I do not understand the customs here. Why do you celebrate the beginning of a year by imbibing drinks until you fall over?

	It was impossible to avoid the lady in question due to the hordes of people walking (I use the term loosely) the streets. At midnight they all stopped and looked at their phones or the nearest television and curious to see what the fuss was about, I joined them. It's all a part of relative time, isn't it. And while calendars and dates are arbitrary, the fact is that time is a vast dimension and defining it in small increments gives one perspective on the whole. And humans only live a century or so, excepting extraordinary circumstances, so it being very important to them makes a lot of sense. To me, at any rate.

As for why ten, that is how their numerical system is based on.
