Going to a Dead Man's Party, Pt 1
Who: EVERYONE.
What: CASKET’s 16th Annual Halloween Party!!!
Where: CASKET
When: October 30th, starting at 7 pm sharp! This thread is getting posted early so everyone can get a head start on the festivities, since this weekend will undoubtedly be busy.
Warnings: Anything can happen.
Notes: All right, boils and ghouls, this is how things will go down.

Upon arriving at CASKET, for two hours everyone will remain in their mortal forms. Drink, discuss, have a good time. Please label your thread with the location of your character - At The Bar, On The Dance Floor, Lounge Area, On Stage Singing My Drunk Little Heart Out, In The Bathroom Puking My Guts Out, whatever strikes your fancy.

Let’s have everyone be nice and courteous: please ask before entering a thread in which there are already two people, unless of course you already have it planned that way.

At 9pm sharp, the deities will begin to take over their mortal shells, though not entirely; only certain aspects will show through, whether it be appearance, powers, or whatever. No full transformations. In this thread, you don’t have to worry about the deities just yet - I will post a second thread for that part of the night.

Have at!

Waiting for an invitation to arrive...goin' to a party where no one's still alive...

CASKET was done up with bells - every inch of the club was redecorated for the main event of the year. Though Julian professed to like no holiday above another, Halloween had always held a special place in his heart. Even if, in modern times, it was meant for those of a younger age, that didn’t mean those of a younger spirit couldn’t join in on the festivities as well! And he strove to provide the most elaborate environment possible for everyone to get their freak on. The addition of Pax patrons was a nice touch, or so he thought - with how lucrative his neighbors had been thus far, who knew what could happen next?

Red lights were exchanged for ultraviolet, hoping to pick out and showcase ghoulish specters in their best light. Every bartender was done up in the best make-up money could buy, elaborate skulls painted on their faces and dressed to match with bones detailing arms and rib cages. The stage area was covered in a thick, ground creeping fog, The Crypt Keeper Five’s instruments already set up and ready to take center stage once the karaoke was done for the evening. Multicolored string lights of skulls were hung from the rafters, adding a festive air to the space amidst the spiderwebs and other macabre decorations. Julian was surveying his work, his own face done up in a friendly looking sugar skull, skeletal gloves covering his fingers while a suit made him seem rather dashing despite his dead demeanor.

The club was already brimming with costume guests, ranging from the sexy to the obscene; as long as no one toted a fake weapon, anything was welcome. Lingering by the bar, he watched the entrance to see who might show up first - and to see if a certain wife was going to make an appearance. His mind lingered for the barest of moments over what would be clinging to those curves, but Julian quickly wiped his mind clean of those thoughts. Undoubtedly she’d only be here to cause trouble, nothing more. Instead, he ordered a Blue Voodoo Doll, which a skeletal Yvette handed to him with a smile. With his potentially most loyal ally manning the bar, Julian was ready for whatever this evening might bring; his lips curved into a smile as Oingo Boingo’s No One Lives Forever blared out over the sound system.

AT THE BAR--for now..? (Vanessa)

October had been damn uncomfortable for Idris. Everything had gone from bad to worse so fast; strange how a few dreams and a dead plant could lead to random encounters and...enjoyable situations to varying degrees. He wasn't entirely regretful about his personal activities this month, but he'd already decided this party at CASKET was going to be the thing to cast off the old and bring on the new. November had never looked better.

Vanessa had offered to front the cab bill this time, given he'd paid their way twice by now. With a well-placed remark about the third time being the charm, they'd ridden to the club together, both dressed appropriately for the occasion. Halloween might only be an excuse for people to dress up in outlandish, garish costumes, but Idris didn't mind joining their ranks. His costume wasn't so much on the side of garish as it was a true classic (though he didn't have a swashbuckling bone in his body), and he'd enjoyed the appraising look Vanessa'd given him when he'd showed up at her door to lead her downstairs.

Vanessa was dressed far more elaborately than he was, her curls piled high on her head and her cheeks marked with a definite blush--natural and otherwise. The dress she wore suited her, giving her a royal sort of air that reminded him vaguely of how Benjamin had looked when they'd all three gone to CASKET together. It was an odd thought to think, for they were both incredibly different people, and yet there it was, all the same. Funny what outfits could do for a person's appearance, for their attitude.

There was a minor mishap of Vanessa's skirt getting caught in the cab door as she tried to exit the vehicle, but they'd nonetheless arrived safe and sound. They'd broken in the night by tossing back a few shots and were both on their second drink--Vanessa's bartending expertise came in handy here, as she knew just what to order to make sure their night was properly enjoyed in a vaguely hazy, tipsy manner. Under the alcohol's influence, the glare from the lights strewn across the club seemed to slowly intensify.People were mingling in every corner, as far as Idris could see, and their voices served to drown out a few bad memories still lingering in his mind, as did his conversation with Vanessa (not to mention the brave souls who dared to sing karaoke, their screeching more than enough to keep him from remembering the more disturbing moments of October).

Idris hooked a boot on the bottom rung of Vanessa's bar stool, giving her a grin fueled by general mirth, although it might've been one part alcohol influenced. "Have to say, you know how to work the royalty look." He motioned to her costume vaguely with one hand. "It suits you."

