I do not understand the customs here. Why do you celebrate the beginning of a year by imbibing drinks until you fall over?

It's pretty stupid. I mean, technically alcohol's a poison, it can kill you if you drink too much, it messes with your brain chemistry. Most people enjoy the effects but not everyone and being sober around drinkers is usually pretty tedious. I think if they invented it now it would probably be illegal but it's got several thousand years of history now.

I'm not sure I will ever understand humans. I was walking home, minding my own business and a woman kissed me. When I asked her why, she told me 'because it was midnight'. Do people always kiss at midnight, or is it particular to the holiday?
