[With Halloween gone, you might be pulled into an illusion of safety. Afterall, there's no reason to be pestered now, no new costumes to be added, no creepy monsters to follow you.

Ah, but one can always be an inconvenience to those in this land. Nothing so terrible this time, depending on your views and past experiences... You're likely to wake up with a set of wings today.

No arm replacement, just a pair of large wings like typical imagery of angels, in a variety of colors and textures fitting the owners. You could freak out, wonder at the fluff of down, or even attempt to fly - and yes, it is possible, although watch out you're not in mid-air by the time this addition ends.]

[[Good ol' fashioned Wings Event! Exactly what it sounds. & don't worry, charas are unlikely to end up splattered in the ground because of this.

EN ESPAÑOL. El clásico post de Alas! Exacto lo que suena. & no se preocupen, los personajes tienen poca chance de terminar aplastados en el suelo por esto.]]

[Great (?) minds accidentally think alike or something, in that although Akechi hasn't taken to the air necessarily, he made the trip in this general direction to keep himself somewhat out of sight of others until this was all over... Or so was the plan.

Unfortunately, even he isn't entirely immune to being caught off guard from looking up and seeing such pure white wings spread out above, should he happen to see you mid-flight practice.

Whether he witnesses a fumble or not is up to timing, but still-] ... Quite the sight.

[Attractive boys with messy hair, out there to get you no matter the world (?)] [He was doing pretty well, but the presence of an audience distracts him enough to fumble the oh-so-perfect flight a little, ah.]

Good morning?

[Truly it's his sickness. He gives a little wave, resigned in mind to stepping out into the open more, and admittedly somewhat curious too now for good measure.]

Hey. Having fun?

[He even used to wear glasses as part of his disguise, if that helps.]

Hard not to when you can fly, right? [Sparkle sparkle, and all that. But he does really enjoy it, and now that Victor's around his good mood is usually a significant amount less fake.]

[Ruin his life why don't you. Gives a small chuckle on his part, welp you got him there.]

That does appear to be the general consensus so far. Not exactly what I imagined us all waking up to. [Never a dull moment, man.]

[Right, you're more of a newb to this sort of thing.]

In the world I was in before, things like these happened often. You'd wake up dressed funny, or with wings like these, or cat ears. [Or turned into a vampire, one of his personal favorites up until Lestat kinda ruined the whole thing.]

[Struggles so much not to make the most disgruntled face ever at such a thought. Great. Awesome.]

... I see. Then I guess we'll have more of where this came from to keep looking forward to.

Surprising, how similar two worlds can end up, differences aside.

This one's larger. You could at least hide if you ended up with something too ridiculous. [The other one was fond of shoving them all together in a single space and force them to deal with it.]

Is that what you were hoping out here? [To hide? Of course, it isn't as though he doesn't know the sentiment from his own reasons, but that part he doesn't say aloud.]

I suppose if it comes down to what's ridiculous, better something like this than other alternatives.

[In a way... yes, he was. But he's not going to admit to that.]

I was hoping to test if I could fly, in some place with more room to spare. [To avoid crashing into someone, or to fall more cleanly, maybe. Not because he'd care so much, but because harming himself would reveal his skills.]

[He makes a light show of looking around as though taking another gander of the surroundings, like he's appraising on your behalf. Ooh ahh.]

Seems fitting enough... Well? What did you make of it now that you've had the time to test? [All the nice good fun aside, of course.]

I think there's a good reason why we're not made to fly. [He laughs a little, like he's self-conscious to be stating the obvious. It might be fun, but it's too much to be experiencing it for long... If he sounds less daring than he really is, it works for him.]

Ha ha...

[His own laugh matches back in tone, somewhat along the same lines and agreeing -- and perhaps the slight tension in the way he's kept his own wings until now looks more fitting this way too. There's crumbs of truth at play as always, of course- given how he's guy who only knows how to live wound up by default.]

