Entry tags:!status: complete, ^date: november 10 2003, character: alicia spinnet, character: george weasley

Who: Alicia Spinnet and George Weasley
What: Date!
Where: Ciao Trattoria
When: November 10, 6PM
Rating: Should be worksafe at the beginning, potentially not so much so later on

George was actually nervous as he was getting ready for the date. He'd skipped out during his lunch break to make reservations at the nicest restaurant on Diagon Alley, which had been a little complicated, because really they prefered you made appointments a few weeks out, but George had it on good authority that if you greased the correct palms, you could get in. Which, thankfully, had worked, because otherwise he'd need a plan B. So now he was getting dressed and preparing to apparate to Alicia's flat to get her. He really wanted everything to go perfectly, he didn't want to blow his chance with her.

Once he was ready, he left his flat, locked up the shop, and stopped at a flower shop close by to grab a bouquet before apparating and appearing at her front door. He took one deep breath before knocking confidently on the door and waiting for her to respond.

Alicia'd had better days. First had been the nightmare again, then several appointments during the course of the day which hadn't quite allowed her to catch up on lost sleep. There had been a few moments when she had considered owling George to reschedule, but in the end, she had decided that she would not let whatever this was affect her life. She'd stopped by Mel's apothecary in Hogsmeade after doing a massage for the keeper of the Tutshill Tornados and picked up a pepper-up to help keep her awake and aware during the evening to come.

But now she was in the loo of her flat, touching up her lipstick and smoothing over the curves of her dress as she waited for George to arrive. The little satin bolero she wore helped keep her halter from seeming too revealing, thank Merlin, though she could just imagine her friends playfully chiding her for wearing such a flashy shade of pink.

She'd decided to leave her hair loose - it was less work that way - and sighed as she looked at her reflection. Yes, there were butterflies in her stomach - rather silly, really, since not only had she known George for over a decade, but he'd already seen her nearly naked. Perhaps it had simply been far too long since she'd had an actual date. Yes, that was it.

She heard the knock and stepped out into the main room, slowing to grab her black wrap and pull it on over her shoulders before opening the door with a smile, that turned into a gasp of surprise as she saw the flowers in George's hand. Her eyes momentarily strayed to take in the rest of him, which looked rather sharp and well put together, particularly the trousers that seemed to hug his hips a little too well...

She blushed and lifted her eyes to his. "Hey," she said, fingering a touch of fringe on her wrap. "You're on time - an excellent sign."

When she opened the door, he was equally as pleased at what he saw. She looked marvelous, and he had to counciously shut his mouth so he wasn't gaping at her. Once he got himself under control, he made a playful bow to her and held the flowers out to her before straitening up and smiling sweetly. "You look absolutely stunning," he said, reaching out to brush a strand of hair out of her face. "I try to be on time, it's important, especially when there's a beautiful woman waiting for me." He completely meant it too, she was gorgeous, and he couldn't stop staring at her, and not in an objectifying way, but in a truely appreciating and admiring way.

"So, I made a reservation for us at Ciao Trattoria, the Italian place down the street from my shop. I hope that's alright, they tend to have really good food and wine." When she was ready to go, he held his arm out to her like a gentleman.

She lifted her hand to cover a snort of laughter as he bowed down and gladly took the flowers, bringing them up to her nose so she could take in their lovely scent. "Thank you," she replied genuinely, pulling out her wand to accio an empty vase. She put the flowers in and cast aguamenti to fill it, then placed it on her coffee table. She fondled one of the petals before turning around to face her date.

"Wait, doesn't that restaurant have a really long waiting period?" she asked in confusion as she grabbed her clutch. "Did you have plans with someone else tonight? I wouldn't want to intrude..."

He laughed at her comment. "Yes, because I'm that popular that I have multiple dates on one night. No you just have to know the right people to talk to, and I know those people, a few of whom are good regular customers of mine, they were more than happy to help me out. So, shall we?" He was amused by how she reacted to that, but it pleased him. He wanted to impress her, after all.

As they left, he kept glancing at her, unable to completely take his eyes off her. "So, how is business going?" he asked. "I mean the massues thing, not the other one, I know that's going well." He smiled wickedly at her. By the time they got to the restaurant, a table was waiting for them, and they were quickly seated and given menus.

She nodded, a little relieved. She hadn't been concerned he'd had two dates, she was more concerned he'd canceled dinner with a family member or a business partner or some such thing. It would have been rather awkward had that been the case, but she was glad it wasn't.

She playfully slapped his arm at the mention of her 'other' business, though it was kind of nice to be able to even discuss it with someone who not only knew what she did, but didn't find it repugnant. "I had a few sessions today, one with the Tornados' keeper. Trying to keep his muscles in form during the off-season and all that. All in all, was a good day."

