Meredith had spoken to Caleb about moving, and while she had not convinced him on a car, he was amenable to the relocation. They still had to get used to the idea of having access to money whenever they needed it, but Meri didn't ever really need much in her mind. It was just easier for her to keep things simple. She didn't see the sense in having too many things, it just made life too cluttered. She guessed she was strange given her age and outlook, but having lost almost her entire family in one swoop made material things just seem less valuable to her. Focusing on Caleb and the people she cared for (including Adam now) made her happy. She didn't need more than that.

Planning a move wasn't something she had expected, especially since she had just bought her home a few years before. Living with Adam though and eventually planning a family would require more room. Plus Adam had a huge pack and now she was the female head of it. She had not expected that either. It was strange to her - going from daughter to alpha of her tiny pack, to mate of the alpha of a pack of over 70 wolves. It was almost mind-blowing the way things had changed for her.

"Do we want to hire people? Like, to pack and move?" She was trying to map out costs on a paper. She knew it wasn't needed but she still had the mindset of saving when and where she could. "I can pack and carry a lot of things..."

Meri smiled slightly at that. Respect she understood. She had managed to keep it when she was hunting on her own. She was fortunate in that, she knew, since it had been what had kept the coyote pack that had honed in on her area from killing Cale, she was sure. She was scary enough to manage herself and her brother. Now she had Adam too and that added to it all.

She nudged at his face slightly with her own, half nuzzling him. It was good having a mate, better than she had expected it to be, and her own nature often took control - she was human, sure, but not fully, and it was obvious in many of her mannerisms. Possibly not as much as her brother, but she knew she occasionally confused people with behavior when she lost track of instinct vs proper socialization in humans.

"I have that on here too." She tapped the paper lightly and smiled. "I'm trying to keep track of everything so that I don't forget anything."

Adam Locke had fought for his place; for his title and for every ounce of respect that had been earned. First as the Enforcer for the Pack, then as the Alpha, and then as the one who turned the once starving pack into a strong healthy collective. He bore the scars, both physical and emotional, for every struggle, but through it all the wolf had cemented his position as head of the powerful clan. For all that he had won the trust and respect of every wolf under his protection; and while the older generation may raise an eyebrow at the Alpha's decision to mate with Meri, not a single one of them would dare utter such a thing aloud.

The feel of her closeness, and the way she nuzzled against him, had the wolf grinning. This whole mating thing was so new, to be sure, yet Adam found himself enjoying the prospect of sharing his life with her. Playfully he nipped at her ear, and after setting the laptop to the side his hand reached out and rested on her leg. Fingernails lightly traces along her legs, clawing softly up and tracing along her inner thigh.

"Well I am quite impressed by your organizational skills. Still I don't suppose you scheduled in a bit of free time to play? Somewhere maybe between work and the move? I think we still may have a few pieces of furniture that haven't been destroyed just yet..." A low growl reverberated within the wolf's chest as the hand of his slipped a little higher up between her thighs, and she could feel his blunted teeth moving to nip at her neck slowly.

Meri would be grateful at the fact that she would not be questioned in relation to the pack. She imagined she would have to (at least once or twice) step in to be sure Caleb was not being seriously mistreated- the omega of a group would have some scapegoating, but she also knew she had to be sure he was not hurt by it. His role would change a little, she imagined, but she had always and would always look out for him. He was her brother, after all.

Adam's grin was contagious and she nuzzled him again playfully, mischief glinting in her eyes as she looked at him. The fact that he was showing an interest in a different sort of play now absolutely caught her attention, and she let out a soft growl as his hand travelled up her leg. This was all strange and new, but not in a bad way at all. It was new in a way that she wanted more of.

"I do have some free time..." Her eyes moved to his face and she grinned at him, much more interested in him now than the papers she had been making notes on. "Seems like between figuring out costs and decor for the salon I have... about enough time to help you destroy the last of the furniture. I mean, we obviously have to make sure everything's new and safe for when there are pups, right?"