One could say there's Icarus to prove the point, right? The sun isn't so far away as people might like to think it could be.

[In contrast to Eli's bright white wings, his are black as night. And, in contrast with him too, his feet are firmly planted on the ground, sitting over a fallen tree log, his dark wings tucked behind him.

He's simply watching Eli and his attempts at flying, with a mixture of amusement, exasperation and fascination, as is the rule between them. But he's also observing carefully, taking mental notes of his technique-- maybe once he feels more confident with his ability to replicate it, he will make his own attempt. For now, he can leave to Eli the plummeting to the ground. If he breaks a couple of bones here and there he'll be more than fine, and Victor can take the pain from him if needed.]

[But he must have gotten more distracted watching Eli than he thought, as it surprises him when you appear near them. Considering he was using his powers to keep people away, with a projection of pain so faint that to people it barely registers as discomfort if they approach, you shouldn't have. He chides himself silently, not happy with having audience.]

... Don't say it too loud, or he'll hear you.

[It could be a lot of factors at play - if not the brief slip from Victor's part, then perhaps Akechi's meticulously compartmentalized disregard toward his own pain and discomfort, or his ability to cross through the wavering lines of reality. Either way, yep here he is- looking just a bit high-strung with his symbolic pair of mismatched wings pressed down firmly against his back as if to keep them out of attention by not opening them up too much. The right wing a heroic almost metallic gold, while the left is a deep dark black like a crow's and maybe not unlike Victor's own.

He does first startle briefly at the words, but then he looks at you and soon seems strangely recognizing instead. Blond hair, all black, seems to need a long nap? Ah.]

My apologies. I hadn't expected to run into others out here, truth be told. Watching over him? [How nice.]

[Ah, yes, that would do the trick. It will be interesting to Victor, if he ever gets to know about that disregard for pain and discomfort-- but for now what's captured his attention are the asimmetrical wings, of course. He doesn't miss it, and wonders if it could mean anything, since Eli's wings and his own seem to match them each so well. Almost symbolically, indeed.

But his vague musings are interrupted by your words. He raises his eyebrows at them.]

He can watch over himself, as you can probably see. [Your insinuation that he would care enough about someone to guard over them inults him. Even if that's... exactly what's happening here. Whatever, it's a matter of principles.]

[Very much notices that observant look, although Akechi feigns at being unaware of the reason why for now. Rather, his gaze looks to the sky again briefly, before he shrugs and instead chooses to saunter over closer your way. You know, for the casual conversation.]

True enough. He certainly looks to have the hang of it rather comfortably. [Motions a hand to the fallen log, at the other end, the question of sitting there beside him implied in the gesture.]

May I?

[No, he thinks, immediately. But then... he supposes he should at least try and see what kind of people there are in this world. You never know when knowing someone can be useful.]

[He shrugs for an answeer too, now frankly curious that you can get this close, with his powers still activated to cause discomfort inside a certain radius around him. But he can feel your nerves-- perhaps you have some sort of ability to protect yourself?]

Not interested in puting your wings to test?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[It's a funny thing - of all the squarely paranormal things in Akechi's life (up to and including the two unseen entities that swim around in his soul), he doesn't actually have any sort of mystical protections in place for this. He takes his seat when permitted with more than enough polite distance left from Victor, crosses one leg over the other and rests his leather-gloved hands on his knees in all but normal motions.

Under the surface though, the situation is a different beast. Your effect doesn't register to him directly yet not because he doesn't feel or he's immune - but by the sheer stubborn nature of his disregard. Not quite recklessness, a more calculated and ingrained thing, the dull uncomfortable roar an inconvenience he can bear through just like everything else has always been in his life. It probably says way too much about Akechi himself, more than he'd want to share, that the way he's subconsciously brute forcing it is his default, a feature not a bug.

So your question just leads him to a brief pause, a glance back your way, then a placid smile in answer:]

I'm afraid of heights. [Joke or not? He's just a baby surely. (It's just a straight up lie.)]