She slid her wrap off her shoulders, leaving her in her dress and bolero, and folded it to place on the back of her chair - but a waiter quickly came by and took it away for her with a bow of his head. She sat and looked over the menu, wondering what she felt like eating - though as always, her eyes strayed to the prices more than the items, as she'd penny pinched most of her life.

"What about you? Anything in particular selling well?"

While George normally wouldn't cancel serious meetings or get togethers with family, he felt like if it had come down to it, he would have picked Ally over the others and made up some excuse to rearange plans with them. Thankfully, it hadn't come down to that, but he wouldn't have really cared so much. At least his family would have been thrilled to know he was going on a date, but he wasn't sure he was ready to breach that topic with his mom at least quite yet. He wanted to see how things went first.

He did smile at her smack to his arm, and nodded at what she said about work. When they were seated, he watched her shawl get whisked away and smiled in amusement at the level of service, he'd actually never eaten here before, but he'd heard it was good, so he hoped they lived up to that. He didn't think she'd be looking at prices, it really wasn't a big deal, he could splurge on her happily.

"Well, the naughtier line has been doing well, and some of the basics. Seems we get at least one order daily from Hogwarts for Skyving Snack Boxes, and the Peruvian Darkness Powder is always a hot sell. Other than that, most things are doing well. I've got to get a break from work long enough to make some new things, I've got a few things in the wings, but nothing finished yet."

Her menu lowered as she looked up with an expression of curiostiy and interest. "Naughtier line? Why George, I had no idea. This is something I'll have to see next time I'm at the shop."

Not that she'd been in years, but perhaps a visit was long past due.

She closed the menu and waited for the waiter to finish pouring he a glass of water before continuing. "What sort of things? You were always so brilliant at coming up with stuff that I'd never imagine in a million years. How do you do it, anyway?"

He looked up at her with a crooked smile. "Really? You didn't know about the Naughty line? I keep it in the back, so the younger generation won't stumble upon it, but yea, all kinds of toys and such, I've had a lot of help getting it up and running, but it's been doing well. You're more than welcome to come by, I'll even give you a nice discount." He winked at her before ordering some wine for both of them.

He closed his menu as well, having decided what he was getting. "Well it was easier when I wasn't doing it on my own, but I don't know, stuff just comes to me. I think a lot of it is thinking back on some of the old pranks I've played on my siblings and how much better they'd have been with some of the things I've made since."

"You know what you want?" he asked, folding his hands over his menu and leaning forward a bit.

"Well, it certainly sounds like the kind of merchandise I could go for," she teased.

"So, you're trying to say that you owe your success to Ron and Percy and the rest for being such easy targets." She smiled at him fondly. "Remind me to thank my Mum and Dad for not having more children."

She bit her bottom lip at the question, tempted to order nothing but a simple salad, but not wanting to seem like one of those twits who didn't like to eat like normal girls in front of blokes. Yet she also didn't want to choose anything too expensive. "Perhaps just a spaghetti bolognese? I haven't had it in ages." Plus it was the cheapest entree on the menu.

He laughed. "Well you're more than welcome, I'd be happy to help you pick some out too, maybe offer some suggestions, teach you how to use them." he couldn't keep a straight face no matter how hard he tried, he just had to smile the whole time, but that was one of things he really liked about Ally, he was perfectly comfortable being himself around her.

"Well, not all of it, but a good deal of it sure! If they hadn't been such easy targets, I wouldn't have been able to hone my skills so well! But I like to think some of it was on me the whole time, and not all on them." He chuckled at her comment about not having siblings. "Hey, you might have been missing out. Look what a success I am due to my siblings."

He opened the menu back up and did in fact notice that it was the cheapest entree. "I'll only let you order that if it is really what you want, and not because it was the cheapest thing. Because I'm taking you out, I expect you to get something you want. I said business has been good, I can afford to buy you dinner." He smiled knowingly at her.

She snorted. "Yes, I'd love to hear you say that to their faces, how you're a success because of them. I think I'd pay to see it, actually," she teased.

She had the grace to look sheepish when he called her out. "I do," she said, meeting his smile. "It would compliment the escargot I'd like as an entree, I think." There, if he insisted, she'd let him.

"So, how often do you eat here? It's rather posh - I'm glad I dressed nice enough for it. Would have been rather embarassing otherwise."

He laughed at her comment about Angie snoring. He had similar experience, but was not going to even dare bringing that up right now. He knew better than that. "I have little sympathy for you, you never had to listen to Fred and Lee compete to see who could snore louder. It was a nightly competition. Oh and they talked to each other in their sleep now and again too, much to the amusement of the rest of us!"