Vanessa had been beyond excited when she had found the flier for the Halloween party at Casket, something like this was exactly what she needed. In October she had been sleeping less and less, having those atrocious night terrors. Once, the man that had been chasing her had turned into a giant snake, hissing as it chased her down the halls. The night terrors had just been the start of everything though. The strange night vision had been the worst, since it had led to a collision with Richard, and a very odd conversation. She was never able to figure out why her vision had suddenly gone so strange, and it hadn't happened again. The eye doctor thought she was absolutely batty and simply gave her a new prescription for reading glasses instead.

She had to admit that she was even more excited when Idris had agreed to take her up on her free cab offer. There was simply something about him that she couldn't put her finger on. He was after all, the first person she had met at Pax, and definitely the person she was the most comfortable with, but there was something more to it than that. As they drank at Casket, Vanessa couldn't get over this strange brother/sisterly feeling she suddenly felt towards him, but what made it even stranger was the fact that she was definitely still attracted to him. Of course after all that happened, Vanessa really didn't care or even think about anything one bit, it was just there as yet another strange thing to add to what had become her life.

She had taken her costume one step further and attached the knee highs to a garter belt, so that she didn't have to pull them up every time she decided to move. "Why thank you. I have to say, you definitely work the Zorro look." She laughed as she ordered them a round of shots, red headed sluts to be exact (Jagger, cranberry, and peachtree schnapps). Vanessa was turned around on her stool to face Idris, and she uncrossed her legs to rest her feet on the bottom rung of Idris's bar stool. "I'm glad to have found someone who appreciates getting drunk every once in awhile as much as me."

His eyes followed her movements in a lazy manner, accepting her comment with a shrug and a smile that was the close cousin of a smirk. He gave the bartender who returned with their shots a friendly 'thank you,' and allowed himself to glance down a bit too long at the shapely legs that were now stretched out in close proximity to him. Vanessa had almost mirrored his casual position, and he had to wonder for a split second how smooth the skin covered by the knee highs must be.

The thought brought to mind another set of legs he'd had the pleasure of seeing (and feeling) earlier in the month. Idris looked back to Vanessa's face, her cheekbones enhanced by the make-up she wore, his mind thinking of another despite the physicality of the woman next to him. He took one of the small shot glasses and smiled, waiting a moment before downing the drink, the glass put back down on the bar counter. The alcohol rolled down his throat and landed somewhere in the pit of his stomach, warming his insides and helping to urge on the buzz he already had.

"Well, you've got have a little fun in life, yeah? Doesn't hurt to unwind now and then. I'm a staunch believer in unwinding after a good day of hard work, nothing better to help a guy relax." There was a particular glint to his eyes, and as his mind was fogged up just the teensiest bit more, he shot a glance to the colorful lights that were near them. The name of the shots had helped rekindle the memory brought on by Vanessa's barely garbed legs, and he grinned once more.

"Met someone at Pax that glows about as bright and pretty as these lights. A redhead, kinda like what I just drank. Minus the slut." Idris nodded at the decorative lights, then looked back to Vanessa. The liquor was loosening his tongue, allowing him to let slip admissions he normally would have kept private. He almost felt as if he was being urged to say more by something other than the drinks in his system, but that thought surely had to be caused by the alcohol. There was no real need to talk about any of his sexual exploits with Vanessa, but still...still he wanted to push the information at her, in detail if necessary, to see what her reaction would be.

Which was a ridiculous notion, given they were friends of a sort, not paramours. Vanessa had kissed him that one time, but--Idris frowned slightly, trying to reign in the desire to spill the beans and cause a scene. As if Vanessa would get mad over him, a grown man, acting on his own primal urges and affections. She was easy on the eyes, and he couldn't help but feel as if they knew each other in a peculiar way other than being neighbors--however, there was no need for these thoughts. Idris waved the bartender back over, ordering another shot.

Vanessa laughed as he mentioned the beautiful radiant redhead. She wondered why Idris had mentioned her at all, if it was the liquor slipping it out, if he wished to create drama, or if he had simply wanted to talk to her about it like he would anyone. The last seemed highly unlikely and Vanessa assumed that it was actually a mixture of all three. Whatever Idris's reason for talking about the woman, Vanessa's reaction didn't surprise her, but she wondered if it surprised him. She certainly found Idris attractive and would go on a date with him if he asked her out; there was even a time where she would've daringly asked him if he wanted to go out sometime on a date, but for some reason, she never did. Vanessa blamed it on that strange feeling when she was with him, and tonight as they drank, even though it had only been for a very short time, she felt more and more like friends, possibly even sisterly, and it felt a bit weird to see him in a different light (even though she still did). Besides, there had been that... thing with Richard, even though she doubted anything would come from it.

She took her legs off of Idris's stool as she laughed, running a white high heel gently over his leg a bit. "Good for you," she had laughed for some reason, but she was genuine, and she hoped her face showed it. Vanessa ordered a shot of tequila from the bartender. The alcohol in her system stopped her from thinking about her words before she said them, that or she just didn't care to. "So a redhead huh? Do the carpets match the drapes?" Vanessa licked the back of her hand with a wicked smirk, shaking salt onto it. Quickly she tossed back the tequila shot and sucked on the lime.
