Emeraude nodded her understanding. This place was very different from home. Things never would have been this way in Cephiro. Suddenly, she wanted so badly to go back into death. At least in death, she had no problems, no worries and no fears. But now that she had been given back life, all of those things were back to stay.
She looked around at where they now stood. It was pretty unnerving in its own right, even without the vampire. Oddly, this alleyway reminded her of the Water Dungeon where she had trapped herself so she could not see her true love's face and concentrate on praying for her world's well being. It was dark and quiet. But in her self-induced prison, there were no monsters that could kill her.
The promptness of his reply to her question surprised her slightly. She would have though that such a thing would have been a long story. Apparently not. "Oh," she said, "I see."
Emeraude could see the seriousness on his face and hear it in his tone when he said she couldn't tell anyone. "I won't tell a soul. You have my word." She could bear a secret for eternity if she had to. If only not to lose the trust of the person who had told her.
