Who: OPEN
What: Pax Letale Halloween Bash 2010!
Where: The Empty Grave
When: 6:30-9 p.m.
Warnings: Likely any and all. Enter at your own risk.
Notes: This is the party post for all Pax residents and guests in attendance, right up to the moment of transformation. Use your subject line to denote your character's location (i.e. 'By the door,' 'at the bar,' 'on the dance floor,' 'in a coat closet.')

The air in Pax Letale crackled with possibility all day Sunday. All week, excited chatter had filled the hallway and the forums; costumes had been carried in and out; speculation on what the party would entail were whispered. By Sunday, the energy surrounding the event held so much promise that it hardly seemed like just a Halloween party anymore; it was something more, and that sense was nearly kinetic.

The main ballroom in the haunted mansion that was The Empty Grave was expansive, but guests had already begun to arrive. When they entered, they found lush opulence withered and faded; grandeur, but with an eerie pall over it. It was perfect for Halloween - dark, ghostly, with a twisted Victorian edge to it. The bar was fully stocked, trays of h'ors d'oeuvres passed around and more substantial fare offered on ornate platters along one wall. A DJ was already spinning a mix of music that somehow managed to fit the theme and appeal to the eclectic demographic he was serving, and attractive (if ghastly) characters added flavor to the already colorful room.

The night had begun.

Briefly his gaze followed hers, his soft smile glittering brightly in his eyes as Zara came into view. "Not at all," he said, chuckling quietly. "I believe with any decent degree of attentiveness, you can get a feeling for people like that. Anchors in your life, you might say." He shrugged, his grip loosening somewhat as their steps began to slow, the music beginning to wind down. "Even barring those warm and fuzzy sentiments, it's my job to be able to keep things together. She's quite good at it, too; we met through work, organizing a fundraiser." He shook his head, cutting off his rambling monologue before it could grow uncomfortably monotonous. "I suppose I only mean you're a good judge of character," he said, tossing her a playful wink.

Their dance came to a softly sweeping close, their neat footsteps well timed with the end of the song. Navid dropped his erstwhile partner a small, polite bow as they parted, his hands falling neatly to his sides. "Do let us know about dinner, birthday girl," he said. "We can't take no for an answer."

Laughing softly, Kami took a step back and, despite the shortness of her skirt, managed a passable little curtsy in return to Navid's nice manners. "Alright, alright," she agreed. "I'm kind of afraid now that you'd hunt me down and drag me off." She paused then and her smile gentled, eyes warm. "Thank you. Thank you so much." Her hand indicated the dance floor vaguely. "For that, the company, and just being yourself. I really look forward to some dinner dates with you two."

She took another step back and, dramatic and teasing, she lifted both hands to her mouth and blew playful kisses to both Navid and Zara. "And I'll let you know if my nuisance gets to be more than I can handle, too," she added. "Now take your lady for a dance. She's languishing without you!"

With that final order, Kami winked, ducked another curtsy, and slipped back into the crowd mingling on the dance floor.
