It's like regular coffee has become extinct in this city. The good stuff, not the remenants of an oil change some places try to pass off as coffee.

So many people in this city seem impressed by this coffee. I've found it a little strong for my tastes and dreadfully bitter and yet seem to still want more of it.

Is that normal

It's called a caffeine addiction, which usually results from drinking too much coffee. So yeah, I guess you could call that normal.

But logically I...

I need to stop drinking the unpleasent bitter stuff. Is there a less addictive alternative?.

I am Tenel Ka, by the way. Reasonably new here. Long enough to discover coffee at any rate

Lindsey McDonald. Welcome to LA.

That one I have yet to try. There seem to be innumerable flavours.

Ah...Yes I believe I have heard of you.

Thank You.

I don't know enough about them to suggest anything. Someone might be able to tell you what tastes good.

Can't say it's probably been good things.

I'll ask around.

I...think I can safely say that they have been interesting things.

It's a step above horrible at least.

Why does interesting have to be negative.

If I said I was acquainted with Faith would that help?

It'd make a lot of sense.

Ah.

Yes Faith has proven to be a good friend in the time since my arrival in this city. And you are a friend to her are you not?

Interesting again Mr McDonald.

Just so we're clear... there will be no telling Lindsey exactly what kinds of... interesting things I've been telling you about him.

Enlightening?

No of course I wouldn't. What do you take me for Faith.

But yes, enlightning. I really am not sure what to make of the man's reaction to my mentioning of our aquaintance.

I was just curious

Just wanted to be sure that we were both very very clear on that... I really don't want him to know. Ever.

Good rule with Lindsey McDonald? Never be totally sure what to make about his reactions, ever. Hell, I don't even know what he makes of me, let alone anyone associated with me.

Curiosity sated?

And he won't know from me.

I know a man like that. Reactions so hard, almost impossible to read. It doesn't mean they don't care.

Curiosity sated.

Cool. Well, thanks, in which case it's all five by five yeah?

I'm reasonably sure Lindsey doesn't care. Ok, that's unfair, I'm sure he cares about some things, but he's made it very clear that our relationship is strictly professional. Apart from when it occasionally gets blurry I guess. Oh hell if I know.

Good.

Twenty Five? What relevance does that have.

Look I don't presume to understand him, But I have dealt with countless suitors and courtiers and nobles not to mention Jacen Solo.

And what I have discovered is that so very few of them say what they mean but you will know when you find one that says what they feel.

And believe me, sometimes...the blurry moments are the ones fondest remembered.

Oh.. it's a saying. Means everything's good. Picked it up from one of Mom's boyfriends.

Men confuse me. Always have. I kinda have the worst track record.

Yeah, or they're the ones that play on your mind too much

I like it. If I ever get home its going into a speech. On Hapes it would of course be lies, is it often used to concel the fact that everything is not...five by five.

The first time I really realized I loved Jacen was after he accidently cut off my arm. And that was long before the bad times Jaina speaks of. Do you really want to talk track record Faith.

Fact, however if the memories play on your mind they do so for a reason

I'm often being sarcastic when I use it, sure. And I kinda like the idea that something i say is gonna get used in royal speeches!

Ok, so maybe you have a point. Still.. Last guy I was with was using me as a way to try to reconnect with his dead mother. Guy before that I tried to kill.

To coin a phrase you seem to use a lot- Fact. Be a whole lot easier if we could just erase memories.

Thats conditional on me, first, ever getting back to Hapes and second, still having a Throne if I do.

Even now several high ranking noblewomen are killing each other to take over. And there are an awful lot of one armed suitors and courtiers wondering just what to do with themselves.

I suspect that is the difference with us Faith, there have been other...dalliances, but I have loved only one man in all of my life. I can't fathom how you can love more than once.

We are very different but I stand by my opinion of your lawyer friend.

...No, No erasing memory is never acceptable, such things infringe on the most basic of rights. Its a path to the Dark, Faith.