Meri's place at his side was cemented completely, yet the matter of her brother had given Adam a bit of concert. The issue wasn't that the boy was a coyote; though a few of the wolves would likely not be pleased about that. No the real problem was that the boy was crippled. Weakness was abhorrent to the Pack, and under the rule of his father the young coyote would have just been killed. However those were the old ways, the ways that the new Alpha had been striving to distance the wolves from. For Meri's sake he wished that he could promise that Caleb would be treated like an equal...yet even among the wolves themselves there was a fierce hierarchy.

With Adam at the pinnacle at least he could guarantee that none would seek to harm her brother. Aside from that all he could really do was let the others know that Caleb was under his protection. Such a thing would keep even the most foolish young wolves from trying something stupid. Anything more and the Alpha would be hard pressed to remain truthful, and he made it a point to never lie to his pack. Perhaps with luck and time the others would come around; and with Luna as an advocate...well a few years from now things could be far better. For the present the plan was just to keep most of the pack at a distance, which wasn't too hard given that the majority of them were back on the West Coast.

That soft growl, and her words, pulled the wolf's attention back to the present. With a chuckle he suddenly stood up from the couch and stripped off his shirt. "New and safe...yeah, I can work with that!"

Meri knew well that Caleb would not be an equal. He hadn't been even in their family, though she protected him as much as she fought with him and imagined that would continue. He was family, and so he was loved even if his status was not as high as hers. Hierarchy was a normal state of affairs and one they both would accept.

Her eyes moved to meet his for a second and she smiled broadly, her body shifting closer to him. The smell of him, her mate, was more than enough to bring a hint of fire to her eyes and a flush to her cheeks and chest that she knew would not have been replicated with any other. She knew he was hers and she was his, and she knew that they would claim each other more and more fully with each time they were together.

"Good. We'll need padding." She stood and nipped his neck lightly before continuing. "Protective bumpers." Another soft bite on his chest. "Soft furniture," she continued, bending now to lick playfully at his stomach.

His breathing quickened as desire washed over the wolf, and the way she nipped at his flesh and licked at his stomach had Adam's body stirring. It took every bit of self control to remain just standing there; and the need to take her was so damn overwhelming that his whole form trembled slightly. She was his, but he too was all hers. So denying her the chance to tease him wasn't something the Alpha could do.

Granted through it all his mind became clouded and it took more energy to focus on just what she was saying. "Padding...yeah...whatever you want, Meri." Furniture was the last thing on his mind anymore, and his hand shook just a tad as he softly cupped her breast, but that thumb of his seemed to know just what to do as it started to brushing back and forth across her nipple below the fabric.

Meri had it in her nature to tease a bit. She had always been the dominant one in her family group, at least for her age, and so she was still adapting to having someone take a role above her again- it had been some time since she had to accept that from anyone, though with him it was not a bad thing in her mind. She loved him- he was a part of her now, and would always remain so.

Her hands moved to work at the fastening of his pants as she watched him, her eyes flaring with even more desire. She knew her words were not mattering at the moment- it was more to tease and torment than to actually get a point across, though her hands made it obvious that she was more worried about his pleasure than the padding in the house.

The scent of her was intoxicating, and it was a strain to keep still. Despite it all though the wolf reveled in this new connection; loving the way that their bond made him feel. Meri felt like the missing piece that made him whole, and he shuddered at the thought of ever losing her. For now though it was so very easy to push such heavy thoughts aside as he caught himself utterly enthralled by the look in her eyes as she gazed up at him.

A faint whimper slipped free from his lips as she teased him, and every fiber of his being begged to be rid of the constricting clothing. Traces of gold flashed in his eyes as Adam's sculpted chest rose and fell with every breath.

Adam was a missing part to her life too, though she had rarely deeply considered a mate prior to meeting him. She was young, after all, and he had clearly waited much longer than she did. Not that it was a problem in truth. Physically their ages were not that different, and so his age would not matter to anyone in the pack for decades. Now though that was not even in her mind.

