhere, huh, no matter how different, huh.]

Yes. That can be the case. [She seems stuck somewhere between being matter of fact about that notion while also seeming a little sad even if she herself doesn't exactly notice that tinge of it in her own face.]

[He does feel a little bad, and can see how this isn't the happiest of topics.]

I've met several myself. [They don't all get killed. The main one he knows rn will die a couple of episodes later tho, but shhh.] Still, it's rare to find someone older than me.

[At the very least, she doesn't seem caught up in any gloom over the topic, even if it's not spoken of lightly either. A reality, in the end.]

Several seems like quite the feat. I've not seen another like me in easily 400 years. We aren't very social even without outside factors.

How old would that be?

[Ohh. Careful or grandma here's going to end up patting your head.]

Still young. [... Although these days she's much more acutely aware of what that number can reflect as, but she's not ready to contend with that thought just yet.]

Then I suppose however many years pass, they don't show the same for you, either.

[Not a similarity she often expects when meeting new faces.]

[His head is well out of reach of grandma, unless she's floating.]

Hmm. [He says, as a way to mean "yes, I've looked this way for a good while". Like with you, the pale hair has nothing to do with matters of age.] [By now they've reached the house, and there's a little table outside with some fruits on it.]

Mm. Jaskier, [he gestures some distance away to where Jaskier's sitting on some log and singing to himself while composing songs.] and Ciri, my... [Child of Surprise, but that probably means nothing to people here.] [...]

[...] I take care of her. [He's her dad, and he's also dumb about these things. Or partially doesn't want to use certain terms when Ciri's bond to her bio parents is complicated.]

There should be someone else, but she hasn't arrived yet. [Yet.]

How likely is that? For someone not yet with you to come here, too.
