all day || outside sunset village
[If you happen to be travelling outside Sunset Village, you might've noticed this little group of a white-haired dude and his nearly equally as white-haired daughter, going back and forth from the town, carrying things over to a wooden house a little further past the train station, along the mostly empty greener areas past the Village itself.

Nothing too extraordinary, but someone clearly settling in might feel a little unusual given most people were initially told there were no permanent residents yet, and told of the fleeting nature of this world. Maybe you wonder how are they managing to purchase multiple items already. Perhaps you received your own charm, or requested to stay longer, and would like to chat to people in the same situation.

Or maybe you're just stopping by to listen to the third person involved - the bard, who doesn't seem to be helping much at all, unless you count his music lifting everyone's spirits... supposedly.]

[[Little log for the family! Feel free to poke any of them, or mingle among yourselves if you'd like. || Vers. en español. ¡Postcito para la familia! Pokeen a cualquiera de ellos, o mézclense entre ustedes si quieren.]]

["Let's go" she'd told Fern oh so confidently... So how did it turn out this way? Phantoms vanquished and a clear path ahead to the Riegel Canyon seemed like a direct enough plan forward, or so she thought. Frieren can truly say this is a wrong turn that she cannot explain even with her own tendencies to get lost. Sure, she accepts all the basic greetings and explanations without much of a reaction, stewing on it in her thoughts alone but eventually - she sets off with a sigh when it appears her apprentice isn't following behind her off the bridge.]

That girl's going to be upset with me again...

[Scary. On a deeper note, yes, there's a million more things she could say or think about the seeming impossibility of this whole situation, but when it seems like she can't brute force her way back, the most natural next best thing is to get a lay of the land. Easy enough, she's done that plenty alone, right?

.... Don't mind the rustling muffled noises from some bushes across somewhere off the path. This is Fine.]

[Even if he hadn't already been particularly alert to any sounds or signs of his Party nearby, he still would've recognized those noises instantly. He figures it's even worse of a situation if the source of them happens to be separated from the others, like he is, and has less of a chance of a quick rescue.]

[So don't mind him as he quickly gets up and trots to those bushes from where he can hear them. This is just a usual scenario for him, and he has no idea you haven't heard this voice in a good while now.]

Is it a mimic, again?

[There's something to be said about the difference in hearing a demon's imitation of her feelings and memories, versus what she immediately recognizes as the illogical impossibility of - the real thing? Hearing without seeing perhaps makes it all the more confusing, enough for her to fully stop struggling with the jumble of leaves and branches she got herself tangled up in, silent for a few awkward beats too long.]

... Nothing like that. [Sorry uhhhh?]

[Atta girl, you dealt with it well. Not that he really knows the extent of what you're dealing with. He refrains from fussing over her possible state at dealing with these bushes, greetings come first.]

There you are. I was looking... [Shakes his head slightly before a more confident smile.] I was waiting for you. I was sure you'd find me soon.

[Once she's out enough to look towards him and really see him, she's not sure what she even expected to find after hearing his voice in the first place. She can discern without having to think twice that it isn't some trick or a lingering Einsam following her along. But then...]

Himmel.

[I wasn't looking for you, she nearly blurts out first, but that isn't even true either, is it? Just that finding him, if she found him or anything at all, isn't supposed to be for a long, long distance and years yet. Right?]

For how long?

[Waiting, he says. He would, wouldn't he.]

[Thinks there's something odd about her expression, but doesn't dwell on it for now.]

Oh, not too long. I walked past a rainbow bridge into a reception area... [Blahblah, got told information about the world, decided to set out on his own after waiting for a while got him nothing, especially since he wasn't sure if the rest of them hadn't arrived earlier and were waiting for him instead.]

[Which all matches up well and good with her own experience so far, except it's not what she wanted to or meant to ask. Yet it's so very normal every day Himmel talk that she hasn't heard in so long, and perhaps that in itself is just the answer. Especially when he speaks of the others, too.]

I see. [There's no way. She considers the possibilities, weighs her words, and still somewhere deep down feels nothing will quite feel right to say, as she turns to fully face him and look at him. Looking at him like she can't quite look away.]

Then, before the bridge. [...] Was there anything strange around?

[Don't mind his dumb little heart skipping a dumb little beat, then. Something's definitely going on, huh.]

Strange? Stranger than usual, you mean? [They do get involved in plenty of shenanigans. No, but in this scenario it's probably a specific type of weird.]

Like a portal of some kind? There wasn't anything like that.

[She sighs, accepting the answer though it's far from ideal - she already had a feeling that would be the case, after all.]

I didn't see anything either.

[Her body seems to move without her deciding so after that. A step, two, and she's soon all that much closer, reaching up and putting both her palms at either side of his face without even so much as asking to. Just putting enough pressure - enough direct touch to feel that he is real. That it's really him without a shadow of a doubt. As if there was one. Sorry to his dumb little heart if her stare alone was already a lot.]

Himmel, how old are you right now?

[Going back and forth to the Village, he's been spotting plenty of things - small wild animals here and there, birds perching on tree branches or picking on berries on some bush along the road, and so on.

What he didn't expect to see is. someone's butt, wiggling around between the branches and leaves. We could say at this point Himmel's taken care of this, but lbr it's likely to happen more than once. And just like Himmel, he can't simply walk away, although he's a lot more gruff and dismissive about those impulses.]

Sounds like trouble. [His tone is lighthearted enough, and now he's getting close to push aside the branches trapping her. It's easy to note despite being large and strong enough to shove them aside easily with one arm, he's being gentle enough not to wreck them entirely.]

[That sense of casual restrain on his part doesn't go missed by her, a short observatory pause that she can't help before Frieren gladly takes the opportunity he offers. Fixes her grip on the handle of her suitcase and carefully moves herself back out of the greenery with the space given.]

That did it. Thanks. [Whew. Nvm how there's still a good deal of leaves and branches stuck on her that sort of go scattered about once she straightens.] Oh.

... Sorry for the mess.

We have a very different idea of what a "mess" is. [Leaves the bushes now she's safely out, and instead covers his medallion with one hand because it's vibrating at an obnoxious rate being near you.]

An artifact of some kind? [... More importantly, it doesn't escape her notice what it might be for, if it's like this near her. Huh.] Rather sensitive, isn't it.

[It does stop, otherwise he'd just be annoyingly buzzing all day any time he's around Ciri o Yen. He almost remarks it's not, actually, but it feels like it'd be giving too much away too soon.]

Hm. [In a tone like "yes". Vague enough, that works.] Do you need to take a break? We have a house nearby. [One of those still-rare "Resident" locations.]

[A traveler in every sense of the word can't well say no when offered a rest-stop, so her answer is to nod, accepting, leaving any magical item curiosities aside for now.]

If I could. [Yes pls.] Have you been living here long?

[Not that she's overly concerned about time frame, but more gauging the experiences of others as best possible.]

[Ciri was just starting yet another trip to buy a few more things for the house when she hears the rustling. Her instinct is to get her hand closer to her sword and feel a little dumb for having relaxed here so much. Nothing had happened so far, but that didn't mean it couldn't change, right?

Thank you. [Her suitcase now back safe in her hands too, she holds it up a little your way as if in offer.] I can't give much for the help, but if you'd like to choose an item from my travels, there are some useful things here.

[Okay most of her stuff is silly and/or useless but look she doesn't consider it that.]
