Briefly his gaze followed hers, his soft smile glittering brightly in his eyes as Zara came into view. "Not at all," he said, chuckling quietly. "I believe with any decent degree of attentiveness, you can get a feeling for people like that. Anchors in your life, you might say." He shrugged, his grip loosening somewhat as their steps began to slow, the music beginning to wind down. "Even barring those warm and fuzzy sentiments, it's my job to be able to keep things together. She's quite good at it, too; we met through work, organizing a fundraiser." He shook his head, cutting off his rambling monologue before it could grow uncomfortably monotonous. "I suppose I only mean you're a good judge of character," he said, tossing her a playful wink.
Their dance came to a softly sweeping close, their neat footsteps well timed with the end of the song. Navid dropped his erstwhile partner a small, polite bow as they parted, his hands falling neatly to his sides. "Do let us know about dinner, birthday girl," he said. "We can't take no for an answer."
