Notes: Welcome to another game event thread! The same rules apply as before; please mark where your character can be found in the event location (i.e., by the bar, seated in the lounge, on the dance floor). If possible, please use a time stamp so we can keep track of everyone. If you have a specific person coming into your thread, please mark the thread with their name (i.e., by the bar, 7:30 pm - daniel), otherwise please indicate that you're 'open'. If a thread is already occupied, please talk with the players before jumping in. Any questions, please contact the mods!

The only acquiescence to the theme that had been supplied by the location selected for the latest Pax event was Flogging Molly blaring from the jukebox crammed so close to the bathroom that men and women alike had to slide their asses over its front, glass-encased menu to pee in privacy. The rest of the bar had been left untouched; the money covering every grimey inch a reminder of all the hard work put into the small bar that kept it alive.

Extra liquor was provided by the complex, entirely unnecessary and yet done regardless. Food was likewise on hand, this time the Pax management sending over their particular cook to create a plethora of holiday-themed foods: bite-sized servings of Irish stew on kabobs, shepherd's pie in small cups complete with edible potato spoons, Irish soda bread, chocolate stout cupcakes, and scones just a small sampling of the menu on hand. The bar's owner had provided her own take on the holiday's culinary offerings with gummy shamrocks soaked in vodka.

Staff was left entirely up to the location's owner, though carefully vetted by Pax management. It seemed all was well in hand by the time the first tenants decided to arrive.

"More like not drunk enough," she shot back, perfectly comfortable with the attempted accusation. "Why, is it that much of a shock to see your older sister with some alcohol in her hands?" She chucked her chin in the direction of his own beer, her brows rising. "Not like you're Mr. Innocent over here. How much more character you need to build? You keep going by Dad's estimate, you're never gonna be done." She smiled as she took another sip of her beverage through a black straw, casting a glance over one shoulder as she spied Alice chatting with Rafe and another brunette BB didn't know. At least she was away from Percy, and any other potential male candidates for her hand; she hand't seen the previously named man all evening, which was a boost to her confidence. She probably shouldn't have wandered away from her redheaded charge so quickly, but when nature called BB tended to answer in the quickest possible fashion; she'd collect her redhead at the end of the night.

"So," she said, looking back to Augustus. "What's up? What's shakin', Gusgus? How's school?"

Gus shook his head, grin fading to a wry ghost of a smile. There was no brokering an argument with BB--unless the situation explicitly called for it. Given that he hadn't seen her in quite a few months, now seemed like the exact opposite of the right time.

As if to prove how much character he was building tonight (and how much his liver could potentially take), Gus raised his half-full beer bottle in an open toast. "Dad's got high standards, you know how he is." With a swig, he let the alcohol bubble down the back of his throat. Picking at the small pie in front of him, he followed BB's errant gaze for a moment, wondering who it was she'd caught in her sights this time.

The crowd was thick enough, however, that he couldn't quite make out whoever BB was trying to keep an eye on. However, given that this was BB, it might not matter in another five or ten minutes. Hell, it might not matter in a year. BB's heart and attention was fickle.

"The only thing shaking is the shake 'n bake chicken I made the other night for dinner. It was pretty awful, BB. This pie is like. At least five times better." His brows furrowed as he struggled with how much to tell her about his current school situation, given that it was entirely wrapped up with why he was now living at Pax Letale in the first place. "Better. It's been better. My old roommates kicked me out of our place."

"What???" Her attention was now fully focused -- in that moment, anyway -- on her younger brother. She popped forward slightly over the table, dumbfounded. "Hold up, what'd you do? Because if you ate all the Cheerios again, I gotta say that I side with them, Gusgus, because you can be a real piggy sometimes...

"No, I'm joking, seriously, what the hell happened? And good thing then that you were able to score a place at Pax. They're so fucking picky, I'm kinda floored that you and Alice made it through the gauntlet."

"No, freaking a, BB." Annoyed at her suggestion--even if it was a joke, Gus downed more of his beer. "Here's what really happened. Okay?"

He no longer fidgeted with the remaining pie, instead bracing himself for his sister's reaction. In one breath, he told her the truth.

"They got a dog, BB. A big dog. Like. They didn't ask if I was okay with it." Flustered, a piece of the pie went down his hatch, quickly devoured. "You know I can't stand dogs. They basically kicked me out when they did that."

BB's face cartoonishly flipped over to surprise, brows and eyes going wide.

"Are you fucking serioustold somebody, right? They can't just kick you out. That's so fucked." She angrily pushed her drink to the side, and then pulled it back, frustration clear in her limbs.

"That's great then, that you could move here. I mean, some people got some dogs, but they're up on one of the top floors. Smaller chance of running into 'em, not like actually living in the same apartment as one. Fuck, that's so messed up!"

His sister's outrage at the utter injustice that had so recently happened to him gave him a burst of energy. He slugged back the rest of his beer, hitting the empty bottle back on the table just a tad too hard.

"I was so pissed. Like. That's not cool. At all." Crumbs were beginning to decorate the tabletop, the remains of his pies quickly accumulating for a barmaid to clean up later. "Yeah, yeah. I'm glad I got a place here. Dad's kinda helping me. Just a little, you know. I'm looking for a job."

Gus glanced hopefully towards the bar, wanting another beer. But he wasn't yet ready to part from his sister, and besides, she was completely on his side right now. It felt good. It felt right. Plus, she'd given him some great advice about which apartment floors to completely and utterly avoid at all costs. The sixth floor was safe--and he'd try to keep it that way.

"BB, what do you do around here for fun? I haven't met anyone yet. Except you. But you're my sister. No offense."

"Um, offense taken, Gusgus, offense so taken," BB replied, a cheeky smile curving her lips all the same. She sipped her drink, draining it nearly to the bottom. She caught his glance, and started to slide out of the bar.

"Look, I'll turn off the big sister mode for one evening, OK? I'll get us another round of beers, maybe some shots. Let's play quarters! I'll see if I can grab my friend Daniel, otherwise we can just play. You can tell me, like, all about what classes you're taking. Maybe some of the cute girls?" She stood, wrapping a hand around her empty glass, grinning.

"Yeah, that sounds great. Let's do it. Right now." His countenance visibly brightened; they may not have been able to spend an ample amount of time together as children, but as adults...was it possible?

Regardless if alcohol was involved, Gus was excited. BB hadn't seemed to change very much since she'd left for college, and it was really for the better.

"I'll drink you under the table. And him. The Daniel guy."

"Woah there, cowboy," BB replied, pointing the index finger of the hand wrapped around the glass at him. "You better slow it with those britches before you get too big for 'em." She fixed him with a look.

"Be right back. You better still be here."

And then she was gone, wading through the crowd to the bar, where she could easily be seen acquiring the beers and shots she'd said she would.

[ooc: close here? they are 2 cute]

One, two, three.

That was the amount of time it would take before Gus would let himself be outdone by BB or her friend.

Tonight was going to be a good night after all.

[ooc: closed and accounted for...! :D I LOVE THEM.]