What was in her mind? Getting his pants off. Her hands pushed them from his hips and she trailed a few kisses along his hipbone, grinning wickedly up at him. She wanted him driven so mad with lust for her that instinct would take over for them both.

Dying of old age was not in the cards for the Alpha, after all the wolf knew that he'd die a bloody death just as his father had. Still that was simply part of life, and something Adam had long since made peace with. Cherishing the present though certainly sparked a real interest for him, since tomorrow was never a sure thing. So as he looked on and felt her kisses along his hipbone the wolf let out a low rumbling growl.

Eyes golden through and through his mind slipped away at last; giving over to the primal side that always lurked just below the surface. Timidity gone, along with any semblance of self control, he finally moved. A moment later the man held her pinned against the wall, her palms resting on the plaster as the wolf pressed against her from behind. Blunted teeth bit down upon her neck, and a shaky hand reached down between her skirt to hastily rip away the panties that she wore.

"Mine."

Meri didn't much want to think about death in any way, shape, or form. It was something that would not happen for many years and so it could be pushed aside for other, more pressing thoughts and concerns, like the taste of his skin or the growl he let out at her attentions. Those were important. The future would wait.

The fast movement and the ripping of her panties didn't shock her as much as it might some others. He was her mate and he wanted to claim her again. The biting and pressure just showed that. Her body responded instantly, her back arching a tiny bit to show him she wanted the same as he did.

"Yours."

Death was the furthest thing on his mind as the wolf found itself basking in the heat of the moment. The taste of her skin, and the warmth of her body were far to enticing to be ignored. The low rumble in the Alpha's chest grew steadily as his body leaned against her own, and it took only a moment for the Alpha to free himself from the confines of his slacks. That single word that she uttered sent a shiver across his spine, drawing out the primal side of him completely. Life was what mattered. Her life, their shared bond...and the life that would one day bloom within his mates womb. With a deep groan Adam's hips pressed forward, allowing the tip of his hardness to penetrate her heavenly core.

Just the feeling of slipping within Meri's warm passage had the Alpha's body trembling, and when he drove himself deep inside all trace of coherent thought faded away. There were no more words, only the sound of his heavy breathing broken with moans of absolute pleasure. She was his, completely, and his manhood throbbed with need as the wolf began to thrust away with such longing and desperation.

Her body instantly shifted to his at the soft growl, and she responded instinctively as he pushed into her, eyelids fluttering with the pleasure of feeling him become even more a part of her. She wanted to be with him, to carry his young when the time came for that (which may have come sooner than she had previously thought, given the intensity and frequency of their couplings). She growled again as her hips moved, rocking with his thrusts and offering a counterpoint to the movements he had begun.

Her mind was blank except for him now, everything centered on his body, how it was connected to hers, and how they responded to each other. She did not ever want to lose a moment with him, and the fact that he was in her, needing her as much as she needed him? It drove her wild.

In all his years on Earth Adam had never found anything that made him feel so alive as he felt here in Meri's presence. The wolf had never dreamed that he would have found his mate here, yet find her he did. For decades the Alpha believed himself content; firmly thinking that nothing could overshadow the connection he felt to his Pacy. But in such a short time that thought had faded away, and the mate bond opened his eyes to splendor beyond anything he had ever imagined. She was his, and he was hers. Two being joined as one in a coupling that no human could ever even hope to fathom.

Every movement of their bodies sent his head reeling and as he basked in both the warmth of her and the scent of her Adam knew that he was complete. Oh the wolf within moved with such need, hips thrusting faster and faster, the tempo mirroring the racing heart beat of his. His sheer strength would have broken a frail human form, yet the Alpha knew his mate was stronger still. Soon that pressure he felt growing within would give way to such sweet release, yet for the present moment Adam fought the urge to give in...hoping to draw out the ecstasy for as long as he could.
