Portland. Wow. That's... random. Sort of disappointing too. After all that talk about wormholes and crap, I was sort of expecting to end up on the Millennium Falcon or something.

Anyway, hi. David Lassiter. Where is the nearest Starbucks?

You have a very good point. And I grew up in the age of technology. It's pretty much ingrained in my programming.

Those people are jerks.

I don't actually get why anyone drinks Starbucks at all, but then I'm picky about what I drink, in general. I can type now without even looking, which has gotten me out of some tight spots in the past.

They are, but some argue the same thing about me.

Masochism? I dunno. I can type without looking sometimes, but I always have to check to make sure autocorrect doesn't screw me over.

Jerks and liars.

Convenience, I suppose. With a touch of masochism involved, I assume, because I can't really see any other reason. I figure if autocorrect changes something I said, I deserve it. At least my intentions usually come through, even if things are strange.

Indeed.

I've been guilty of the convenience with a shot of masochism plenty of times, but I can be reformed. Autocorrect is both a blessing and a curse.

I lean more toward sadism than masochism any day. ;)

You should work at Starbucks. :)

You work at the University? I'm enrolled there apparently. I guess I should pick some classes. Any suggestions?

Well, if you want to watch me make grand sweeping statements at the front of a classroom for a semester or two, Archaeology. Always.

Beyond that, what do you like to study?

I like to study girls. Archaeology it is!

But when I'm not studying girls, I do dabble in some philosophy.

Well, I started learning archaeology to find a good man, so you using it to study girls is acceptable. ;)

Philosophy? Well, there's a whole department for that, darling.

So glad you see things my way.

I know. I did a couple of classes back in Chicago. I like to think I was pretty good at it.

Of course! I understand completely.

Well then, do that. That and Archaeology.

Oh, Ianto, you charmer. Now if I could just get you to attend a class or two, just so I could get your undivided attention for a few hours a week.

My classes are me, in low cut tops and very high heels, flailing about and flirting. It's not like REAL University! Well, I mean, I do actually teach, it's just with a lot more entertainment involved.

Yeah. It's called Chicago. I tried to get out once, but it pulled me back in.

I mean, not that this isn't weird, because it's pretty freakin' weird. But I think I'm okay with it. Does anyone know what happens back home while we're here? Like do we just disappear or is some version of us still walking around out there?

We're still there. Or not, in a couple of cases - some people have come here and then died back home. It seems like either the wormhole makes a complete copy of us, or whenever it gets around to returning us we go back to basically the next split second after we left, with no memory of having been gone.