George nodded. "This is true, and I don't regret missing that those tests, but at least you can say you survived them, that's more than I can say. It's true Fred and I were lucky, we had fairly quick success, but there were long days, weeks, and months trying toget the place up and running. It wasn't all fun and games, as much as we wanted everyone to believe it was. Still isn't, but it's rewarding, so I don't really mind."

He grinned at her last comment. "Yes, lots of whipped cream, and since cherries are fruit, I think we can include this as well. Might be able to throw some chocolate on there as well," he waggled his eyebrows at her.

She snorted at the thought of matching snores from Fred and Lee. It made her miss Lee and everyone else from back in their quidditch days. Oh, to be so young again, and the only worry was whether or not Oliver would make them get up early for practice. "Well, I fully expect you to tell me if either of them talked about me in their sleep," she teased.

"Well, I envied the two of you, and not just for missing out on NEWTS. I had to wait years to figure out what to do with my life, but you had it worked out long ago. No small thing, that."

Mmmm, he was definitely whetting her appetite with the added chocolate to the fantasy breakfast. Her foot, which had been neglecting him for a while as they ate, decided to make itself known again. The toe of her heel slid down to his ankle, the peeked up his trouser leg, rubbing gently against his sock and skin. "The chocolate definitely sweetens up the deal," she said with a playful lick to her bottom lip. "Especially if it's dark chocolate." Oh, how she wished she had some now, and perhaps a spoon to lick lasciviously to tease the poor boy.

"I'm not sure I'd know if they did, it was mostly mumbles and such, don't think there was any actual english passed between them, but it was damn entertaining for the rest of us. They had a shouting match one night, in their sleep. No one knew what they were arguing about, and they didn't remember, though the rest of us helped egg them on during, which made it even funnier." He shook his head, remembering the days at Hogwarts fondly. Really, things had been great until their last year.

"Hey, sometimes you're just meant to do something. We just stumbled upon it really, after one of those 'what are you going to do with your life' conversations with McGonagle. It seemed like the obvious answer, after all, we were the best trouble makers in the school, there's no denying that!" He smiled proudly.

He smiled at her. "I think I can managed dark chocolate. I'd be happy to get you some chocolate to tide you over in the mean time, you know, since I brought up the topic." He thought a trip to the ice cream shop for desert might be a nice way to wrap up dinner, plus would give them a chance to walk a little, which he always enjoyed.

Even though it was a November night and there was a hint of chill in the air, it was never too cold for ice cream. Alicia had playfully kicked off her heels and lifted her feet into George's lap as she played with her treat, a dark chocolate deep fried ice cream with hot caramel interior that magically kept each layer at the perfect temperature.

Thankfully, the good food and better company had kept her mind from thoughts of bad dreams and dangerous witches, and instead focused on the moment. And speaking of the moment...

"So, be honest - if you had to choose one, would you rather be a vampire or a werewolf?"

He had a hand on one of her legs that was resting in his lap, gently rubbing it, but not paying very close attention to the action. It was almost second nature really. He'd gone for a more simpler treat, but still chocolate-y. He did have a love for chocolate, not quite to the level of most women, but probably more so than most blokes. Really, he was more enjoying watching her eat hers. She seemed rather excited about it, and it was impossible not to smile while watching her enjoy it.

He laughed at her question, but didn't miss a beat. "Oh werewolf for sure, I'm far too fond of the day time to devote myself completely to the night. Besides, have you ever heard of a ginger vampire? I didn't think so, because it's simply rediculous. Besides, werewolves are much scarier, much more respected I think. After all, how many vampires have you met? I've met a few werewolves, never a vampire." He sounded like he'd thought this over before, and maybe he had after his brother's close call with Fenrir, but really it had been a spur of the moment answer. Still he kept his look confident as if it was the most obvious answer. "What about you?"

Her spoon paused in its efforts to empty out the deep-fried shell of her treat as her face screwed up in consideration.

"I'm sorry to say, I think I'd have to go with the vampire. Imagine, never gaining or losing weight ever again, never having to shave either, and from what I hear, the sex is unimaginable." She broke off a piece of the deep-fried bit with her fingers and popped it into her mouth. "You've got to admit, I'd make a rather fit vampire. But you're right, I have yet to see a ginger vampire. Doesn't mean they don't exist, though."

She wiggled her foot against his hand, enjoying the feel of it so comfortably there without any moves to cop a feel or take advantage of their position. It reminded her of how they'd been friends for so many years, and how that was so much more important than anything else.

"All right, your turn - hit me."

