Strewth! Generally when a god-type comes around asking for favours, help and the like, I’m usually bollocks deep in fire, brimstone and blood by now. But oh, no. Apparently it’s all just tropics and sunshine here. Which, admittedly, did not expect. Not completely unpleasant for a turn. It’s right bloody humid though, innit?

Wales! You don't say. Practically my neck of the woods!

Oh, I've been down and around most every block. Done a bit of this and that. You first though, love. Tell ol' John about your grand adventures.

Kinda figured you might know the area. Yep, Cardiff to be precise, be kicking around there nearly a century. Still never going to understand the native language, though. I've known entities without tongues that make sounds that are easier to reproduce.

Pleasure, John. Jack Harkness. I'd say mostly the same, but with the added bounus of most of the blood being alien. Which, even if some of it actually does do wonders for your hair, usually isn't worth the hassle of dealing with the thing it came out of. I'd need a couple nights to give you the full story, the boring but short version is guarding a nasty little tear in the universe we've got in my universe's version of Cardiff.

I'm nothing but transparent, it seems. Cardiff's a nice spot, even if it is no London or Liverpool. Not actually from the area then? Century is a bit long to sit on one place and not learn a tongue, mind.

Aliens, you say? Jack Harkness, that's a bloody interesting job you've managed to find yourself, if I believe it. I'd take the few nights needed to hear those stories. And not just because I'm currently homeless.

Not really from anywhere, 'least not anywhere that's going to actually exist for another few hundred years. And in my defense, most folks don't speak actual Welsh regularly anymore. My written's better than my spoken, but that's not saying anything. Besides, I usually had a cute coworker around who could translate well enough when I did run into it.

Hey, assuming you got here like the rest of us, you got an invite from a very attractive woman saying she's a goddess, aliens shouldn't be that hard to swallow. Well, they can be, but the idea of 'em shouldn't. But I'm more than happy to spend a couple hours giving you some evidence, or at least a couple good stories.

Time travel? Been a while since I've seen anyone who managed that properly. I suppose I could forgive it all, considering circumstance.

Oh, I believe it. Never come across one, is all. Seen a few things in my time, though - a goddess is impressive, but not the most impressive. The swallowing bit is something I can handle, is what I'm saying. And I'd take whatever evidence you're willing to show. Big fan of hard evidence, I am.

For a given definition of 'properly', I suppose. Havne't paradoxed out yet, anyway, which is more than can be said for most the folks I used to work with.

Ah, see, that's a mindset I can respect. And despite what a few people might like to say, that's the only type of evidence I'd be showing off to the right audience.

Interesting.

Don't know what anyone says about anything. I'm completely new.

And that's not even the smallest tip of the iceberg. For starters, there's at least three of me kicking around 1941. Probably going to try to avoid another trip through for the sake of the universe.

All the more reason I should prove myself in person and at length.

Someone is having a good time in '41.

Agreed. Where is it you hide out, then?

It was a good year. Great champagne, blondes hanging off barrage balloons waiting for yours truly to come to the rescue, lots of boys in uniform looking to make the best of things. As wartime goes, I've seen a lot worse. multiple times

Bit south the main camp. The kinda ramschackle tent I'm working on getting a little more homey now that our benevolent gods gave me a bed that filled up the place.

Have a thing for blondes, do you?

'Least you've got place. Going to need to worry about that in my future, it seems. And why not. "Come to our fancy island," they said. "Build a new world, better life, get your rocks off with no negative effects. By the way, you're bloody homeless now."

Among lots of other types of beings I have a thing for. Like to think I'm pretty indiscriminate, as far as that goes.

I was living in--let's chartiably call it the basement, before I got here. Actually still getting used to the idea of having more space than I need for a steamer trunk and military-grade cot. You need a hand getting settled or with anything else for that matter, I'm nearly infatigable these days.