Luckily, as we're seeing... There's already plenty others to spectate in their efforts.

[That polite distance is appreciated, at least. And it's also good for, say, a little experimentation with a closer look.

He remains in his seat and his position, glancing barely in your direction in a polite attempt at engaging in conversation as people are expected to. But, at the same time, he starts to sense your nerves. No more than extending his power to you, and through your nervous system, carefully feeling the electric current without interfering with it, the same way that you would barely touch something just to make the shape of it. And, as he already thought, it seems... pretty normal. Nothing of note, no strange bump or invisible wall to stop his influence. By all means, you should be feeling the discomfort... so, why aren't you reacting to it? It's quite interesting.]

My condolences. [He says, dryily. Poor you.] So, you came for the show?

[Even the little signs that progressively get more telling are still rather subtle the more you probe at him. Like the ways Akechi shifts slightly in his seat or rocks his leg, how his jaw seems like it might clench then doesn't quite. And probably the most visible, the habit he has of tugging at the edge of his gloves to readjust them. (Who wears leather gloves and a sweater-vest during hot weather? This guy does.)

He shrugs, a non-committal hum of an answer.]

No, the show was unexpected. Perhaps a happy coincidence? [Haa. He can feel sweat start to gather at the back of his neck, thankfully hidden by his long hair, but uncomfortable regardless. Fuck, honestly, what is this.] If you'd both forgive the intrusion, that is.

[He wears long black coats in summer, so pot to kettle anyway.][Oh, he can tell-- he's very observant. He wonders if it's just anxiety of some sort, or if his power is actually having some effect over you. And since he doesn't find any anomaly to infere it couldn't, well... he starts to realize you might be a very stubborn young man indeed. Almost inhumanely so.]

Oh, I'm very forgiving. [And a fucking liar. He gestures towards the sky, to Eli flying above.] He's the one you'd have to ask for forgiveness, really.

[And Eli's forgiveness is its own special kind of fun. Usually involving guns and murder and holy crusades, though much less these days, to be fair.]

Really.

[Akechi's gaze follows your gesture, catching sight of him again up in the sky with observant eyes that are sharp as knives despite any pressure exerted on him. And even despite Akechi's own efforts to keep a softer outer demeanor in the present situation here... well, stubborn is entirely correct as far as descriptions of him go. He would sooner blame the hot weather, the wings, anything else, before admitting or giving into his own physical limitations. Aware of it or not, fuck this, he hasn't lost yet.]

In my experience, frankly, forgiveness is something of a concept that's far too vague to be very practical. Isn't it? An idea that will always have a different meaning for every individual that conceives of it...

[A garbage, useless thing.] Well. Even so, I'll be sure to ask him for his next time.

[... Oh. Alright, that little speech definitely increases his interest. Because he agrees on it-- forgiveness is too complex a subject, for the levity with which people usually handle it. Because is the kind of philosophical conversation he enjoys, and because you seem young enough that he wouldn't expect that kind of musings from your part. But mostly, because he is very good at reading people, and he can already tell you are probably more than you appear... or than you want to appear.]

Even so, yes. [His tone is thoughtful, looking directly at you now. Intently.] I don't think I heard your name.

[Philosophy is a funny thing. He "uses" his knowledge of it like so many other mature things to make himself seem older in the adult world - reading and memorizing the words of dead thinkers as a tool to be used for his purposes ever since he was even younger, living through a bastard's childhood. Somewhere along the way though, it turns out he unironically really does enjoy going down the rabbit hole of turning over concepts and thoughts and ideas more than as just an act.]

Goro Akechi. Just Akechi is fine.

[He wasn't quite avoiding direct eye-contact until now, but perhaps feeling your stare, he looks sidelong back directly too, watchful even at the disadvantage he doesn't yet know he's under.] I should have said sooner. And yours?