He nodded his agreement. "Fit indeed, I think if you were a vampire, then I'd sign up too, in hopes of reaching the same level of sexiness, as impossible as that would be. But you'd have a line of blokes around the corner literally dying to join you," he joked.

He took another bite of his own ice cream before posing his question. "If you could polyjuice into any person, who would it be? People from the past are fair game too."

"Oh, that's a hard one." She scooped up another spoonful of melted ice cream and enjoyed it before finally coming up with an answer.

"I guess it would depend on what I wanted to do while polyjuiced. For example, if I wanted to scare the shite out of someone, I'd choose Professor Snape. Or I could be Gwenog Jones and play quidditch professionally for an hour. Or even be Shacklebolt and do something good for the Ministry for once." She shrugged. "But in the end, call me vain, but I'd be Isabelle Chernowsky. She was a Muggle who volunteered to be massaged by my class, and she was just gorgeous! Legs up to here," she waved her hand just below her chin, "and her tits were quite epic and legendary," she added with a smirk.

"And you?"

George nodded in understanding at the first group of names, but when she explained the last one, he laughed. "Well, if I could have legs up to there and an epic pair of tits, I think I'd have a hard time turning that down too!" He shook his head. Personally he rather liked her legs, and she had quite a nice rack as well, but he kept that to himself for the time being.

"Well we said anyone right? Even if it isn't possible, and I'm thinking it isn't, but I'd like to try out being Peeves. I mean the guy is a master trickster, he showed Fred and I up a number of times back at school, and he gets away with everything! Really, I've always been a bit jealous of him, so many targets, and no reprecusions, bloody lucky if you ask me."

"I've got a question for you," he said, and paused for a second for effect. "Where do you see this date going from here?"

She laughed and winced at the same time. "Remind me sometime to tell you about the time Peeves made a trip to the Gryffindor girls' loo, while I happened to be taking a shower."

She was just finishing the last of her treat when he asked his question. She made a great show of looking indecisive and licking the last of her ice cream from the spoon before placing the bowl on the table. She slid her feet from his lap so that she could stand up.

She stayed there a moment, pretending to decide whether or not she should leave, then gracefully sat down in his lap. She framed his face with her hands and pulled him into a short but passionate kiss - which was just as wonderful as she'd remembered from the night before, and tasted even better with traces of ice cream on their lips.

"Is that answer enough for you?"

He laughed too. "I can't wait to hear that story, I bet it's brilliant and will only make me more jealous of the wanker!"

When she stood up, his heart actually froze for a moment, and he thought she might actually leave. He was already going through everything in his head, trying to figure out what wrong move he'd made, and decided it must have been that last question, and was on to cursing himself when she sat down in his lap, catching him by surprise. Then she was kissing him, much like she had the night before, and he figured he must not have skrewed up, against all odds, and things were actually going much more the way he'd hoped!

"Yes, it is," he said. "Then my next question is your place or mine?"

"Yours," she answered without hesitation. "It's closer."

She kissed him again before finally releasing his lips and standing up again to grab her shoes and slip them on. She took her wrap and clutch, then looked down at him with a smile.

"Well, aren't you coming? Unless you wanted me to head on over and 'get started' without you."

George only didn't move because he was ever so slightly stunned that this was really happening. But he quickly regained his composure and stood up, putting an arm around her shoulders and leading her back towards his flat. He tried not to hurry, as she was wearing heals after all, and he didn't want to seem desperate, but he was quite eager to get her into the privacy of his flat. Once they reached the shop, he unlocked the door and led her inside, through a small maze of shelves, and to the staircase that would bring them to the door of his flat. Once in there, he opened his arms as if to display his great kingdom.

"Well, this is it, the great home of George Weasley!" As the door closed behind them, a scruffy mutt came running out of the bedroom, where George was sure he'd been sleeping on the bed like he wasn't supposed to. George bent down and scooped up the dog and tucked him under one arm as he tried to lick George's face. "This would be Gidget, the Overlord of Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. Really, he runs the place more than I do."

The walk to the shop gave her the opportunity to further enjoy the cool night air with George warming her. Her arm had slipped around his waist, almost too comfortably, more so than she wanted to consider quite yet. She followed his lead until they had finally reached his inner sanctum, only to find her date to be 'attacked' by a flying ball of fur.

Alicia loved animals, and was definitely a dog person to the extent that she couldn't not make a face that screamed 'Oh how adorable!'. She immediately began cooing to the dog and scratching behind his ear, not minding any licking she might get in return.

"Well isn't he the handsome little overlord, yes he is." Her eyes turned to George with a hopeful look. "Could I hold him?"
