Strewth! Generally when a god-type comes around asking for favours, help and the like, I’m usually bollocks deep in fire, brimstone and blood by now. But oh, no. Apparently it’s all just tropics and sunshine here. Which, admittedly, did not expect. Not completely unpleasant for a turn. It’s right bloody humid though, innit?

Humid yes but I'm kind of glad there's no blood and brimstone.

Generally a thing to be glad for, as it were. Though you sweat long enough, not sure if there's a difference.

I suppose that's true. Although I've never seen anyone sweat blood.

Not the prettiest sight. I don't recommend trying it or watching it.

Wotcher, then? What's on with this pretty island?

I've smelled a sweaty Klingon which might be as bad as brimstone, not sure about that.

I'm Christine. I've been here since Saturday, they tell me people have lots of sex and make babies here to replenish the civilization. I don't know if the island actually has a name but I've heard it called Sex Island.

There's a bit more sulphur than you'd expect.

Christine. Pleased to meet, all that. I'm John.
Sex Island is quite the moniker. Sort of just unapologetically puts it all out there, don't it.

The heat does not bother me, but I do find that a minimal amount of clothing helps with that. None is better, but that makes people uncomfortable.

Some people are just prudes. Then again, I can think of a few places on my person where I don't want sand.

There is a waterfall that helps remove the sand.

The humidity is one of the real few downsides, though I'd say it's balanced out with the lack of blood and fire. Managed to avoid brimstone so far, but done enough time with the other two to appreciate any place that isn't covered in 'em the vast majority of the time. My hair might beg to differ, though.

Your hair have a preference for blood and fire? Then, the former isn't as bad against split ends.

It's more acclimatized to that than humidity. Which says as much about my job than it does the climate of Wales, actually. Which does raise the question of what sort of gig you've been working to be just about of the same mind.

Wales! You don't say. Practically my neck of the woods!

Oh, I've been down and around most every block. Done a bit of this and that. You first though, love. Tell ol' John about your grand adventures.

Kinda figured you might know the area. Yep, Cardiff to be precise, be kicking around there nearly a century. Still never going to understand the native language, though. I've known entities without tongues that make sounds that are easier to reproduce.

Pleasure, John. Jack Harkness. I'd say mostly the same, but with the added bounus of most of the blood being alien. Which, even if some of it actually does do wonders for your hair, usually isn't worth the hassle of dealing with the thing it came out of. I'd need a couple nights to give you the full story, the boring but short version is guarding a nasty little tear in the universe we've got in my universe's version of Cardiff.

I'm nothing but transparent, it seems. Cardiff's a nice spot, even if it is no London or Liverpool. Not actually from the area then? Century is a bit long to sit on one place and not learn a tongue, mind.

Aliens, you say? Jack Harkness, that's a bloody interesting job you've managed to find yourself, if I believe it. I'd take the few nights needed to hear those stories. And not just because I'm currently homeless.

It is rather hot here. I do wish I'd have thought to pack clothing for a safari instead of a classroom. But tis but one of my many oversights. I'm Charles Xavier, welcome to the island.

It's very hot. But I've been assured there's a waterfall, apparently.
Did you have safari clothes just laying around? A teacher, are you?

John Constantine.

There is a very lovely waterfall and cool pool at the bottom. I've been soaking in it a lot recently. I'd be happy to show it to you if you'd like to see it, John? Ah, I'm a professor, or I used to be. I actually don't think I had any though probably I could have fit in my fathers if my mother had them packed away somewhere in our home. They would have been rather old. I'd have purchased some if I'd known. That and brought a few bottles of alcohol. You don't happen to have anything to drink do you?

I'm ten kinds of interested in seeing it, at least. Always good to know the lay of the land.

Hindsight is bullshit. I get that. Already I'm considering myself unprepared. Not nearly enough of anything. And here, me, in a bloody oxford button up. I don't have a drink, mate, but I see how the need for a proper GnT could be a thing here. I've got cigarettes, though.

Sure, we can go together. Have a soak and all that, it feels nice after all the heat to sit in the cool water awhile.

Well, that's great you brought some. There aren't any cigarettes or alcohol here. There is pot though, I am rationing what I have at the moment since I seem to be having a bit of a problem with withdrawal from that daily drink I was used to having. Hence, a lot of cool baths and all that.
