From D1-B
Hello everyone. It looks like Zara did a fine job introducing me, so I'll spare you all the small talk. My name is Navid Arzani. I'll be in D1 when I'm not at work, and I'm looking forward to meeting my new neighbors as time permits. I run a few growing civil and religious rights advocacy organizations, most notably an interfaith education/tolerance program. You'll probably get tired of seeing announcements about our events, but you can ignore those easily enough. For those who don't ignore them, we can always use volunteers. Send me a message whenever you're interested, and we'll find something for you to do.

[Locked to 705]

How are you faring, Brighid? I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier I was going to be your neighbor. Things have been a bit hectic since Zara and I decided to make the move. You'll have to come up and visit when you have a spare moment.

[Locked to T1]

What's this I hear about a dinner party? Let me know what we should bring. I hate showing up somewhere empty handed.

[Locked to P3]

It's been a while. I was sorry to hear about your father's passing. I'd like to stop by when you're available; we have a lot of catching up to do, it seems.

I work quickly, my good man. Alex has been making sure I don't turn the tower into a frat house, so I'm eager to show it off. But anyway, yes, how about you all take care of dessert? I can do many things but baking is not one of them and it would end up being burned brownies from a box if I handled that part.

Quickly is an understatement. The hospitality and welcome are appreciated! I'll ask Zara for a few ideas; I'm sure between the two of us we can come up with something not quite so Sandra Lee.

I'm curious to see the tower, myself. Beautiful architecture. Perhaps a bit excessive for one person, but I won't deny you've earned it. How are you settling in? I'm curious to learn what kind of place Pax Letale really is, aside from what the brochure's copy says.

Excellent. I'll wait 'till you two are settled and then we can have a completely not-Sandra Lee or Martha Stewart dinner get together.

It is beautiful, the views are fantastic especially during the sunset - though let's just say the solitude I thought I would enjoy more than I actually do. My son's on the first floor and I'm sure he'd rather I be in Timbuktu but that's the way life goes because a man's greatest treasure is his family, and so on and so forth. Otherwise I'm settling in nicely. Pax Letale is [...] well, it's definitely an experience.

Oh, and send me a calendar of your organizations upcoming events and I'll have the culture correspondent put them into all the papers?

I'm sure in time he'll come around. I read about the accident. I assume he has a lot to process right now. Regardless, he's blessed to have you close and supportive. If either of you ever need to vent, you know I'm willing to listen.

And that would be extremely useful. I'll get the calendar to you first thing in the morning. It's updated frequently; I assume I should forward adjustments as they're made?

He's very big on independence right now, and I certainly don't blame him. But I just want to make sure he's not pushing himself too hard. My son's not supposed to go before I do - the entire incident and the immediate period afterward scared the hell out of me. And thank you, I appreciate it. The tower's good for business get togethers and I have a lot of those but venting I sometimes forget how to do.

Yes, of course. Forward as much as you want, when you want, and I'll see it all gets in there.

I can't begin to imagine what that was like for you both. He's come through this much - he's clearly got a measure of your tenacity in him. Really, Pierce, I can usually get behind working and setting personal matters aside, but don't forget to take care of yourself. Sometimes getting these things off your chest is the only way to be ease the pressure.

Thank you again, Pierce. It's a very good cause you're helping!

That he does. The stubbornness (or tenacity, as you nicely put it) is certainly a trait from yours truly. Ah, you are correct, Navid! “The sorrow which has no vent in tears may make other organs weep.” Meaning that it's either venting or a brain aneurysm. Elaine was always my sounding board. She was good at it too.

Not a problem! Happy to help anytime. If I can do more, please let me know. A little culture and education never hurt anyone.

Listening well is a gift, I think. Perhaps you'll find someone else to fill that space. Until then, try to avoid that brain aneurysm however you can, hm?

It seems to be. Any idiot can pretend to listen, but empathetic listening is something else entirely. Don't worry, no brain aneurysms are on the horizon. Though if it happens, I expect a damn good speech at my funeral from you, Navid.

So, so true. And I hate to even think of it, Pierce. But should it come to that, you'd of course get nothing less.

Make sure it's reported that I bit it in an interesting way.

Here lies the body of our Pierce
Done to death by a banana
It wasn't the fruit that laid him low
But the skin of the thing that made him go.

Truly epic. I'd say it'd be a noble death, but that I'm not so sure about...

I'm only looking up the rubber-bands and paperclips for running for city council. Anytime is cool with me. Especially for an old (and I mean it literally, you old fart.) friend.

So, what kind of stuff would you need volunteers for? Just curious. I'm Evan in 106, by the way. Welcome!

[info]arzani

Thank you, Evan! We need volunteers for almost anything. Administrative work is probably the biggest need - people willing to help with mass mailings, phone canvassing, filing, etc. Some of our work, especially for specific events, can always use artists or writers willing to donate their time and skill for brochures and such. And we always need people willing to come to the events and work then, too. Basically whatever you're interested in and comfortable with, we can keep you busy.

Well then, I might be your girl! I'm only looking at working at a diner which is pretty cliche for a new arrival from the sticks pretty open when it comes to my schedule at the moment, so if you need someone to pass out fliers or file stuff, I'd be really happy to help.

I'll be sure to keep you in mind! I really appreciate the offer - even an hour or two of time is extremely helpful. It's always good to see new volunteers. And not a bad way to meet new neighbors, either, apparently!

I'm sitting right next to you on the couch as I type this, giggling. You keep having your intent-almost-stern face on, and you've looked up at me and smiled twice. The next time you reach for your drink, I'm going to get in your way and giggle some more.

I know I'm having way too much fun with this. You just looked up at me again because I'm giggling again. :D I love living together and I love you! LOLOL

You are welcome to get in my way any time you like, lovely. Although I'd really rather just put the laptop away, if it's your intention to distract me.

Uncail! Da just reminded me the other day that you were in Los Angeles and that I needed to check in with you, but he never mentioned you'd be moving here. How sneaky of him! I'd be pleased to come up to see you sometime soon. And welcome to Pax.

Thank you, Brighid! I suppose he didn't want to tell you and then the plans fall through. I promise there was no conspiracy! I'm looking forward to catching up with you, though. School and everything going well?
