Thank you, Magic Knights, for granting Emeraude's final wish... Zagato had said, holding her in his arms as they went to spend eternity together. Hikaru, Umi and Fuu had granted her wish. Her wish to end her own life so that she may no longer be the pillar of Cephiro and be free to be with her one and only love.
Death had not been as unpleasant as she'd imagined. Once the Magic Knights killed her with their mashin, her life ended instantly and the evil version of herself was purified. In death, it was almost like floating in a never ending sea with Zagato's arms around her holding her close. What she'd wanted from the very beginning. This is where I may think only of Zagato...
But when the comforting arms around her suddenly disappeared and she no longer felt his presence, Emeraude knew there was something very wrong. All alone in empty space, she looked around frantically. This wasn't right. "Zagato?" she cried out, tears coming to crystalline blue-green eyes. "Where are you? Come back to me!" No response. No one there. Her hands came to her face, wiping away the tears that had fallen.
Then, all at once, Emeraude was somewhere completely different. In the middle of what seemed to be a city. Her heart was beating and she was breathing (more like hyperventilating but breathing nonetheless). She wasn't dead. The slender woman got to her feet, the hem of her long white dress brushing the ground. Her hands ran through her hair and over the emerald tiara she wore and then down over her shoulders and torso. Solid. Human. And very much alive.
"Where am I?" she looked around the alley she had appeared in. "What is this? Where is Zagato?" At that moment, the feeling of his arms around her would have brought her so much comfort.
"Who's this Zagato, little lady?" a voice spoke behind her. Emeraude turned to look at the person speaking to her. Her eyes fell upon a tall pale man with black hair and alluring eyes. He smiled at her, baring sharp fangs. She backed away from him slightly, arms hugging her midsection. "Not going to talk? Well, no matter. A pretty litle thing like you will make a lovely meal..." he said, drawing closer to her and grabbing her by the wrist, roughly pulling her to him.
"Let me go!" she screamed, struggling against him. But the petite woman was no match for him. "Let me go! As Princess of Cephiro I order you to let me go!" she yelled. He only laughed. "A princess, hm? I've been told noble blood tastes oh so sweet..." He chuckled darkly, holding both of her wrists in one hand and using the other to stroke a hand down her cheek and the side of her neck. She flinched from his touch, but that only seemed to encourage him more.
Not knowing what else to do, Emeraude closed her eyes and began to pray. She prayed for someone to come and save her and for all of this to be a dream so she could go back to her one and only love and spend eternity with him.
